CRK v7.9 Update Guide — Mortal Flames, Eternal Change

Cookie Run: Kingdom's September 23 update puts a sixth Beast on the roster, but the changes that reach furthest into your account are three new pieces of Topping tech. Mirror Toppings copy the bonus effects of a +12 Epic Topping without consuming it. Topping Sets fold five Toppings and a Topping Tart into one item that upgrades to +12. And Pride-Filled Toppings are the first Resonant set that isn't locked to a named list of Cookies. A Beast is one Cookie. Topping systems touch every Cookie you gear.

Devsisters' notice is simply titled the September 23 update; its headline Timeline of Fate chapter is Mortal Flames, Eternal Change, and the Cookie Run: Kingdom wiki's pages for both new Cookies file the update under that name as v7.9. The rules below come from Devsisters' official September 23 Update Notice unless a line names another source — and where the notice leaves a number out, this guide either says so or names the wiki the number comes from.

What shipped on September 23

Smaller lines from the same notice: new Star Collection nodes, six Cookies added to CookieChat (Rajapendra, Mogra, Seltzer, Menthol, Doughael and Marshmallow Bunny), a Legendary costume for Burning Spice Cookie called Embrace of Jasmine Flames, the Merciful Doom Icing set, and nickname reuse for accounts inactive for more than a year.

Mirror Toppings: copy a +12 roll without losing it

A Mirror Topping copies another Topping's bonus effects and their values. The rules, straight from the notice:

• Same rarity only. Only Epic Mirror Toppings exist so far, and only Epic Toppings upgraded to +12 can be picked as the source.
• The original is not consumed. It remains intact after copying, and removing it later doesn't change the copy.
• Copies get a floor. Any bonus effect below its Minimum Copy Value is raised to that minimum. The notice's own example: an original with ATK +1.0% copied under a 2.0% minimum gives the Mirror ATK +2.0%.
• Copy attempts are limited. While attempts remain, you can re-copy from a different Topping, which replaces the Mirror's existing bonus effects. When they run out, the Copy button is disabled.
• One original, one Mirror at a time. A Topping already copied to a Mirror drops off the target list. Re-copying that Mirror from something else frees the original to be copied again.
• A copied Mirror can't be broken down.

The copy-target rule means one great Topping can feed only one Mirror at a time. You can move which Mirror it's linked to, but you can't copy the same original onto several Mirrors at once. So pick the source deliberately — the +12 Epic whose bonus lines you'd most want on a second Cookie.

The floor rule changes that pick. Low lines are lifted to the minimum and everything else copies at its original value, so a Mirror can match its source or beat it on a given line, but it can't come out lower. A +12 Topping with two excellent lines and one weak one can be a better copy target than it looks: if the weak line sits below its Minimum Copy Value, the copy lifts it to that minimum. The actual minimums aren't in the notice — tap Minimum Bonus Effects Copied (or a completed Mirror's icon) to see them, and any effect raised to its minimum shows in a different colour on the preview screen.

One housekeeping note: Mirror Toppings you haven't copied onto yet sort to the top of your Topping list regardless of sort order, followed by copied Mirrors that still have attempts left, most attempts first.

What the notice doesn't tell you: where Mirror Toppings come from, how many copy attempts one carries, the per-effect minimum values, or what main stat a Mirror has. Check the item's info screen before you commit a copy.

Tip: A copied Mirror can't be broken down, so treat your first copy as close to permanent even though re-copying is allowed. A re-copy spends an attempt and replaces every bonus effect the Mirror had.

Topping Sets: five Toppings and a Tart in one item

A Topping Set combines five Toppings and a Topping Tart into one item, managed from a new Topping Set tab inside the Toppings menu.

Two practical reads. First, the Coin cost runs in both directions, so moving a Cookie between a Set and loose gear is a charge you pay every time, not once — decide per Cookie, not per fight. Second, the bonus-effects row isn't hypothetical. The wiki's Sublime Cake Tower page lists Topping bonus effects among the effects switched off inside the tower, alongside Bonds, the Sugar Gnome Laboratory, Costume Sets, Guild Level, Guild Relics, Landmarks and the Statue of Heroic Radiance. In there, a Set is its main stats and nothing else.

