Cyberpunk TCG Edgerunner Open Side Events and Prizes

WeirdCo's 19 October side event preview lists 12 event types for the Chicago and Warsaw Edgerunner Opens. One of them is a second route to a Black Sapphire invite, four Friday play-ins fill 64 Chicago Main Event seats, and every event pays Prize Wall Eddies even when you lose. Here is what each one pays, which rules it runs under, and when the tickets go on sale.

Official WeirdCo header art for its Edgerunner Open side event preview: Goro Takemura, with dark hair tied back and a short beard, sits in a black kimono and hakama with both hands resting on a sheathed katana laid across his lap. In front of him is a low wooden table edged in red light, holding a black lidded pot, a small cup, a glass of water, two lit incense sticks and a tablet. Behind him a floor-to-ceiling window looks out on neon Night City skyscrapers, one showing a giant pink holographic face.

Edgerunner Open Chicago has a 2,048-player Main Event, and 64 of those seats were never put on sale. They go to the players who finish undefeated in four Friday play-in tournaments. That play-in is one of 12 side event types WeirdCo set out on 19 October 2026.

The dev blog post, "Edgerunner Open Regional Side Event Preview and Schedules", gives each event's format, round count, player cap and prizes, plus start times for both announced Regionals: Chicago, Friday 11 to Sunday 13 December 2026, and Warsaw, Saturday 30 to Sunday 31 January 2027. Side event tickets go on sale through Melee on 11 November for Chicago and 18 November for Warsaw. Only players who already hold a badge for that Regional can buy them. This post sorts the slate by what each event pays, works out the Prize Wall Eddies for each record, and checks each format against the Tournament Rules. Main Event tickets and the Main Event prize ladder are in the tickets and prizing breakdown.

WeirdCo files the first five under "Competitive Side Events" and the other seven under "Casual Side Events". It also warns that "not all event types listed here will appear at all events". Chicago's timetable has all 11 scheduled types. Warsaw's leaves out two: the Second Chance Relic, which WeirdCo schedules on the Friday of three-day Regionals, and 3v3 Chooms: Team Sealed. On-Demand Pods are not on either timetable.

Goro Takemura Open: the other Black Sapphire route

Official WeirdCo render of the serialized Goro Takemura Open playmat on a dark panel beneath a yellow EDGERUNNER OPEN REGIONAL logo. The mat carries the same painting of Goro Takemura, seated in a black kimono with a katana across his lap in front of a neon skyline, inside yellow stitched edges. The Cyberpunk TCG logo sits at the top left, and at the top right an EDGERUNNER OPEN REGIONAL mark sits above a serial box reading 00/00.

WeirdCo calls the Goro Takemura Open a premier side event. Of the 12 types, it is the one that awards a Black Sapphire Invitational invite. It is five rounds of constructed best-of-3, capped at 256 players. The prize goes to the "Top 8 players (all 5-0 players after 5 rounds of Swiss)": the invite, an EOR-stamped Dexter DeShawn: Off The Grid promo and a serialized Goro Takemura playmat.

The 8 comes from the cap. Halve 256 five times and you get 8, so a full Goro Takemura Open with no drawn matches produces eight 5-0 records. A smaller field, or a draw at the top tables, can leave fewer. WeirdCo has not said whether 4-1 players fill the gap when that happens.

Chicago's timetable has four Goro Takemura Opens, two on Friday and two on Sunday. Warsaw's has three, all on Sunday. At eight invites each, that is up to 32 extra Black Sapphire invites at Chicago and up to 24 at Warsaw, on top of the 64 the Main Event gives out. WeirdCo's own line is that "players will have multiple chances to earn their invite to the next tier of competition across an EOR weekend."

A 5-0 here earns the two headline prizes of a Main Event top-64 finish. The Main Event's top-64 tier is a Black Sapphire invite, a stamped Dexter DeShawn: Off The Grid promo and a Braindance Promo Pack, and because Main Event prizing is additive, a top-64 player also collects every lower tier, including the 2,000 Eddies for reaching day two. The Goro Takemura Open has no Braindance pack and adds the serialized playmat instead. The EOR page describes the premier side events as "an additional chance to win EOR top 64 Dexter DeShawn: Off The Grid promos".

Official Cyberpunk TCG card render for Dexter DeShawn: Off the Grid, Edgerunner Open S 1 printing EOR01-WNC 012, art by TopDog Entertainment. A red-framed full-art Legend: a heavyset man with long braids, red-tinted glasses, a gold chain and a red vest carries an oversized weapon over his shoulder. A null cost with a eurodollar sell tag at the top left, LEGEND and RAM x2 at the top right, the FIXER tag, a CALL to choose between giving a friendly Unit +2 power this turn or drawing 1, a Spend ability to increase a Gig by up to 2, and power 0.

