How to Watch Tokyo Game Show 2026: All 15 Programs

The first broadcast on Tokyo Game Show 2026's official programme list goes out two days before anybody walks through a door at Makuhari Messe, and it is not even in Chiba. TGS has been a hybrid show for years, but the 2026 official programme makes the split unusually clean: fifteen scheduled broadcasts landing on six of the seven calendar days from September 15 to 21, of which four are not Event Stage sessions at all.

If you are watching from North America the other complication is arithmetic. Japan runs UTC+9 with no daylight saving; the US is still on daylight time through October. That is a sixteen-hour gap to Pacific and thirteen to Eastern, which means all eleven Event Stage sessions start on the previous calendar day in Pacific time. The Opening Ceremony is a Thursday morning session in Japan and a Wednesday-evening one in California.

The streams start before the show does

Two programmes run before TGS opens, and CESA lists both on the official programme page alongside the on-site sessions.

Tuesday, September 15, 18:00-19:45 JST is the announcement and awards ceremony for the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award and Game of the Year Division of the Japan Game Awards 2026. The official listing is specific about where it happens: the ceremony "used to be held in the event stage in the Tokyo Game Show", and this year it "will be held in Tokyo" as a pre-night festival for TGS 2026. So this one is not at Makuhari Messe at all. The listing names the awards being announced — the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award, the Breakthrough Award, the Movement Award, the Special Award, the Game Designers Award and the Awards of Excellence — and states that the Grand Award is selected from the Awards for Excellence. Hikaru Ijuin and Misaki Maeda are named as MCs.

Wednesday, September 16, 23:00-23:50 JST is CAPCOM SPOTLIGHT｜TGS 2026, and the listing describes it as a pre-recorded stream rather than a live one. It is also, of the fifteen programmes on the official list as of September 12, the one entry that publishes an English option: it lists a Japanese YouTube stream, an English YouTube stream and a Japanese Niconico stream.

That late-night Japanese slot converts kindly. 23:00 JST on the 16th is 7:00 a.m. Pacific and 10:00 a.m. Eastern the same morning — no alarm required at either end of the country.

The full programme in four time zones

Fifteen programmes, 17 hours 30 minutes of scheduled airtime, eleven of them tagged as Event Stage performances and four listed without a stage tag. Start times below are converted from the official listing; JST is UTC+9 and does not observe daylight saving, while PDT, EDT and BST all do on these dates.

Three things fall out of that grid.

The public-day stage sessions are US evening television. LOLLIPOP CHAINSAW NEW PROJECT lands at 5:40 p.m. Pacific on Friday the 18th. Red Bull Revenge starts 5:40 p.m. Pacific on Sunday the 20th and runs four hours forty minutes — the longest single block on the whole schedule, and per the official listing a Street Fighter 6 invitational built around four rematches.

The Thursday block runs from UK small hours into UK lunchtime. Everything on September 17 in Japan sits between 1:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. BST.

And September 18 is empty. More on that below.

The eight official channels, and which ones have a link

The programme page says broadcasts "will be available on eight social media and video streaming services" and names them. What it does not say out loud is that only half of the eight point at an actual Tokyo Game Show account. Checked against the live page on September 12:

YouTube and Twitch are the two video platforms with a TGS channel behind the link; X and TikTok are the social accounts. For Nico Nico, DouYu, bilibili and Douyin, the official page sends you to the service and leaves you to find the channel yourself.

The Opening Ceremony is a stream-only event

This is the detail worth knowing before you plan a Thursday around it. The official Opening Ceremony listing says the ceremony "will be streamed live online" and then adds a note in the same entry: on-site viewing "is limited to invited guests and event personnel only."

So a business-day pass does not get you into the room. For everyone who is not on the invite list — in Chiba or in Chicago — the ceremony is a stream, full stop. It runs 09:30-10:00 JST on Thursday, September 17, which is 5:30 p.m. Pacific and 8:30 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday the 16th.

Friday, September 18 has nothing on it

TGS 2026 runs five days. The official programme list covers 9/15, 9/16, 9/17, 9/19, 9/20 and 9/21 — and skips 9/18 entirely. The Event Stage timetable shows the same shape: a Friday column with no blocks in it.