What's missing: the notice doesn't say how you obtain a Topping Set, what its main stats are, or how its upgrade success rates compare with a regular Topping's. Pride-Filled: the first Resonant set without a roster

The update ships two Resonant Topping sets, each in ten types — Raspberry, Walnut, Peanut, Caramel, Apple Jelly, Chocolate, Almond, Hazelnut, Candy and Kiwi:

Cycle-Burning pairs the update's two new Cookies with a veteran who fits the theme, Burning Spice. Pride-Filled is the break from form. The wiki's Resonant Toppings table lists 38 sets before this update, and each of them carries a named roster — the largest, Smithy, covers 41 Cookies. Pride-Filled's roster is a rule rather than a list, and the two new sets take the total to 40.

Read the notice's wording carefully, though. Its first line on the set says Pride-Filled is "usable by all Cookies"; the line beneath it says the set "can be equipped by all eligible Cookie rarities" and tells you to check each Topping's info. It never says which rarities are eligible. Until you've checked the info screen for the Cookie you're gearing, read "all" as "all Cookies of the eligible rarities".

The rest is standard Resonant behaviour, restated in the same notice: Resonant Toppings have higher bonus-effect values than regular Toppings, their bonus effects can differ from a regular Topping's, and you don't need to equip Resonant Toppings exclusively to get a set effect. The notice doesn't say where either new set drops; the wiki lists Events and the Event Shop as the general sources for Resonant Toppings, which arrive as a Choice Chest you open from Storage — the Cycle-Burning chest's own text reads "Choose one of the ten Cycle-Burning Toppings."

The two new Cookies

Rarity, type and skill names come from the notice; position and cooldown come from the wiki's page for each Cookie. The notice describes both kits in words only, but cookierun.wiki's skill boxes for Rajapendra and Mogra carry the numbers, and the ones that change how you play around each Cookie are below. Rajapendra Cookie of Mortality

The wiki's Beast category now holds six Cookies with Rajapendra the newest, and its trivia calls him the first of the Beasts from Shadow Milk Cookie's alternate timeline to be released — an alternative-universe version of Burning Spice Cookie.

Fire Centipede runs in three beats. A Rampage damages nearby enemies and grants allies Rampaging Power. A giant Fire Centipede then burns all enemies with continuous damage. Finally it burrows and strikes for heavy damage, applying Brand of Mortality to all enemy Cookies — including Cookies that are currently untargetable.

The passive is the part to plan around. At the start of battle Rajapendra gains Rampage of Change and inflicts Spice of Mortality on the Cookie with the highest Max HP in the enemy front row, falling back to the middle row and then the rear if a row is empty. Spice of Mortality:

• can't be removed until that Cookie is defeated,
• deals increasing damage over time,
• jumps to the nearest enemy when its host falls, carrying its increased damage and existing Injury,
• is never applied to Rajapendra himself unless he's the last Cookie remaining.

He also gains Excess Abundance each time the afflicted Cookie uses a skill, or after a set time passes, and at max stacks he gains Inviolable Will. The notice doesn't say what Inviolable Will does; cookierun.wiki's skill box does, and it puts numbers on the Spice too:

Read that against your own team. By those numbers he opens the battle two stacks short of max, so the first 3-second tick or the first skill from the afflicted Cookie gives him Inviolable Will; the skill box doesn't say whether the stacks reset after it triggers. What your lineup decides is where the Spice lands: if your front row is built around a high-HP tank, that tank carries the unremovable damage, the Injury and the debuffs until it falls.

Mogra Cookie

Mogra heals with her basic attacks — healing the notice says is unaffected by ATK SPD changes — and periodically gains Story Records stacks. Storytelling opens a scroll that heals all allies over time and grants HP Shields and DMG Resist, with a greater DMG Resist buff for Burning Spice Cookie. It then spends every Story Records stack to Stun enemies and spread the Story to ally Cookies, with stronger effects the more stacks were consumed; at max stacks it also grants an All-type CRIT DMG buff. She starts each battle with Storyteller's Wisdom.

cookierun.wiki's skill box supplies the numbers. The scroll heals all allies every 0.5 sec for 5.0 sec at 27.0% of ATK per tick at base skill level, 67.6% at max. The HP Shield is 35% of each target's Max HP and the DMG Resist buff is +20% (+30% for Burning Spice), both for 15 sec, and the Stun lasts 2.5 sec. Story Records come in at x1 per basic-attack heal plus x2 every 5.0 sec, up to x10. Storyteller's Wisdom adds x3 more per basic-attack heal once her Cooldown reduced by Toppings reaches 30%, the threshold our Mogra Cookie build is built around.

She's an Epic, and the update's own content keeps writing her in:

That's four separate hooks in one notice for a Cookie of Epic rarity — and three of them sit in the update's two headline modes, the Raid and Ep. 11.

