gamescom 2026: Saturday Day Tickets Are Gone — Here Is What You Can Still Buy

The most expensive public day at gamescom 2026 sold out anyway.

Saturday, August 29 was priced above the other three public days — 41.00 euros for a standard day ticket against 31.50 euros on Thursday, Friday and Sunday — and all three Saturday day-ticket tiers now read SOLD OUT on the official ticket page. So does the Wednesday Wildcard. So do both Superfan Bundles. So do the on-site tickets for Opening Night Live.

This is the first time the Gaming Events archive has covered gamescom, and it is worth saying plainly why the numbers here look nothing like the ones in our Gen Con and MagicCon pieces: Koelnmesse counted 357,000 visitors through the doors in 2025. That is a different category of event, and the logistics change accordingly.

Here is what is confirmed for 2026, what a ticket costs, what you can still buy twelve days out, and the German rule that will stop you playing the 16+ and 18+ booths if you turn up without photo ID.

What is already gone

Straight off the official private-visitor ticket table, sold out as listed:

• Saturday day ticket, Saturday discounted day ticket and Saturday family day ticket
• The Wildcard — which gamescom's own admission note makes the sole private-visitor route into Wednesday, August 26
• Superfan Bundle and Superfan Bundle Plus
• On-site tickets for gamescom Opening Night Live, whose page now leads with "Wow, we are sold out!"

The Saturday table has four rows. Three are sold out. The fourth is the 13.00 euro evening ticket, which is the only Saturday line still carrying a price instead of a sold-out label.

Two footnotes worth knowing before you go hunting. The discounted Wildcard at 32.75 euros has not sold out, but it is available exclusively to people with a disabled person's pass, the contingent is limited, and gamescom asks you to contact private-visitor support rather than buy it in the shop. And the Superfan Bundle Plus was the strangest thing on the menu: an Opening Night Live ticket, a Wednesday Wildcard, and a night in the gamescom camp from August 25 to 26 in your own tent. That is gone too.

The days, the hours, and the Wednesday rule

gamescom 2026 runs August 26 to 30, 2026 at Koelnmesse in Cologne. The wider gamescom week starts on August 24 with the gamescom dev developer conference, and gamescom Opening Night Live opens the show on the evening of August 25.

Opening hours for private visitors, from the official timetable:

Read the Saturday and Sunday rows again if you are going for work. The business area shuts after Friday. Everything B2B — the meeting areas, the trade floor — is a three-day event inside a five-day one, and it closes an hour earlier on its opening day than on the other two.

Wednesday is the trap. It is the trade visitor and media day, and gamescom's own wording is that the organizer "may grant access to the entertainment area to a limited number of private visitors" — from 1:00 p.m. onwards, only with a Wildcard. Since the Wildcard is sold out, Wednesday is effectively closed to new public buyers, and it was already the shortest day at ten hours instead of eleven.

What a ticket actually costs

Private-visitor pricing as published, including the Saturday figures that now sit behind a sold-out label:

The discount applies to pupils, students, trainees, pensioners, seniors over 65, severely disabled people and voluntary social service workers on presentation of proof — and gamescom asks you to have that document out in the entrance area, not buried in a bag.

Now do the hourly arithmetic, because it is the most useful thing on this page.

The evening ticket is not a consolation prize. On Thursday, Friday and Sunday it is marginally cheaper per hour than the full day, and on Saturday — the day everything else sold out — it is the cheaper option per hour than the day ticket would have been.

What it costs you is the first seven hours of the day — the entire 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. window, before the evening ticket even activates. If your plan is "walk the halls, see the big booths lit up, go to the city festival," four evening hours for 10.50 euros is a serious piece of value. If your plan is "play six unreleased games," seven hours of queueing time is exactly what you just gave away.

Three smaller money notes. The family ticket covers a maximum of five people: one to two adults and one to three children aged between seven and twelve — so it is genuinely a 7-to-12 product, and since children aged four to six get in free on presentation of age proof at the entrance, a couple with a five-year-old does not need it at all. The green ticket is a one-euro add-on to any ticket type that goes to reforestation of the gamescom forest. And the shop lists exactly two payment methods — PayPal, or credit card (MasterCard, VISA, American Express) — so a German bank transfer is not on the menu.