September 18 is the second business day — the official period listing gives Business Days as September 17 and 18, 10:00 to 17:00 — so the show floor is open; it is the broadcast schedule that is blank. Business-day attendees do have a separate track: TGS runs sponsored sessions and seminars in the International Conference Hall on both the 17th and the 18th. Those are conference sessions with their own listing, not part of the official broadcast programme, and none of them appears on the Event Stage timetable. If your plan was to catch a Friday stream, as published there is nothing scheduled to catch. Both pages carry the standard warning that details are subject to change without notice, so a late addition is possible — but do not build a Friday around a programme CESA has not announced.

Which stage sessions are confirmed to stream

Here the official site is less definitive than its own headline suggests, and it is worth being precise about the gap.

The Event Stage page's lead blurb ends with "You can also watch it online." Its notices at the foot of the same page say something narrower: "Some stages will be streamed, recorded live, or filmed."

As of September 12, exactly one of the eleven Event Stage sessions carries a published stream link in the official listing — the Touken Ranbu ONLINE x Touken Ranbu Pazugiri Special Stage on Sunday the 20th, with a Japanese-language YouTube live link. The other ten list no stream destination yet. That is not the same as a confirmation they will not stream; it means the links have not been published, and the Opening Ceremony entry separately promises a live stream without carrying one.

Some other things the Event Stage page does state plainly, if you are going in person: the stage is expected to hold roughly 600 seated and 200 standing, admission is generally first-come first-served, individual stage organisers may restrict attendance or require advance reservations, and photography or recording may be banned depending on the session. The site's 30th anniversary listing places the keynote at "Hall 1 Event Stage".

The four broadcasts that are not on the stage

Four programmes on the list carry no Event Stage tag. These are the ones where the stream is the whole product.

The Xbox slot is the one most likely to matter to a non-Japanese audience, and the official blurb keeps it to one sentence: tune in for announcements of games coming to Xbox. No titles are named on the TGS listing.

What is not published yet

Being straight about the gaps beats filling them.

• Twelve of the fifteen programmes have no stream link. Only CAPCOM SPOTLIGHT, the XBOX broadcast and the Touken Ranbu stage publish a stream destination on the official page today. The twelve without one are ten of the eleven Event Stage sessions, the Japan Game Awards Game of the Year ceremony and the Mabinogi Mobile special.
• The 30th Anniversary Title Talk Stage does not name its title. The listing describes a 30th-anniversary franchise and producers, and adds that "information about pre-streamed programs will be announced at a later date." Guessing which franchise it is would be guessing.
• No archive or VOD policy is stated on the programme page. Whether these broadcasts stay up afterwards, and for how long, is not published.
• No headline exhibitor or booth count. CESA's news feed still has not put out one; the newest item there is "TGS NEWS STUDIO Episode 2 Now Available", dated September 13 JST (Japan is 16 hours ahead of Pacific, so that timestamp is already current).
• One listing is visibly recycled. The LOLLIPOP CHAINSAW NEW PROJECT entry is written in the past tense and describes a session that already took place, cosplayer and replica weapon included. Treat it as boilerplate carried over, not a preview of Saturday. We have not repeated any of it here.

Quick Action Checklist

• Subtract 16 hours for Pacific, 13 for Eastern, 8 for UK. JST does not shift; PDT, EDT and BST all do, and all three are still on summer time in September.
• Set the Opening Ceremony alarm for Wednesday, not Thursday. 09:30 JST Thursday the 17th is 5:30 p.m. Pacific Wednesday the 16th.
• Bookmark YouTube and Twitch. They are the two video platforms among the eight listed services with a real TGS channel behind the link; X and TikTok are the social accounts, and the other four point at a service home page.
• Do not wait for the show to open to start watching. The Japan Game Awards ceremony streams on the 15th and Capcom's pre-recorded showcase on the 16th, both before the doors open on the 17th.
• Do not plan a Friday. September 18 has no official programme listed at all.
• Capcom is the civilised-hour one for US viewers. 23:00 JST on the 16th is 7:00 a.m. Pacific and 10:00 a.m. Eastern the same day. It is pre-recorded, so there is nothing live to miss if you catch it late.
• Re-check the Event Stage page before each session. Ten of eleven stage sessions have no stream link published yet, and CESA states details can change without notice.
• If you want English audio, start with the Capcom showcase. Its official entry names an English YouTube stream alongside the Japanese one.
