Save the World Fortnitemares 2026: Grave Feather and Raven
Save the World's Halloween runs on its own clock, through November 18. Epic's October updates brought three hero questlines, and two of those heroes are Soldiers built around Lefty and Righty, the same ability v42.40 just buffed through two older perks. Here is what each questline asks for, when it closes, and how the new Challenge the Rift encounter works.

Battle Royale's Fortnitemares has a hard stop on November 1. Save the World's does not. The PvE side of the launcher runs its Halloween through the Hexsylvania Venture season, which Epic opened on September 3 and says runs through November 18, more than two weeks past the end of the Battle Royale event.
Epic's two October updates put three hero questlines in front of you. One of them is brand new in update v42.40 (October 15), and it comes with a new mission encounter, Challenge the Rift. The same update also reworked two old perks for Lefty and Righty, the Soldier ability that two of the three Halloween heroes are built around. That is the thread worth pulling, and we get to it below.
Where this comes from: Epic's Save the World v42.10, v42.20, v42.30 and v42.40 notes and its Fortnitemares Battle Royale post on the Fortnite Communities site, and the Fortnite Wiki for quest steps and numbers Epic does not publish. New to the mode? Our Save the World guide covers heroes, Ventures and progression. The Battle Royale side of the event is in our Fortnitemares 2026 guide.
Three questlines, three heroes, three clocks
| Questline | Hero reward | Class and rarity | Live since | Ends |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bladey Acres | Raven | Mythic Soldier | October 1 (v42.30) | October 28, per Epic |
| Portal Combat (new) | Grave Feather | Legendary Soldier | October 15 (v42.40) | Finish by November 18, per Epic |
| The Door to Darkness | Willow | Legendary Outlander | October 15 (v42.40) | No date of its own; its Venture season ends November 18 |
As of Friday, October 23, that leaves five days on Bladey Acres and 26 on Portal Combat. Epic gave The Door to Darkness no end date, but the wiki files it as a Hexsylvania Venture questline, and Epic's v42.10 notes close that season on November 18. Treat that as the latest it can run, not a promise it lasts that long.
One more hero may still be on the table. Epic's v42.20 notes (September 17) brought back Wolfy Business, which rewards Dire, a Mythic Ninja, and gave it no end date. We could not confirm whether it is still running, so check your Quest Log before you write it off.
The new questline also adds something the others do not: Challenge the Rift, a new encounter inside missions, which Epic's notes give no end date. More on it below.
All of these questlines pay out Candy along the way. Per Epic's v42.10 notes, missions earn it too, and 500 Candy buys a Fortnitemares Llama from the Exchange tab, stocked with Fortnitemares Heroes, Black Metal weapons and Cosplayer Survivors.
Raven first: Bladey Acres closes October 28

If you can only finish one questline this month, make it this one. It closes first, and Raven is the only Mythic of the three. Epic's v42.30 notes describe him as a Mythic Soldier from the Blockbuster Heroes set, with these perks:
| Raven perk | Effect, per Epic |
|---|---|
| Standard (Support slot): Bang and Pow | Increases Lefty and Righty damage to enemies by 25% |
| Commander: Bang and Pow+ | Increases Lefty and Righty damage by 25%, and Lefty and Righty cause explosions dealing 20 base Energy damage in a 0.5-tile radius |
The questline is themed on Shady Acres, Hexsylvania's summer camp, and is mostly a scavenger hunt. The wiki lists seven quests, and only the first has to be done in Shady Acres itself:
| Quest | Task | Where | Reward |
|---|---|---|---|
| Axes Of Evil | Destroy 7 Slasher Axes | Must be Shady Acres | 250 Candy |
| Notes From On The Ground | Find 5 Slasher journal clippings | Not the Haunted Hotel | 100 Gold |
| What's a landline? | Destroy 16 campfires for marshmallow sticks | Best in Shady Acres | 250 Candy |
| Lurk Free Zone | Find 5 backpacks | Not the Haunted Hotel | 50 Gold |
| Dry Docked | Find 5 canoe paddles | Not the Haunted Hotel | 500 Candy |
| Bury the Hatchet | Find 7 practice targets | Not the Haunted Hotel | Raven |
| OW. YOUR EYE. | Eliminate 50 enemies with bladed weapons | Not the Haunted Hotel | 50 Gold |
Two practical notes. Raven comes from Bury the Hatchet, which the wiki lists sixth of seven, so on the wiki's order the 50 blade eliminations come after he is already yours. And when that last quest does come up, the wiki's hint names what counts: swords, scythes or axes. The full questline pays 1,000 Candy, enough for two Fortnitemares Llamas, and 200 Gold on top of the hero.
Challenge the Rift: a Mini-Boss on demand
Epic's v42.30 notes ended on a tease: keep some BluGlo handy. v42.40 explains why. In Epic's words, you have probably wondered what "those Rifts scattered across the world" are for. Now they are a fight you can pick.
The rules, from Epic's v42.40 notes:
- Inside a mission, deposit four BluGlo into a Rift. That summons a circular battlefield around it with a Mini-Boss inside.
- Anyone can step into the circle, but nobody leaves until the Mini-Boss is down.
- Respawning puts you out of it. If you are eliminated and respawn outside the circle, you cannot re-enter.
- The barrier blocks all attacks from outside, so a teammate standing at the edge cannot help.
- Structures and Traps inside the circle are cleared before the fight starts. No pre-built kill box.
- If nobody inside is left standing, the Mini-Boss vanishes. Epic is blunt about it: "No restarts!"
Beat it and you get Gold, PERK-UP! and an Evolution Materials Cache. Epic does not publish amounts for any of the three.
The tactical read is in rules 2, 3 and 6. It is all or nothing for whoever walks in, so do not start it with one player while the rest of the squad is still on the objective. Get everyone who wants in inside the circle first, because a player who is eliminated and respawns outside cannot come back in, and every extra player in the ring is insurance against the whole thing vanishing. It also tells you to bring a loadout that wins a straight fight without your traps, since rule 5 wipes them.
Portal Combat: four quests to Grave Feather

