Crimson Desert Achievements: All 34, Rarity and Missables

Five of Crimson Desert's 34 achievements come from the story and camp. The other 29 each ask for a whole family of Challenges. Here is every one with its Steam unlock rate, the Sealed Abyss Artifact rule, and the missables list rechecked against Pearl Abyss's patch notes.

The story is the easy part

Steam's global stats for Crimson Desert, read on October 2, 2026, say most of what you need to know about this achievement list. 76.9% of Steam players have Novice Adventurer for clearing Chapter 1. 10.3% have Expert Storyteller for finishing every main quest. And Steam shows 17 of the 34 achievements under 1%, with Natural Collector — all 12 challenges in the Life family — the rarest at 0.4%, roughly one Steam player in 250.

So the story is not the wall. Five achievements come from the story and the camp. The other 29 each ask you to finish an entire family of Challenges, and the Challenge system has a rule in it that can quietly throw away hours of work before you know it exists.

This guide covers the full list with what each achievement needs and how rare it is, that rule, the missable challenges rechecked against Pearl Abyss's patch notes — one of them was fixed on August 1 and the PowerPyx and Console Pulse trophy guides still list it — and the challenge bugs the patches have already cleared. The hidden ending tied to Conqueror of the Abysses is covered in our chapters and length guide, so it is not re-explained here.

How the list is built

  • Steam and Xbox: 34 achievements. Steam's own page lists "Total achievements: 34", and Console Pulse confirms Xbox uses the same 34. PowerPyx's challenge guide puts the Xbox total at 1,000 Gamerscore.
  • PS5: 35 trophies. The same 34 plus the Pywel Legend platinum. PowerPyx's roadmap and Console Pulse's platinum guide agree grade for grade: 1 Platinum, 4 Gold, 10 Silver, 20 Bronze.
  • No online requirement and no difficulty requirement. None of the 34 descriptions mentions difficulty, and both guides confirm Easy is fine. The Easy / Normal / Hard options arrived in patch 1.04.00 on April 23 under Settings > Play.
  • One playthrough is enough, but there is no quest replay. Both guides say free roam continues after the story and finished quests cannot be replayed. That second half is why missables exist at all.

PowerPyx puts the platinum at 200 to 300+ hours, and Console Pulse uses the same range.

Pearl Abyss noticed the completionists early. Its April 9 dev update, three weeks after launch, gave a shout-out to players earning their "Pywel Legend" trophies/achievements. Steam's list has no Pywel Legend entry, though; on PC the 34 are the whole list.

The rule that wastes hours: Sealed Abyss Artifacts

Mastery, Combat and Life Challenges stay locked until you pick up the object that unlocks them, and work you do before that usually does not count.

  • 141 Sealed Abyss Artifacts unlock 141 Challenges: 64 Mastery, 30 Combat and 47 Life, per Console Pulse's challenge directory. PowerPyx's family counts add up to the same three numbers.
  • Progress before the unlock is not reliably retroactive. PowerPyx says progress only counts after you find the matching artifact, except some cumulative requirements. Console Pulse's advice is to unlock the challenge, do one qualifying action, and check the counter moved.
  • Exploration and Minigame Challenges work differently. The 207 Exploration challenges come from the activities themselves: ruins, sanctums, spires, constellations and the rest. The 15 Minigame challenges appear when you first interact with each minigame.
  • Finding the artifacts. Per PowerPyx, they sit along roads, are not marked on the map, and show as purple icons on the minimap when you are close. The sword's Guiding Light ability (L1+R1, LB+RB, or Ctrl + left click) makes a nearby one glimmer blue.
  • Tracking them. Progress lives under Journal > Challenges. Patch 1.04.00 made the Challenges UI show how many challenges are available, and 1.01.00 on March 28 made the Notifications menu show challenge progress.
  • Claiming the reward. Once a challenge is done, you use its Sealed Abyss Artifact from your inventory, standing still with weapons sheathed. Per the Fextralife wiki, it turns into an Abyss Artifact or a Faded Abyss Artifact.

PowerPyx budgets 25+ hours for the setup it recommends before trophy progress really starts: ringing the bells to clear the map fog, opening fast travel, upgrading gear and sweeping the artifacts. That is a big up-front cost. The alternative is redoing combat feats you already did once.

