CRK Crystal Jam Guide — Life Jewel Costs and Trial Grounds
Crafting a Crystal Jam and taking it to +30 costs 10,750 Life Jewels, 312 Legendary Soul Essence and 5,149,540 Coins — and the only repeatable source of Life Jewels hands them out seven times a week.

Crystal Jam coverage is mostly skill coverage. Moonlight Cookie's rally, Frost Queen's team-wide Ice damage, Black Pearl's resist numbers — that side of it is documented, including on this site.
The bill is the harder thing to find. And the bill is the part that decides whether you should start one at all.
The total cost, up front
Taking a single Crystal Jam from unbuilt to +30 costs 10,750 Life Jewels, 450 Rare + 720 Epic + 312 Legendary Soul Essence, 6,293 Sugar Crystals and 5,149,540 Coins. Those are the totals on the Cookie Run: Kingdom Wiki's own upgrade table, and they check out — add the thirty individual rungs and you land on exactly those figures, which is not something you can assume about a wiki total row.
The Life Jewel figure is the one that hurts, because Life Jewels are Cookie-specific. Sea Fairy Cookie's Life Jewels do nothing for Moonlight Cookie. Each Cookie's jewels come from that Cookie's own Trial Ground, and Trial Grounds is capped at seven attempts per week.
That is the whole story of Crystal Jam progression compressed into two facts. Everything below is the detail.
What a Crystal Jam actually is

Crystal Jams are upgradable items unique to Legendary Cookies. Like a Magic Candy, a Crystal Jam replaces the Cookie's skill with a stronger version and levels up to a cap of Lv.30. Unlike a Magic Candy, it carries two extras:
- A Rally Effect. Any Cookie with a Crystal Jam can be set as the team's Leader in Team Settings, applying their Rally Effect to the whole squad. Only one Rally Effect can be active at a time, so the Crystal Jams you own are competing with each other for that single slot, not stacking.
- Ascended Effects. Five additional upgrades per Crystal Jam, unlocked once the Jam reaches Lv.15 and then gated individually behind the Cookie's Ascension level.
Two gates catch people out. A Crystal Jam can only be used by a Cookie at Lv.50 or higher, and Hall of Ancient Heroes boosts do not count — the same rule that applies to Magic Candies, and the reason our Hall of Ancient Heroes guide tells you to keep genuine levels on your investment targets. The Jam also has to be crafted before it can be levelled, and crafting is the +1 row of the table below: 100 Life Jewels and 4 Legendary Soul Essence before you have anything at all.
Trial Grounds: the only tap
Trial Grounds is the game mode that pays out Life Jewels. It unlocks after you clear Stage 10-31 in World Exploration, which the World Exploration guide will get you to if you are not there yet.
The shape of it:
- Seven attempts per week by default. The Kingdom Pass adds three more per week, for ten. Trial Ground Tickets can refill attempts but are only handed out through limited-time events and shop offers, so they are not a plan.
- Ten stages per ground, each with a one-time first-win reward and a separate repeat reward. They are not simply a big one and a small one: the first win pays the ground's typed Sugar Crystals, while a repeat pays slightly more Life Jewels plus 25 Purity Crystals, Coins and Kingdom EXP.
- A Trial of Glory boss unlocks for a ground once you have cleared all ten of its stages. Only one ground's Trial of Glory is live in any given week, and its boss rotates.
- The featured Cookie is mandatory in the team. The game provides that Cookie with a full set of Searing Raspberry toppings, and you can swap in your own copy if you have one. Owning their Crystal Jam already grants extra buffs to the Cookie and the team, scaling with the Jam's level — the mode pays the people who are already ahead.
Five of the six documented grounds run the same core modifiers: minimum Cookie Lv.70 and Skill Lv.70, a fixed Rally Effect set by the ground, all enemies' Debuff Resist +40%, ally HP Shield capacity −65%, and ally Healing −65%, plus one or more ground-specific twists — Permafrost Plains stacks three of them. The sixth, Dessert Paradise of Life, is the exception, and the wiki's entry for it contradicts itself: it gives Debuff Resist as +80% on one line and +40% on another, and adds DMG dealt to Incapacitated enemies +25%. Treat that ground's Debuff Resist figure as unconfirmed. Read the numbers before you build a team. Shield-and-sustain comps are being taxed by two-thirds here on purpose; this is a mode that wants you to kill things.
The six grounds and what they pay
| Trial Ground | Featured Cookie | Sugar Crystal it pays out |
|---|---|---|
| Yearning Sea | Sea Fairy Cookie | Arcane |
| Duskgloom Vortex | Black Pearl Cookie | Swiftness |
| Permafrost Plains | Frost Queen Cookie | Arcane |
| Eternal City of Wizards | Moonlight Cookie | Arcane |
| Sky-Splitting Peak | Stormbringer Cookie | Strength |
| Dessert Paradise of Life | Wind Archer Cookie | Swiftness |
Repeat clears pay 25 Purity Crystals instead of the ground's typed crystal, which is the correct way round: Purity Crystals are the base material the Magic Laboratory converts into Arcane, Strength and Swiftness. Your typed-crystal problem is a Purity-crystal problem wearing a hat.