The business side is a different show

For 2026 the trade visitor ticket has been renamed the gamescom Business Ticket. It is valid Wednesday to Friday, August 26 to 28, and it covers the public entertainment area as well as the business area. The five-day variants add gamescom dev on the Monday and Tuesday.

The top business pass costs roughly 68 times the standard public day ticket. On Thursday morning both walk through the same doors into the same entertainment area; only one of them adds the business area, full matchmaking, the VIP and speaker lounge with catering, and a Sunday programme on August 23 with a beer garden and speaker reception before the conference even starts.

One deadline hiding in the fine print: trade visitor legitimization is not automated. Your documents are reviewed by a human, gamescom says the process can take up to 48 hours, and it explicitly will not guarantee same-morning approvals. If you are planning to talk your way in on Wednesday at 8:45 a.m., that is not a plan.

Separately, the gamescom congress runs Thursday, August 27 at 111.00 euros, or 40.00 euros for educators and students. It is worth flagging as loudly as the ticket page itself does: the congress ticket does not admit you to gamescom. That is a second purchase.

The wristband rule that gates the 16+ and 18+ booths

This is a German youth-protection requirement, and it is not a formality.

To see or play anything rated USK 16+ or 18+ at gamescom 2026 you must be wearing a coloured wristband for that age group. You get one by presenting a valid photo ID at an issue point, and the issue points sit in front of the entrances to the grounds — outside, before you are in. Miss them and you can still get a band later, but only at these specific stands:

The age policy underneath it is equally firm. Children under four are not admitted to the entertainment area even with a parent — gamescom notes the policy for three-and-unders has changed, so a 2024 memory is not a 2026 rule. Children aged four to six get in free with age verification at the entrance. Children aged four to twelve must be accompanied by an adult. From twelve, visitors can attend unaccompanied. Dogs and other pets are not allowed on the grounds at all.

What is actually on

gamescom Opening Night Live, Tuesday, August 25. Geoff Keighley hosts again, with Eefje "sjokz" Depoortere as co-host. The on-site show is sold out and accreditation is closed, so for almost everyone this is a stream. gamescom has pre-announced two items of its own: news on METRO 2039 and on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Songs of the Past, both expected to release in 2027. There is a third, and it came from the other side. Wizards used its Gen Con 2026 keynote to say that first gameplay for Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons — the Invoke Studios action game whose patron is Tasha, performed by Maggie Robertson — airs at Opening Night Live on August 25, targeting a 2027 release. We covered that reveal in the D&D roadmap out of Gen Con. Three named items is the entire published rundown; everything else in the show is still sealed.

If you do hold an ONL ticket: the box office is in the Confex foyer, open from 2:00 p.m., with stamps issued until 7:30 p.m.; gamescom recommends arriving by 6:00 p.m.; seating is first come, first served; the free cloakroom opens at 4:30 p.m. and suitcases and large bags must be checked; the on-site booths take card payments only; and admission is 18 and over.

gamescom GDQ, August 28 to 30. This is the headline for anyone who has ever watched an AGDQ marathon at 4 a.m. Games Done Quick is making its European debut, with its own stage in the Konrad-Adenauer-Saal and around ten hours of live content each day, streamed on GDQ's own Twitch and YouTube channels. GDQ says it has raised over 60 million dollars for charity since 2010; proceeds here go to Gaming4Democracy.

gamescom awesome indies show, Thursday, August 27. Now produced by IGN, running roughly 60 to 75 minutes, broadcast in English, with trailers, gameplay reveals and developer interviews, and available on demand afterwards.

The social stage. The gamescom event arena becomes a "social stage" across four days, carrying the gamescom cosplay contest, a DidYouKnowGaming panel quiz and other community slots. The cosplay village returns, and gamescom says the costume design rules have been revised with industry and community representatives, alongside simplified accreditation for cosplayers. If you are building something, read the current rules PDF rather than last year's.

gamescom award. Nineteen categories across three groups — Arts, Platform and Global — decided by a jury of gaming professionals together with a community vote, organised by the Foundation for Digital Games Culture. Submissions closed on July 24. Nominees are announced on August 24, two days before the doors open.