Portal Combat is the new questline, and per the wiki it serves as the introduction to Challenge the Rift. It is one page, four quests:
| Quest | Task | Where | Reward |
|---|---|---|---|
| Portal Combat | Complete 1 Challenge the Rift | Any zone | 100 Gold, 150 Epic PERK-UP! |
| Storm Chasers | Eliminate 3 Mini-Bosses and collect Storm Energy | Any zone | 250 Candy, 1 Core RE-PERK! |
| Birds of a Feather | Eliminate 6 Zombie Chickens and collect Grave Feathers | Any Hexsylvania zone | 100 Gold, 1,000 People XP |
| Grave Expectations | Complete a Trap the Storm mission | Any Hexsylvania zone | Grave Feather |
The first two run anywhere, and Storm Chasers' quest text ties its Storm Energy to the Rifts, so a Challenge the Rift run is the obvious place to farm Mini-Bosses. The last two must happen in Hexsylvania. Trap the Storm is one of the two mission types the wiki lists as exclusive to that zone, alongside Survive the Night. If your account cannot open Hexsylvania yet, those two steps are where you will stall. We could not find Epic's current Venture unlock requirement, so check that the Hexsylvania tile is on your map before you plan around November 18.
Grave Feather himself is a Legendary Soldier from the Fortnitemares Heroes set. The wiki lists his abilities as Lefty and Righty, War Cry and Shockwave. His perks, per Epic:
| Grave Feather perk | Effect, per Epic |
|---|---|
| Standard (Support slot): Ghoulslinger | Increases Lefty and Righty Crit Rating by 15 |
| Commander: Ghoulslinger+ | Increases Lefty and Righty Crit Rating by 45. Crits have a 40% chance to summon a Phantasm, dealing Energy damage to a nearby enemy |
Epic does not say how hard a Phantasm hits. The wiki's perk entry does: 62 base Energy damage in a 0.5-tile radius, on a 1.5-second cooldown. The wiki's editors also report that Phantasms spawn from crits with any weapon, not only Lefty and Righty, and say it is not known whether that is intended. Epic's wording ("Crits have a 40% chance") does not rule it out, but treat it as a possible fix target rather than something to build a loadout on.
Willow and The Door to Darkness