What one clear is worth
| Stage | Life Jewels (first win) | Life Jewels (repeat) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 12 | 13 |
| 2 | 14 | 15 |
| 3 | 16 | 18 |
| 4 | 18 | 20 |
| 5 | 20 | 23 |
| 6 | 24 | 25 |
| 7 | 28 | 30 |
| 8 | 34 | 35 |
| 9 | 40 | 43 |
| 10 | 50 | 50 |
| Trial of Glory | 60 | 55 |
Clearing all ten stages of a ground for the first time is 256 Life Jewels, and the first Trial of Glory win adds 60 more (plus 2 Soulstones for the featured Cookie, 350 of the ground's typed crystals and 80 Radiant Beascuit Dough). After that, a Stage 10 repeat is 50 Life Jewels and is the best use of an attempt unless the Trial of Glory is live on your ground that week, which pays 55.
So the weekly ceiling for one Cookie is 350 Life Jewels free-to-play, 500 with the Kingdom Pass. One caveat worth stating plainly: the wiki gives the cap as seven attempts per week for Trial Grounds as a mode, not per ground. If you are splitting attempts between two Cookies, you are splitting that ceiling.

| Total | 450 Rare, 720 Epic, 312 Legendary | 6,293 | 10,750 | 5,149,540 | — |
The +10, +20 and +30 rows are worth flagging for a second reason: at each of those levels the Crystal Jam also grants and then upgrades a specific additional effect on top of the raw numbers. They are the milestones, and they are the three worst success rates on the sheet — 40%, 30% and 20%.