Note how that stacks against the halls closing at 8:00 p.m. A Saturday evening ticket at 13.00 euros and a free headline set at 9:15 p.m. in the city centre is a coherent evening for the price of a round of drinks.

How big this really is

Koelnmesse's published figures for gamescom 2025:

For scale against the show this archive knows best: Gen Con 2025 reported nearly 72,000 attendees, and we pulled that number apart in the Gen Con 2025 review. gamescom's 357,000 is just under five times that. The honest caveat is the same one we raised there — the two shows do not publish comparable methodologies, and Gen Con released its figure without splitting unique attendees from turnstile counts, so treat the ratio as an order of magnitude rather than a measurement.

The visitor survey figures are the ones that will actually change how you plan. Around 60 per cent of private visitors attend on more than one day. More than 63 per cent come with two or more people. Almost 80 per cent visit the merchandise area. And 19 per cent turn up in costume — roughly one in five of a 357,000-person crowd, which is the context for a dedicated cosplay village and a contest with its own arena stage.

For 2026, the structural news is that all available exhibition area is booked up for the first time. game and Koelnmesse say they are already working on expansion concepts from 2027 onward. Tim Endres, director of gamescom, called the sell-out "a strong signal for the entire industry" and noted the floor was only just expanded the year before.

The confirmed exhibitor list published in July includes aerosoft, astragon, Bandai Namco, Bilibili, Capcom, CD PROJEKT RED, Daybreak Games, Deep Silver, Douyin, Electronic Arts, Embark Studios, Fandom, Focus Entertainment, GIANTS Software, Google Play, HoYoverse, IGN, Konami, Krafton, Level Infinite, Nazara, NC, NetEase, Nintendo, Republic of Gamers, SEGA, Tencent Games, The LEGO Group, TikTok, Ubisoft and Xbox, among others.

Getting there, and the rail warning

The Köln Messe/Deutz high-speed station sits directly next to the exhibition grounds, and gamescom puts the Confex about a two-minute walk from it — which is a strong argument for not driving.

The warning gamescom has posted on its own arrival page for 2026 is worth repeating in full, because it is current and it is specific: ongoing construction may cause closures and restrictions on rail service and local public transport (KVB) in and around Cologne. Check your route in advance, look at alternatives, and allow extra time. That is the organiser telling you the trains may not do what your map app thinks they will.

If you are driving to Opening Night Live specifically, gamescom directs ONL traffic to car park P21.

One genuinely good 2026 addition: the digital on-site locator now filters for accessible toilets and free water dispensers alongside exhibitors and food. On a 233,000-square-metre floor in late August, the water filter is not a novelty feature.

What has not been announced yet

Being straight about the edges, because a pre-show guide that pretends everything is settled is worse than no guide.

The gamescom award nominees are not out. They land August 24 in a press release and on the award page.

The GDQ run schedule is not published. The gamescom GDQ page carries headings for Friday, Saturday and Sunday with no runs listed under them yet.

The full ONL rundown is not public. Three items are named — METRO 2039 and The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past from gamescom, plus Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons from Wizards' own Gen Con keynote — and the rest is the usual sealed envelope.

Whether any further Saturday capacity gets released is unstated. The Saturday day tiers read sold out; gamescom has published nothing about a second release, and the evening ticket remains on sale.

Quick Action Checklist

• Stop refreshing Saturday. All three Saturday day-ticket tiers are sold out. The 13.00 euro Saturday evening ticket is the remaining route in on that day.
• Do not plan on Wednesday. It is the trade visitor and media day; private access needs a Wildcard, from 1:00 p.m. only, and the Wildcard is sold out.
• Bring photo ID and get the wristband outside, before the entrance. Without it, USK 16+ and 18+ booths are closed to you, and there are only seven in-hall stands across six halls to fix it.
• If you are coming for business, treat it as a three-day show. The business area is closed Saturday and Sunday, and legitimization can take 48 hours.
• Budget the congress separately. 111.00 euros on Thursday, and it does not include entry to gamescom.
• Check your trains twice. Koelnmesse's own arrival page warns of construction closures on rail and KVB services around Cologne.
• Pair a Saturday evening ticket with the city festival — halls close at 8:00 p.m., Thees Uhlmann is on at 9:15 p.m. at the Hohenzollernring, and the festival is free.
