PUBG Esports 2027: Four Phases and the New Points System

On 28 October KRAFTON announced how PUBG Esports will run in 2027: four Phases that each pair a Regional League with a PUBG Global Series, one PUBG Esports Points system that only PGS results feed, new regions including India, and Global Partner Teams that no longer hold guaranteed slots. Here is what changes from 2026, what the announcement says about the extra seed for a champion's region, and what it leaves unanswered.

In 2027, qualifying for a PUBG Global Series stops being something a team can bank. KRAFTON's 28 October announcement says it outright: "securing a spot in one Phase does not guarantee participation in the next." The year splits into four Phases, each one a Regional League followed by a PGS, and every team, Global Partner Teams included, has to earn its PGS seat again each time.

This post covers what KRAFTON has published about 2027 as of 1 November 2026: the new structure, the single points system, the calendar, and the questions the announcement leaves open. How teams reach PGC 2026 this December is a separate question, and the PGC 2026 qualification guide answers it.

What changes from 2026 to 2027

The 2026 column comes from KRAFTON's March points and seed roadmap. The 2027 column comes from the 28 October announcement. Where the announcement is silent, the table says so.

The announcement doesn't say how many PGS events there are in 2027, or how many teams play each one. 2026 has 12 events of 24 teams.

Four Phases, each with its own Regional League

Each Phase is a pair: a Regional League, then the PGS that its results feed. KRAFTON's graphic lays out the four rows.

KRAFTON's 'A New Road to PGC' graphic: Phase 1 (Mar-May) to Phase 4 (Sep-Nov), each pairing a Regional League box with a PUBG Global Series box, all feeding one PUBG Esports Points block. Underneath, three bullets: each Phase begins with Regional Leagues, points are earned exclusively through PGS and accumulate through the year, and those points count toward PGC qualification.

The announcement's wording on qualification is plain: "All teams will qualify for PGS based on their performance in the Regional League for each Phase." It frames the point as turnover: new challengers get a route to the global stage, and "established teams must continue to prove themselves."

The region list is the other change. The existing EMEA region is divided into Europe, Eurasia and MENA, and the Americas into North America and South America. India, which KRAFTON calls "home to a massive community of PUBG fans and players," joins as a new competitive region. The announcement says nothing about China, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam or Rest of APAC, so don't read either a change or a continuation into that silence.

The extra seed after a PGS win

One new rule rewards a region for producing a champion: "the region of the previous PGS champion will receive one additional seed for the following PGS." The extra seed isn't handed to the winning team. It goes to the champion's region, and "teams qualifying from each region, including the additional seed, will be determined by their performance in the next Phase's Regional League."

A hypothetical to show the mechanics: if a team from Eurasia wins the Phase 1 PGS, Eurasia gets one more PGS seat than normal for Phase 2, and the Phase 2 Eurasia Regional League decides which teams fill all of them. A win doesn't reserve anything for the winner.

Global Partner Teams must earn their PGS seats

In 2026 PGS fields were built from two sources: 12 PUBG Esports Global Partner Teams and 12 regional teams. From 2027, per KRAFTON, "the Global Partner Team (GPT) program will evolve into a partnership focused on collaborative in-game items and marketing activities." All teams, "including existing GPT teams, will need to earn their place at PGS through their performance in each Phase's Regional League, without guaranteed slots."

KRAFTON says the details of the updated partnership "will be shared in a future announcement." Nothing published says which organisations remain partners, or what they get instead of a seat.

PUBG Esports Points replace PGC and PGS Points

2026 runs two points ladders. Each region runs its own PGC Points standings from regional play, and PGS Points come from the global events. 2027 has one. The announcement: "points will be awarded exclusively based on performance at PGS." Those PUBG Esports Points "accumulate throughout the year and count toward qualification for PGC."

Two consequences follow from KRAFTON's own wording. First, a Regional League result no longer earns points of its own. It earns a PGS seat, and only what a team does there is scored. Second, the points are cumulative across all four Phases, while seats are not: a team can be out of Phase 3's PGS and still be holding points from Phases 1 and 2.

How many points each placing pays, and how those points turn into PGC places, hasn't been published. The announcement says it "will be announced separately." The 2026 tables in the qualification guide aren't a safe guide to 2027's.

