Hey Planeswalkers!
Welcome to this week’s Friday Night Meta update! The goal is to equip you faster with information in a fast evolving game, and to get you the right information to help you make the decisions you need to make! This is intended to be a comprehensive view with a lens from Magic the Gathering Arena with impacts from the MTG gaming scene.
This week we have some interesting movements between the aggregate and competitive scene of the META! We also had some fun results that have lead to impacts this past week from a Standard tournament from the past weekend.
I slice and dice weekly data using untapped.ggs companion app for BO1 & BO3 standard, cover a key deck for the week, and we talk about some key meta impacts!

Week Highlights
Our Discord community is starting to pull together fun free tournaments, so stay tuned! We also have a very active streaming group if you are looking for some community live Q&A.
I dabbled back in historic leveraging Friday Night Magic All Access to take a look at a few decks. This week was a Selesnya Ramp one. I plan to do more historic & jank when I have the time.
A few decks I checked out this week were: Izzet Spells, Azorius Fliers, Jeskai Mutate, Mardu Midrange, & Mono White Angels
This week in the Livestream Land I focused a bit more on Competitive Magic & running my Jeskai Mutate Game. I am also trying to keep up with streaming on Youtube as well!
Make sure to stay tuned! I will be releasing the June Tier List soon!
Recap
BO1: Decks like Cycling, Winona, and Mono White Aggro surpass Lifegain in winrates, while Mono Red Aggro regained the most played Archetype.
BO3: Naya Tokens continues to be a powerhouse, and Jeskai Mutate collectively breaks in as a new Top 8 winrate/played deck. Izzet Dragons continue its run to the moon!
Top Deck: Jegantha Naya Tokens
BO1
Boros Winota has once again taken the lead as the most played deck at the top end of the competitive ladde it also commands the top win rate spot. Sultai Ultimatum is the Spiking deck for the week in terms of a massive uptick in archetype played. It has gained almost 5%!
Overall the Top 8 decks are definitely facing compressions, and from what I’ve been hearing in Discord, Twitch, & Youtube it sounds like many players are playing a lot of interesting things! This has certainly been reflective in most of the showcased decks as well.
BO3
The first major thing you will notice this week is the absence of Jeskai Mutate at an aggregate level. Interestingly enough it’s actually a top played deck in Mythic! This is one of the first times since I’ve been doing this we see this kind of dichotomy. The deck is one of the hardest to pilot right now in Standard. I talk a bit more on this in the videos.
Izzet Dragons has now fallen back from the moon, while Sultai Ultimatum begins its ascent once again in terms of played archetype. Naya Adventures win rate absolutely skyrockets over a healthy 60%, while Temur Turns is also making a big comeback in this space.
Mythic Mutation – Jeskai Mutate
This deck has a ton of gas and is a powerhouse combo deck. Additionally, at least in my recent memory one of the better combo decks that we have seen in standard in a while. It has been around for a bit, and may now have hit peak performance off the back of the Strixhaven Championship. This is one of the most complicated decks in Standard right now as I mentioned.
You definitely can change this list up the way you like, and it certainly continues to evolve.
Event Impacts
This week coming off the back of the Strixhaven Championship we got a nice 100 person tournament from Insight Esports T1 – $5K. There was a whole lot going on here with a ton of Sultai Ultimatum finishing Top 8. This was one of the few times I have seen archetypes fruition that it was above 50% win rate for tournament play! These results certainly had a hand in the Meta this week.
What’s Next
Looking forward to what new events lie in wait ahead this weekend!

Sources
I leverage multiple sources like untapped.ggs companion app stats, MTGAzone, Aetherhub, twitter, personal gameplay, tournament matches (mtg melee, magic.gg), this reddit as well as others, MTGData, personal stats, and consistently hitting Mythic and Mythic Qualifiers.
One last thought I would like to share:
If you have a competitive deck (different than one featured) I am always happy to do a piece on it time permitting. I have several folks that ask, and have done several player featured decks. I rather enjoy this so please don’t hesitate to reach out or ask. I always try to prioritize with the following and timing or relevance – MTGA Rank (1500s)/Top Tournaments, Mythic Unique decks down to Plat2Mythic Decks. Feel free to hop in the discord server and share your successes or PM/DM me! Lastly, a great fun way for us to interact is on Twitch where I currently stream x2 a week, and plan to do more in the future.
One other piece, I have recently started doing collaboration videos. If you are interested please let me know, and I would love to partner!
I wholeheartedly welcome any feedback on how to meet your needs as well as improving your experience! Additionally, for the near term my focus will be on Standard, and I hope to organically add in Historic in the future.
Thank you for your time, and hope you enjoyed this week’s piece!