What a failed upgrade does and does not cost
This is the part that changes how you should plan, and it is buried in a sentence on the wiki.
A failed Crystal Jam upgrade refunds all of the Resonant Ingredients — all of the Life Jewels — and only some of the Soul Essence and Sugar Crystals. Each failure also adds +5% to the next attempt's success rate.
Read that again in terms of budgeting. The 10,750 Life Jewel total is not an average, it is the actual price. A 20% success rate at +30 does not make you farm Trial Grounds five times over; your jewels come back. What bad luck costs you is Soul Essence and Sugar Crystals, and those are the materials you are already spending on Ascension and Magic Candies.
There is a small upside on the other tail. Every upgrade has a fixed 5% chance of Super Success, which refunds all Soul Essence and Sugar Crystals spent, hands you 400 Crystals, and guarantees the next upgrade succeeds.
Weeks to +10, +20 and +30
Take the cumulative Life Jewel cost and divide by the weekly ceiling. These assume every attempt goes into Stage 10 repeats on one Cookie's ground, and they ignore the one-time first-win haul, so treat them as the ceiling you cannot beat rather than a schedule you will hit.
| Milestone | Life Jewels | Legendary Soul Essence | Sugar Crystals | Coins | Weeks at 7 runs | Weeks at 10 runs |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Craft to +10 | 1,000 | 15 | 874 | 425,540 | 3 | 2 |
| Craft to +20 | 3,800 | 52 | 2,618 | 1,599,740 | 11 | 8 |
| Craft to +30 | 10,750 | 312 | 6,293 | 5,149,540 | 31 | 22 |
The curve is the message. +20 is roughly a third of the total Life Jewel bill; the last ten levels are 6,950 jewels on their own — more than the first twenty combined, nearly twice over. If you are funding one Crystal Jam and want it to matter this season, +20 is a real destination and +30 is a seven-month commitment to a single Cookie free-to-play, five months with the Pass.
The real bottleneck is not Life Jewels
Look at the Legendary Soul Essence column in that milestone table again: 15 to +10, 52 to +20, 312 to +30. Eighty-three percent of the Legendary Soul Essence a Crystal Jam will ever ask for is spent in the last ten levels.
Legendary Soul Essence is the scarcest of the four Soul Essence tiers. Common, Rare and Epic drop from World Exploration Dark Mode stages; Legendary is the awkward one — the wiki's summary line says Master Mode stages and shops, but its own source list also names Gacha pulls on Cookies already at max promotion, the Arena, Guild and Rainbow Shell Gallery shops, Town Square activities and events — and it is the same material that promotes your Legendary, Super Epic, Beast, Dragon and Ancient Cookies. A Crystal Jam pushed to +30 is competing directly with your Ascension queue for it.
That reframes the priority question. If you are choosing between a Crystal Jam push and a Magic Candy, the Magic Candy priority guide covers the other half of the budget — and the honest answer for most accounts is that a Crystal Jam at +20 plus a Magic Candy elsewhere beats one Crystal Jam at +30.
Which Cookie deserves it is a separate question, and it depends on what the Rally Effect gives your team rather than what the skill does in isolation. Frost Queen Cookie's Harbinger of Ice rally is the obvious example — worth far more on an Ice-mono team than on a mixed one — and Moonlight Cookie's is the example of a Crystal Jam that changes how she is geared, not just how hard she hits. Since only one Rally Effect is active at a time, the second Crystal Jam you build is worth less than the first unless it is going on a different team.
The seventh Crystal Jam and the missing ground
One thing to be straight about, because the wiki is not currently consistent with itself.
The Crystal Jam page's own gallery lists seven Cookies with Crystal Jams: Black Pearl, Sea Fairy, Frost Queen, Moonlight, Stormbringer, Wind Archer and Fire Spirit, whose Crystal Jam skill is documented as Orb of Eternal Flame. What the wiki does not say is when it shipped. v7.8 (Time Breakers: Fatal Fixers) is real and dated August 26, 2026 on Time Shadow Cookie's page — but nothing on the wiki ties Fire Spirit's Crystal Jam to it. His own changelog stops at v6.3 (April 23, 2025), the 2026 update list has no entry newer than v7.7 (July 29, 2026), and there is no Patch Notes page for v7.8 to check. So take no patch date for his Crystal Jam as established, including the one in our own Fire Spirit Cookie build, which we have flagged for verification.
The rest of the evidence points the same way. The Trial Grounds page documents only six grounds, with no stage table for a Fire Spirit ground. The wiki's Resonant Ingredients category carries Life Jewel item pages for only five Cookies — Black Pearl, Frost Queen, Moonlight, Sea Fairy and Stormbringer. And the max-level, Ascension and Notes rows of Fire Spirit's Crystal Jam entry are still unfilled template placeholders. Treat his Crystal Jam as documented, not as something you can currently farm to.
Treat the six-ground table above as what the wiki currently documents, not as a claim that a seventh does not exist in game. The cost table applies to any Crystal Jam; it is the stage list that is behind.
One more inconsistency worth knowing: the Crystal Jam page says Life Jewels "can only be obtained by completing stages in the Trial Grounds", while the individual Life Jewel item pages list limited-time gachas as a source too. The safe reading is the one that survives both: Trial Grounds is the only permanent, repeatable source, and anything else has been a time-boxed event.
Quick Action Checklist
- Clear World Exploration 10-31 to unlock Trial Grounds at all.
- Get the Cookie to a genuine Lv.50. Hall of Ancient Heroes levels do not count toward the Crystal Jam requirement.
- Pick one Cookie and fund only them until the Jam is at least +10. Splitting seven weekly attempts across two grounds doubles every timeline.
- Spend every attempt on the highest stage you can clear. A Stage 10 repeat is 50 Life Jewels; Stage 1 is 13. Same attempt, nearly four times the payout.
- Take the Trial of Glory when it is live on your ground — 55 on repeat, plus Soulstones and Radiant Beascuit Dough on the first win.
- Do not fear the success rate. Failures refund all your Life Jewels and add +5% to the next attempt. Fear the Legendary Soul Essence bill instead.
- Aim at +20 first. It is 3,800 Life Jewels and 52 Legendary Soul Essence against 10,750 and 312 for +30.
- Build the second Crystal Jam only for a different team. One Rally Effect is active at a time.