The Rajapendra of Mortality Raid

A time-limited raid in four seasons. Per the notice's schedule, the fourth and final season closed on October 21, so this section is a record of how it ran. The first three seasons each restricted which elements you could field; the fourth opened all elements:

The notice doesn't give a time zone for these windows, and raid battles were unavailable during tallying. Mogra Cookie could be placed in any season.

How it scores. Your season rank is the sum of your three highest battle scores that season, compared after difficulty multipliers; with fewer than three records, everything you have counts, and a higher score replaces a lower one. Rank and scores reset each season. Separately, every battle earns Contribution based on actual damage and difficulty, added to both a server-wide total and your personal total — also reset each season. There are two difficulties, Normal and Hard, with Hard unlocking once you reach a set score in Normal (one line of the notice calls it "Master"; the rest say Hard).

How the boss fights.

• Transformation: once in Normal, twice in Hard. The boss adapts to the element that dealt the most attacks, becoming resistant to it and vulnerable to other elements after transforming.
• Elemental Resonance: field three or more Cookies whose skills share an element, and their Element-type ATK rises by 15% per Cookie.
• Doomfire: continuous damage plus an ATK-weakening debuff. Mogra Cookie can dispel it.

Resonance and Transformation pull against each other: one rewards stacking a single element, the other makes the boss resist whichever element hit it most. The notice doesn't say how much resistance a transformation grants, so it can't tell you where the trade-off breaks even — but it's the reason a mono-element team's damage isn't guaranteed to hold across a Hard run's two transformations.

Rewards.

Bravery Marks come from the number of times you dealt damage to the boss, and damage from Burn, Poison and similar effects isn't counted. A damage-over-time team — Rajapendra's own Fire Centipede Burn included — earns its marks from direct hits only.

Entry costs Rajapendra Raid Tickets, which refill over time and can be bought with Crystals up to a purchase limit. Because rank only counts your top three runs, once you have three strong scores only a run that beats your third-best moves you up. Contribution and marks keep accruing from every battle, so tickets past that point still pay — just not in rank.

Note: The raid's schedule ended with Season 4 on October 21. Bravery Marks carried over between seasons, but the notice only promised they would remain until the end of Season 4.

Ep. 11, Kingdom Eras and the new main screen

Timeline of Fate Ep. 11, Flames that Devour the Ages, opens a new chapter, Mortal Flames, Eternal Change, and can be played without clearing previous episodes. From the "Faint Scent of Jasmine" stage, the Flame of Annihilation Land Rule applies: enemies periodically stack a buff that raises their ATK SPD, then spend a stack when attacking to inflict Max HP and DMG Dealt debuffs. Burning Spice Cookie and Rajapendra Cookie gain ATK Up instead of the debuff. From the same stage you get the Seed of Change Tactical Skill, which cleanses every Flame of Annihilation debuff from your team and restores HP; it charges when every Flame stack on an enemy expires or when an enemy is Incapacitated. The September 23 notice said Ep. 12 would follow in the next update.

Update, October 26, 2026: It did. Devsisters' October 7 Update Notice added Ep. 12, A Sun That Shines Eternal, to the same chapter. Flame of Annihilation and Seed of Change apply from its "Silent Outcry" stage, and from "The Pulse of Change" a second effect, Flame of Mortality, joins them: enemies stack DMG Dampening buffs, spend a stack when attacking to cut the target's Max HP and DMG dealt while inflicting bonus Burn damage, and recover HP whenever all their stacks are consumed. Burning Spice and Rajapendra get an ATK buff instead of the debuff, Mogra gets greatly increased ATK and DMG Dampening, Seed of Change cleanses both Flames, and Mogra still speeds up its charge. The October 21 update then moved Timeline of Fate on to a new chapter, Cradle for the Sleepless Dragon, with Ep. 13.

Kingdom Eras is a new progression layer spanning five Eras — Dawn, Pioneers, Prosperity, Inquiry and Wonders. You collect Light of Eras from quests in the Kingdom to claim Level Rewards, each of which restores part of a faded mural. Ending an Era takes its Conclusion Task: complete every Required Mission plus a set number of Select Missions, claim the Conclusion Rewards, and the next Era begins. The notice doesn't list the rewards.