The 2027 calendar

KRAFTON's schedule, marked "subject to change":

EventDates
Phase 1 (Regional League, then PGS)Late March to early May
Phase 2Mid May to mid June
2027 PUBG Nations Cup (PNC)Early July
Phase 3Early August to mid September
Phase 4Late September to early November
2027 PUBG Global Championship (PGC)Late November to early December

KRAFTON's 2027 Esports Calendar graphic: a March-to-July band with Phase 1 (late March to early May) and Phase 2 (mid May to mid June), each showing Regional League over Global Series, and a yellow 2027 PNC block in July; and an August-to-December band with Phase 3 (early August to mid September), Phase 4 (late September to early November) and a yellow 2027 PGC block over late November and December.

Each Phase's Regional League and PGS share one window, so the calendar doesn't say how long a league runs before its PGS starts. The first half closes with the Nations Cup in July, and PGC comes after Phase 4's PGS.

What 2026 still decides

None of this changes PGC 2026. Its 32 seats are set by the 2026 rules: PGS Points, regional PGC Points and the host wildcard. PGS 12, the last PGS of 2026, is on the final day of its Grand Finals today, 1 November, and this post has no results from it. Team Liquid won PGS 11 on 25 October, per KRAFTON's 29 October feature, and Virtus.pro won PGS 10, per its 21 October results article.

What KRAFTON has not announced yet

The announcement lists these as coming in "future updates":

  • Regional League schedules and formats. Phase windows are given, but not how each league runs.
  • The PUBG Esports Points table. No per-placing values.
  • PGC 2027 qualification. How cumulative points translate into seats, and whether any regional seats survive, isn't stated.
  • The full list of regions. Only the splits and India are named.
  • PGS size and count. Events per Phase and teams per event aren't given.
  • The partner programme. Who is a partner in 2027, and what that means.
  • A "new look." KRAFTON says "a new look for PUBG Esports is also on the way" and gives no detail.

The announcement doesn't mention TPP or FPP, prize pools, or where PNC and PGC will be held.

Quick Action Checklist

  • Remember the unit: a Phase is one Regional League plus its PGS, four times a year
  • Treat PGS seats as re-earned each Phase, with no carry-over and no guaranteed slots for Global Partner Teams
  • Follow the right Regional League: EMEA and the Americas are split, and India is new
  • Expect one extra PGS seat for the region of the previous PGS champion
  • Don't assume the 2026 points tables apply: PUBG Esports Points values haven't been published
  • Mark the windows, which are subject to change: Phase 1 from late March, Nations Cup in early July, PGC in late November to early December
  • Keep using the 2026 rules for PGC 2026, which starts 1 December in Istanbul

Frequently Asked Questions

How does PUBG Esports work in 2027?
PUBG Esports in 2027 runs four Phases, each made of a Regional League and a matching PUBG Global Series (PGS). Teams qualify for each PGS through that Phase's Regional League, and qualification doesn't carry over to the next Phase. PUBG Esports Points, earned only at PGS, accumulate across the year and count toward PGC qualification. The 2027 PUBG Global Championship is planned for late November to early December. KRAFTON announced the structure on 28 October 2026.
What are PUBG Esports Points?
PUBG Esports Points are the single points system KRAFTON is introducing for PUBG Esports in 2027, replacing 2026's separate PGC Points and PGS Points. They are awarded only for PGS results, they accumulate through the year, and they count toward qualifying for the PUBG Global Championship. KRAFTON has not yet published how many points each placing earns or how the points convert into PGC places.
What happens to Global Partner Teams in PUBG Esports 2027?
From 2027 the Global Partner Team (GPT) programme becomes a partnership focused on collaborative in-game items and marketing, and GPT teams no longer have guaranteed PGS slots. KRAFTON says all teams, including existing GPT teams, must earn a PGS place through their Regional League results in each Phase. Details of the updated partnership are still to be announced.
Which regions are in PUBG Esports 2027?
KRAFTON's 28 October 2026 announcement splits EMEA into Europe, Eurasia and MENA, splits the Americas into North America and South America, and adds India as a new competitive region. It doesn't list the full set of 2027 regions, and says nothing about the China, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam or Rest of APAC leagues that ran in 2026.
When are the 2027 PUBG Esports Phases and PGC?
KRAFTON's subject-to-change schedule is: Phase 1 from late March to early May, Phase 2 from mid May to mid June, the 2027 PUBG Nations Cup in early July, Phase 3 from early August to mid September, Phase 4 from late September to early November, and the 2027 PUBG Global Championship in late November to early December. Regional League schedules and formats will be announced later.
What is the extra PGS seat for the previous champion's region?
Under the 2027 PUBG Esports rules, the region of the previous PGS champion receives one additional seed for the following PGS. The seat goes to the region, not the winning team, and teams for it are decided by the next Phase's Regional League.