Requirements are Steam's own descriptions, shortened. The challenge counts are the launch-set counts from PowerPyx and Console Pulse, which agree with each other. PS5 grades come from the same two guides. Steam percentages were read from Steam's global achievement page on October 2, 2026 and are a share of all Steam players.

Add up the families and the launch set is 363 challenges: 207 Exploration, 64 Mastery, 30 Combat, 47 Life and 15 Minigame.

Three umbrellas, and the families with no achievement of their own

Three achievements are umbrellas over whole categories of challenge families:

  • Expert Explorer needs all nine Exploration families: the eight in the table plus 22 Legendary Animals.
  • Unvanquished Strategist needs all ten Mastery families, including Special Equipment and Horse.
  • True Gamer needs all five Minigame families: 2 Shooting, 4 Test of Strength, 5 Duel, 1 Racing and 3 Mind Games. Mind Games includes the Duo challenge covered in our Duo and Five-Card guide.

Legendary Animals and the five minigame sub-families have no achievement of their own. You only get paid for them through the umbrella.

The umbrellas also double the damage when something goes wrong. Lose one of the special weapons below and you block Grand Collector of Arms and the Gold above it.

What the rarity numbers say

The story drop-off is steep. 76.9% clear Chapter 1, 58.3% activate the camp, 28.5% clear Chapter 7, and 10.3% finish every main quest.

Challenge families thin out fast. Only three challenge achievements sit above 3%: Lightbringer at 9.6%, Conqueror of Spires at 5.6% and Beast Slayer at 4.6%. Conqueror of the Abysses, the one tied to the hidden ending, is at 2.5%, about a quarter of the story-completion rate.

The rarest achievement is the collecting one, not a combat one. Natural Collector (0.4%) is rarer than Expert Explorer (0.6%), even though Expert Explorer needs 207 challenges and Natural Collector needs 12. Steam does not say why, but look at what those 12 ask for. Per PowerPyx's Life challenge list, they include:

Life challengeWhat it asks for
Tiny Citizens of GrasslandsKnowledge of all 76 insects and arthropods
Cave Exploration Log100 caves' knowledge (PowerPyx counts 133 caves)
The Underwater Ecosystem25 freshwater, 15 saltwater, 5 legendary and 11 underwater wildlife entries
PetsTame 30 unique pets
Acquire Timber5 each of normal, fine and flawless timber. Flawless needs a Chainsaw from Chapter 12 research, or, per PowerPyx, some post-story vendors sell it

Most of those are long collection tasks, and PowerPyx flags the insect and cave challenges as cumulative ones to work on throughout the game rather than at the end. The pets one has its own walkthrough in our pets guide.

Proud Returnee sits at 3.8%, a little over a third of the story-completion rate, even though it is not a challenge achievement. There is a section on it below.

These are Steam-only numbers. PlayStation and Xbox rates are not on Steam's page, and I have not used third-party estimates for them.

The missables, rechecked against the patch notes

PowerPyx's roadmap, last updated July 27 for patch 1.15, flags five trophies as missable: Shadowlord, Battlefield Conqueror, Grand Collector of Arms, Unvanquished Strategist and Brilliant Tactician. Behind them are four missable challenges and one it calls semi-missable. Console Pulse's guide, baselined to version 2.01, flags the same five among its at-risk items. Here they are, checked against what Pearl Abyss has patched since:

ChallengeAchievement(s) at riskThe riskStatus after the patches
Back Alley CleanupShadowlordHand over three criminals. If you had already turned in every outlaw before unlocking it, there was nobody left to hand overFixed in 1.16.00 (August 1). No longer a missable
DisruptionBrilliant TacticianDefeat 10 One-Eyed Jackals while wearing the Black Bear's Leather Helm, which the Pailune tailor sells from Chapter 8. Per PowerPyx, the Jackals stop appearing once Pailune's camps and faction quests are clearedStill a risk. No patch note removes it
Into the BarrageBattlefield ConquerorDefeat five enemies at once with a cannon. PowerPyx says the best chance is Chapter 8's Rebel Suppression at Thornbriar Fortress, with Fort Windridge in Delesyia as the fallbackSemi-missable. No patch note removes it
Marni Laser HelmGrand Collector of Arms, Unvanquished StrategistHit 5 enemies with the helm's laser. PowerPyx says there is one helm per playthrough and the Kuku version does not countStill a risk
Vessel of Dark PursuitGrand Collector of Arms, Unvanquished StrategistDefeat 100 enemies with this sword. One per playthrough, from Antumbra's Sword at the Sanctum of AbsolutionPossibly recoverable since 1.11.00. Unconfirmed, see below

Two quick notes on Disruption. Patch 1.08.00 on May 22 renamed "One-Eyed Jackals" to "Lonely Jackals", so the enemies you are looking for may carry the newer name. And whether Re-blockade can bring them back is covered in our Re-blockade guide. The short version: don't count on it.