The Door to Darkness is the other v42.40 questline, and like Bladey Acres it is a returning one. The wiki dates it to October 2019 and records it as tied to the Hexsylvania Venture since 2020. Willow is the odd one out of the three heroes: a Legendary Outlander, not a Soldier, and Epic's description is that she "hits harder the closer she is to becoming a ghost herself."
| Willow perk | Effect, per Epic |
|---|---|
| Standard (Support slot): Ghoulish Cackle | Increases ability damage based on the percentage of your missing health |
| Commander: Ghoulish Cackle+ | The same, plus ability eliminations have a chance to conjure a Phantasm that deals Energy damage to a nearby enemy |
The questline is set in the Haunted Hotel, and it is picky about mission type. The wiki lists eight quests, and six of them must be completed during a Survive the Night mission:
| Quest | Task | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Night 1: Rumors of Ghost Activity | Investigate the Haunted Hotel | 250 Candy |
| Night 2: Ghost Boss | Investigate 7 clues in the hotel (Survive the Night) | 50 Gold |
| Night 3: Leave This Place | Destroy 6 scary statues in the garden labyrinth (Survive the Night) | 500 Candy |
| Night 4: Hissing Contest | Gather 14 ectoplasm samples from hotel beds (Survive the Night) | 250 Candy |
| Night 5: Debnis | Deploy 5 spirit boards (Survive the Night) | 100 Gold |
| Night 6: Nice Ghost | Destroy 5 evil gnomes (Survive the Night) | 50 Gold |
| Day 7: Dear Ghost Diary | Collect 5 of Willow's diary pages (Survive the Night) | 500 Candy |
| The Door To Darkness | Deploy and defend the ghost vacuum | Willow |
That is 1,500 Candy, three Fortnitemares Llamas' worth, and 200 Gold before the hero. Watch the clash with Raven's questline: five of Bladey Acres' seven quests cannot be done in the Haunted Hotel, while Willow's are set in the hotel. Running both at once means alternating missions for most steps rather than clearing both in one run.
The real patch note: Lefty and Righty
Here is the part of v42.40 that matters after Halloween ends. Lefty and Righty is the Soldier ability that, per the wiki, equips two pistols firing 6 shots a second at 57 base physical damage per shot, for 10 seconds, on a 1 minute 40 second cooldown for 50 Energy. Raven boosts its damage. Grave Feather boosts its crits. And v42.40 rewrote the two perks that control how long it lasts and how often you get it.
Epic's notes say both perks were reworked "to allow you to use it more frequently without the elimination part," bringing them in line with their Goin' Commando counterparts, Goin' Again and Ain't Done Yet. The wiki's Lefty and Righty and Noir pages still carry the old text, which is how you can see what changed:
| Perk | Before v42.40 (wiki) | Since v42.40 (Epic) |
|---|---|---|
| Double Agent Evelynn, Where's Lefty | Each pistol elimination cuts the cooldown by 1 second (Support) or 5 seconds (Commander) | Cuts the cooldown by 30% (Support) or 66% (Commander) |
| Noir, Pump Metal | Each Lefty and Righty elimination adds 1 second (Support) or 2 seconds (Commander), up to 10 eliminations | Adds a flat 5 seconds (Support) or 20 seconds (Commander) |
Two things fall out of that. Commander Noir's new flat 20 seconds is exactly the old ceiling of 2 seconds times 10 eliminations, so the best case is now the guaranteed case. And Evelynn's perk no longer cares what you are shooting. On the wiki's base figures, before any other cooldown or duration bonuses:
| Loadout | Lefty and Righty duration | Cooldown |
|---|---|---|
| Base ability | 10 seconds | 100 seconds |
| Noir in Support | 15 seconds | 100 seconds |
| Noir as Commander | 30 seconds | 100 seconds |
| Evelynn in Support | 10 seconds | 70 seconds |
| Evelynn as Commander | 10 seconds | 34 seconds |
| Noir as Commander, Evelynn in Support | 30 seconds | 70 seconds |
Our read: with Raven and Grave Feather both arriving this month, Epic's notes point at one build. Raven in the Commander slot for the 25% damage and the explosions, with Grave Feather, Noir and Evelynn among your Support heroes for crit rating, duration and cooldown. This season, assembling it means finishing Bladey Acres by October 28 and Portal Combat by November 18. The Venture's modifier helps too: Epic's v42.10 notes say that under Short Range, enemies within two tiles of a player take extra damage from weapons and abilities, and those farther away take less, so a pistol ability fired up close is working with the modifier. Epic has published no numbers on how the reworked perks interact with other cooldown sources, so treat the table as base arithmetic, not a measured uptime.
Heroic Hours now have a clock in Homebase

A smaller v42.40 change: Heroic Hours now have their own display in Homebase, above the Quest Log board. Per Epic, it shows which Heroic Hours are running and exactly how long is left. v42.30 had already fixed them being mislabelled as "Power Hours" on the map and in the Quest Log. If you are squeezing three questlines into the next few weeks, check the board before you queue.
Quick Action Checklist
- Finish Bladey Acres by Wednesday, October 28. Raven, the Mythic Soldier, comes from Bury the Hatchet, the sixth of its seven quests
- Do Raven's quests outside the Haunted Hotel, and do Axes Of Evil in Shady Acres specifically
- Carry four BluGlo into missions and start Challenge the Rift only once everyone who wants in is inside the circle
- Clear Portal Combat by November 18. Steps three and four need Hexsylvania: six Zombie Chickens, then a Trap the Storm mission
- Run Survive the Night missions for Willow by November 18. Six of The Door to Darkness's eight quests require it, and Epic's notes run the Hexsylvania season through that day
- Check your Quest Log for Wolfy Business, in case Dire is still available
- Re-slot Double Agent Evelynn and Noir if you main Soldier; their Lefty and Righty perks no longer need eliminations
- Check the Heroic Hours board in Homebase before you queue