The main screen is reorganised:

• Kingdom Affairs now holds Edit, Storage, CookieChat, Activity and Production, plus a new Item Portal tab that shows an item's description and where to obtain it.
• Kingdom Gate groups Kingdom Arena, Guild and Town Square.
• A Quest Portal on the right of the screen sorts active quests into All, World Exploration, Kingdom, Special Episodes, Odyssey and Achievements; pin one and it tracks along the bottom of the screen.
• The Cookies screen tabs become Cookies, Treasures, Costumes and a new MyCookie tab, and, after the September 23 update, the left menu carried Call of Destiny, Setting Guide, Guest Cookies and Hire Out Your Cookie. Later updates may have rearranged the menu, so check where these sit in your own client.

Cutscene and voice data for some episodes now download when you first open them rather than at install, with a download prompt in Timeline of Fate, Beast-Yeast, Special Episodes and the Tower of Records. Partial download is on by default and can be switched off under Settings > Game > Partial Download, in which case everything downloads at once from the title screen. The notice itself warns that data charges may apply off Wi-Fi, so if you play on mobile data, switching it off and downloading once on Wi-Fi keeps those downloads off your data plan.

The changes that move numbers in older guides

Four changes in this notice move numbers you may already be planning around. Here's what moved.

Kingdom Pass

Before the update, cookierun.wiki's Kingdom Pass table listed the two removed Star Jelly rewards at premium levels 13 and 23. Its post-update table lists level 13 as 5 Treasure Tickets, moved from level 12 per the page's v7.9 changelog, and the notice itself doesn't say which levels the replacements occupy. Our Kingdom Pass guide lists the premium track's headline rewards by level as they stand after this update, including the doubled Daily Reward. Tart Cores, per Devsisters' July 29 notice, are used to upgrade Legendary Topping Tarts, change their bonus effect and reset upgrades. That notice names breaking down Legendary Topping Tarts and Trials of the Nether Realm rewards as sources, and it added a Tart Cores x100 item to the Mine Shop.

Cookie Odyssey

The notice reduces Cookie Odyssey mission difficulty, removes the daily limit on available missions, and lets missions be completed without time or attempt limits. The wiki's Cookie Odyssey page puts that old limit at ten mission clears a day. Our Special Episodes guide was written under the ten-per-day cap and budgets a 20-day floor per chapter from it; that floor doesn't apply after this update. If you were rationing Odyssey at ten missions a day, you no longer have to.

Trials of the Nether Realm

• Time Jumpers now pay out based on the farthest cleared node, not the farthest cleared zone, and only Battle Node rewards can still be obtained that way — clearing fewer Battle Nodes can mean fewer rewards.
• Fast-forward is available on nodes you've cleared manually at least once. The battle resolves instantly from your team setup, you can win or lose, and AP is deducted based on the result.
• Battle team slots go from three to six.
• Expedition Cookie lists are now saved when you end a run, instead of resetting.
• Node info shows the currently cleared Floor rather than only the Zone.

Burning Spice Cookie's balance pass

The notice lists only the new values. The right-hand column is the matching line from the wiki's Burning Spice Cookie skill box as it stood before the update:

The matching is by line: Enrage is the only per-stack CRIT% effect in his pre-update skill box, and the Fire Pit's -22.6% is the only ATK debuff it applies to enemies. Add the rest of the update — a greater DMG Resist buff from Mogra's skill, ATK Up instead of the debuff under Ep. 11's Flame of Annihilation, and Cycle-Burning as a new named Resonant set — and Burning Spice Cookie is on the receiving end of four separate gameplay changes in one notice. Our Burning Spice Cookie build was rechecked after the update and now covers the buffs, Cycle-Burning as one of his Resonant options, and Mogra's +30% DMG Resist for him.

Quick Action Checklist

1. Pick your Mirror source before you copy. Choose the +12 Epic whose bonus lines you'd most want on a second Cookie — one original can feed only one Mirror at a time, and a copied Mirror can't be broken down.
2. Check Pride-Filled eligibility on the Topping info screen before assuming a Cookie has no Resonant option; the notice limits it to eligible rarities without naming them.
3. Treat Topping Sets as a per-Cookie decision. Equipping and removing a Set both cost Coins.
4. Take Mogra into Timeline of Fate Ep. 11 and Ep. 12. Under both episodes' Flame effects she gains greatly increased ATK and DMG Dampening, and she charges Seed of Change significantly faster.
5. Stop rationing Cookie Odyssey. The ten-missions-a-day cap is gone.
6. Clear Trials of the Nether Realm nodes manually once to unlock fast-forward on them, and remember Time Jumper rewards now track your farthest node.