Kliff, his sword raised overhead, braces against Master Du, a hooded figure in a pointed cowl pushing a wooden staff at him, in a dim stone chamber lit by a hanging lamp in Crimson Desert

Back Alley Cleanup is off the list

This is the one the trophy guides have not caught up with. Back Alley Cleanup sits in the Above the Law family, which PowerPyx files under Master Du's Dare, and both PowerPyx and Console Pulse still treat it as missable. Pearl Abyss's 1.16.00 notes, posted August 1, contain this line:

"Fixed an issue where the challenge "Back Alley Cleanup" could not be completed if all outlaws had already been turned in."

Read that and the missable was really a bug. On 1.16.00 or later, turning in every outlaw early should not lock you out of Shadowlord. PowerPyx's roadmap was last updated on July 27, five days before the fix, and Console Pulse's guide, baselined to 2.01 in September, still lists the bounties as at risk.

The two weapons you only get once

Patch 1.11.00 on June 12 added something PowerPyx's roadmap leaves out: "Rare equipment obtained from treasure chests, quests, and other methods can now be purchased from shops if lost." The same notes say lost items turn up in shops within 7 days, at a higher price than their original value. Console Pulse's challenge directory does point to it as a recovery route for a lost unique weapon.

On paper, that could rescue a Vessel of Dark Pursuit you sold or donated by mistake, since it is a quest reward. In practice, Pearl Abyss does not define "lost". PowerPyx's roadmap, updated more than six weeks after 1.11.00, still says there is no known way to get another Vessel. I could not find anyone confirming that the sword comes back through a shop. Treat 1.11.00 as a possible safety net, not a plan, and keep the sword until its 100 kills are done.

The Marni Laser Helm has a second way to go wrong. PowerPyx warns against selling or discarding it, as with the Vessel, and also against turning it into its Kuku version, which does not count for the challenge. Even if the 1.11.00 resale applies to a lost helm, it would not undo a conversion.

Challenge bugs Pearl Abyss has already fixed

If a challenge counter refused to move for you months ago and you gave up, check whether it was a bug. These are the patch-note fixes from 1.08.00 onward that mention a challenge, plus three location fixes that touch a challenge family. Many more Abyss, sanctum and spire fixes run through the notes, so this is not every bug that ever blocked a challenge. Where a family is given, it comes from the Fextralife wiki's page for that challenge.

2.03.02Sept 23Progression in the "Ether Rest" Abyss was blocked because the power core was not detectedConqueror of the Abysses

Two of those are worth extra weight. 1.13.01 is the one to remember if a finished challenge never paid out. Console Pulse's advice is to update, reload, and check your inventory for an unclaimed artifact before redoing anything. And the 2.03.02 Ether Rest fix is recent: before September 23, that Abyss could be a hard stop on the road to Conqueror of the Abysses.

Pearl Abyss's live Known Issues notice, last updated September 21, lists no challenge problem. One open entry does matter for this list, though, and it comes up again in the Proud Returnee section.

What does not count

  • The pet challenges from 1.11.00. That patch "added new challenges that allow you to register more pets," raising the cap to 100. Console Pulse files them under a separate Continued Journey > Pets tab and says to treat them as separate from the trophy route. Steam's list still has 34 achievements, the same count PowerPyx documented at launch, and none of them names Continued Journey or pet capacity.
  • Difficulty. Easy is fine for every achievement, as above.
  • The DLC, as far as anyone has said. Charting the Unknown is due October 29, 2026 at 22:00 UTC, per Pearl Abyss's September 30 date notice. Neither that notice, the pre-order notice nor the official DLC page mentions achievements or trophies. The DLC's Steam store page does list "Steam Achievements" among its features, alongside Steam Cloud, but no new achievement has been named or counted anywhere. PowerPyx's roadmap says the platinum needs no DLC. Whether the expansion adds its own list is unannounced.

Proud Returnee: the milestone you have to build

Four of the five non-challenge achievements just happen as you play the story. Proud Returnee does not. Steam's description is "Complete the camp relocation to Pailune", and at 3.8% it is rarer than finishing the story.

PowerPyx documents the route:

  1. Finish Chapter 7, through the main quest Time to Face Justice. That opens the Reconstructing Pailune faction questline.
  2. From the old camp at Howling Hill, talk to Ross the Dispatch Manager and send comrades on six reconstruction expeditions targeting Pailune.
  3. Finish the main story and every Scattered Embers Greymane faction quest.

The expeditions are the expensive part. PowerPyx's totals across all six:

Camp resourceTotal needed
Armor24.9K
Stone23.5K
Wood30K
Food47.3K
Money517K

PowerPyx's breakdown puts 20K of that armor on a single project, the Pailune Barracks, and the largest money cost, 170K, on the Trading Post. Feeding those numbers is a job for the dispatch loop in our camp guide and the recruits from our comrades guide.

Pearl Abyss's own notes confirm the move is a real, supported system. Patch 1.04.00 made furniture in your house move with the camp when you relocate to Pailune, and 1.03.00 on April 11 improved the Pailune camp, expanding its farm and ranch.

Then there is the open bug. The Known Issues notice still lists "Greymane faction quests cannot be progressed while playing as Damiane or Oongka." Proud Returnee needs the Scattered Embers line finished. Lord of Honor's Challenges and Changes family includes recruiting 20 Greymanes and finishing the Howling Hill camp's second expansion, both of which PowerPyx ties to Greymane faction quests. Do that questline as Kliff. Our known issues guide tracks whether the bug has been fixed.

Torstein, a bearded man with white face paint, a green cloak and a brown tunic, stands beside a large painted map of a walled coastal town mounted on a wooden board, red timber walls behind him, in Crimson Desert

A route that protects the list

PowerPyx and Console Pulse both lay out full roadmaps. This is the short version, adjusted for what the patch notes have changed:

  1. Ring the bells and open fast travel early. Our knowledge and research guide covers the eight bells.
  2. Sweep the Sealed Abyss Artifacts region by region, and test each new counter with one action before you rely on it.
  3. Do Disruption before you clear Pailune's camps and faction quests. Buy the Black Bear's Leather Helm as soon as the tailor offers it in Chapter 8.
  4. Save before the cannons in Rebel Suppression and take your shot at Into the Barrage there.
  5. Never sell, donate or convert a special weapon until its challenge is finished. That goes double for the Marni Laser Helm and the Vessel of Dark Pursuit.
  6. Stop rationing bounties. On 1.16.00 or later, Back Alley Cleanup no longer depends on outlaws being left.
  7. Run Greymane faction quests as Kliff until the known issue is fixed.
  8. Pick up every unfamiliar insect, fish and plant as you go. PowerPyx's rule of thumb: anything marked "???" is new, so grab it. Natural Collector is the rarest achievement on Steam.

What I could not verify

  • Whether 1.11.00's lost-equipment resale covers a sold or donated special weapon. Pearl Abyss does not define "lost", and no guide I found has tested it with the Vessel of Dark Pursuit.
  • Whether 1.13.00's crafting recipe for Lightning Bolt Plate Armor satisfies the special-equipment challenge. PowerPyx describes that challenge as obtaining Titan's armor, the Lightning Bolt Plate Armor, from a Pailune faction questline. 1.13.00 added a crafting recipe for the armor, and I found no source saying whether a crafted copy counts.
  • How many challenges sit under Continued Journey. Console Pulse names the tab. I could not open a source that lists them with confidence.
  • Whether any patch changed the launch challenge counts. The 363 total is the launch set PowerPyx and Console Pulse document; Console Pulse says it checked through version 2.01.
  • Which family Artisan's Touch belongs to. The 1.12.00 fix names it, and neither wiki I checked has a page for it.
  • Console unlock rates. The percentages here are Steam's alone.
  • Whether Charting the Unknown adds achievements. Its Steam store page carries the Steam Achievements feature tag, but Pearl Abyss has not announced, named or counted any.

Quick Action Checklist

  • The list is 34 achievements on Steam and Xbox (1,000 Gamerscore) and 35 trophies on PS5, counting the Pywel Legend platinum.
  • Five come from the story and camp. The other 29 each need a full Challenge family, 363 challenges in the launch set.
  • Pick up Sealed Abyss Artifacts before you do the things they track. Progress is not reliably retroactive.
  • Check progress under Journal > Challenges, and claim rewards by using the completed artifact while standing still with weapons sheathed.
  • Treat Disruption, Into the Barrage, the Marni Laser Helm and the Vessel of Dark Pursuit as missable.
  • Back Alley Cleanup is not missable on 1.16.00 or later. Pearl Abyss fixed it on August 1.
  • If a challenge never paid out or a counter stuck, update first. Patches 1.08.00 through 2.03.02 fixed at least a dozen challenge-related bugs.
  • Proud Returnee needs six reconstruction expeditions to Pailune plus the story and the Scattered Embers questline. Run those faction quests as Kliff.
  • The 1.11.00 pet challenges under Continued Journey are not tied to any achievement on Steam's list.
  • Difficulty does not matter. Easy counts.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many achievements does Crimson Desert have?
Crimson Desert has 34 achievements on Steam and Xbox, worth 1,000 Gamerscore on Xbox, and 35 trophies on PS5: the same 34 plus the Pywel Legend platinum. The PS5 split is 1 Platinum, 4 Gold, 10 Silver and 20 Bronze. Five come from story and camp milestones, and the other 29 each require completing an entire family of Challenges, 363 challenges in the launch set.
What is the rarest achievement in Crimson Desert?
On Steam, the rarest Crimson Desert achievement is Natural Collector, for completing all 12 Life challenges, at 0.4% of players as of October 2, 2026. That is rarer than Expert Explorer (0.6%), which needs 207 exploration challenges. The Life challenges include collecting all 76 insects and arthropods, visiting 100 caves, logging 56 fish and underwater wildlife entries and taming 30 unique pets.
Which Crimson Desert achievements are missable?
Four Crimson Desert challenges remain risky: Disruption (10 Jackals while wearing the Black Bear's Leather Helm, before Pailune's camps are cleared) for Brilliant Tactician, Into the Barrage (defeat 5 enemies at once with a cannon) for Battlefield Conqueror, and the one-per-playthrough Marni Laser Helm and Vessel of Dark Pursuit for Grand Collector of Arms and Unvanquished Strategist. Back Alley Cleanup, still listed as missable for Shadowlord by the PowerPyx and Console Pulse trophy guides, was fixed in patch 1.16.00 on August 1, 2026.
Is Back Alley Cleanup still missable in Crimson Desert?
No, not on patch 1.16.00 or later. Pearl Abyss's 1.16.00 notes, posted August 1, 2026, fixed an issue where the Crimson Desert challenge Back Alley Cleanup could not be completed if all outlaws had already been turned in. PowerPyx's trophy roadmap, last updated July 27, and Console Pulse's platinum guide, baselined to version 2.01, still list it as missable for the Shadowlord achievement.
Do Crimson Desert challenges count before you find the Sealed Abyss Artifact?
Usually not. In Crimson Desert, 141 Sealed Abyss Artifacts unlock the 141 Mastery, Combat and Life challenges, and trophy guides from PowerPyx and Console Pulse report that progress made before a challenge is unlocked generally does not count, apart from some cumulative requirements. Exploration challenges come from the activities themselves and Minigame challenges appear on first interaction, so they do not need an artifact.
How do you get Proud Returnee in Crimson Desert?
Proud Returnee requires relocating the Greymane camp to Pailune. Per PowerPyx, finishing Chapter 7 opens the Reconstructing Pailune questline, and you then send comrades on six reconstruction expeditions to Pailune from Ross the Dispatch Manager at Howling Hill, costing roughly 24.9K armor, 23.5K stone, 30K wood, 47.3K food and 517K money in total, as well as finishing the main story and all Scattered Embers Greymane faction quests.
Do the new pet challenges count toward Crimson Desert achievements?
No achievement on Steam's list is tied to them. Patch 1.11.00 on June 12, 2026 added Crimson Desert challenges that raise the pet registration cap to 100, and Console Pulse files them under a separate Continued Journey tab. Steam still lists 34 achievements, the same count as at launch, and none of them mentions Continued Journey or pet capacity.