That is one of the Dexter DeShawn: Off the Grid printings in the database's Edgerunner Open S 1 set. On 23 October the set held five of them: four by TopDog Entertainment (012, 016, 020 and 024) and one by Pandart Studio (030). WeirdCo has not said which one is the stamped prize copy.

The timetable shows who each run is for. At Chicago the Main Event starts on Saturday, so Friday's Goro Takemura Opens, at 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM, are open to any badge holder, Main Event players included. Sunday's start at 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM, during Main Event day two. They suit players who missed the day-two cut of 18 match points on Saturday. Warsaw's three, at 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM on Sunday, fall on its Main Event day two too.

Expect full tournament rules. Section 1.2.3 of the Tournament Rules says premier side events "follow competition-level event rules enforcement and policy". At competition level that means decklists submitted through Melee, possible deck and dice checks (1.2.2), sleeves (2.1.5) and 50-minute best-of-3 Swiss rounds (3.2.1). The constructed deck rules also require a 7-card sideboard (Appendix D.1). Five 50-minute rounds is 250 minutes of round clock before pairings and breaks.

Second Chance Relic: 64 Main Event seats on Friday

Second Chance Relics run "on the Friday of 3-day EOR events". Of the two announced Regionals, only Chicago is three days. Each one is three rounds of constructed best-of-3 with a 128-player cap, and every 3-0 player gets Main Event entry.

The numbers match Chicago's ticket page. WeirdCo held back 64 Main Event seats for "Friday play-in side event tournaments" and schedules four Second Chance Relics, at 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM. Halve 128 three times and you get 16, and four events of 16 is 64. The 19 October post gives the same figure: four events, "each awarding Main Event entry to 16 undefeated players." The EOR page still calls this a "Last Chance play-in".

The ticket rule matters here. Side event tickets are "only purchasable by players who already hold a Main Event, Streetkid, or City Cruiser ticket to the associated EOR." So a player without a Main Event ticket has to buy a Streetkid (attendee) or City Cruiser (spectator) badge before they can buy a Second Chance Relic entry. The EOR page says the Streetkid price "varies between 2 and 3-day events" and does not print it.

Win-a-Box, Win-a-Mat and Flatlined Revival

Official WeirdCo render of the Edgerunner Open Regional "Fool on the Hill" playmat on a dark panel beneath a yellow EDGERUNNER OPEN REGIONAL logo. A figure with curly hair, in a jacket with a glowing cyan stripe, stands at a low wall marked with graffiti reading HARVEST LIKE A REAPER. Beside the figure is a battered sports car with a tall rear wing and YAIBA decals, facing a sun setting between Night City towers in an orange and red haze. The Cyberpunk TCG logo sits at the top left and a green Welcome to Night City palm-tree logo at the top right, inside yellow stitched edges.

The other three competitive events pay out in product and Eddies rather than invites. All three are three rounds of constructed best-of-3.

The caps set a ceiling on winners. A full 256-player Win-a-Mat with no draws produces 32 3-0 records, and a full 512-player Flatlined Revival 64. The Win-a-Box has no cap, so it has no ceiling on boxes. Warsaw gets one Win-a-Box across its whole weekend.

WeirdCo pitches Flatlined Revival at players whose "Main Event doesn't go exactly as planned". It pays 400 Eddies for taking part, double the other events, plus a foil Muamar Reyes: El Capitán promo that WeirdCo labels the Main Event promo. The Major Leagues badge already includes that foil Muamar. The Streetkid badge does not, and Flatlined Revival is the one side event of the 12 that lists it, so it is the side-event route to that promo for a Streetkid holder.

What each record pays in Prize Wall Eddies

Every side event pays Prize Wall Eddies, and in most of them a loss pays too.

Here is what that adds up to, assuming you play every round and draw none. WeirdCo's tables do not say what a draw or a bye pays.

2-19001,100
1-2700900
0-3500700

A Goro Takemura Open pays 1,700 for 5-0 and 700 for 0-5. A five-round Afterlife Mixer pays 700 whatever your record, because a win and a loss are both worth 100. A pod pays at most 500.

The EOR page's Prize Wall puts those numbers in context:

Prize Wall itemEddies

EOR Legend Art Playmat1,000
EOR Alt-Art Legend Promo1,000
Organized Play Dice500
Braindance Promo Pack400
Welcome to Night City Booster Pack100

Three things follow:

  • One side event can buy a playmat even if you lose every round. The Major Leagues and Streetkid badges each come with 600 Eddies. Add 500 for going 0-3 in a standard three-round event and you have 1,100, enough for a 1,000-Eddie EOR Legend Art Playmat. The City Cruiser spectator badge comes with no Eddies.
  • The Mixer pays the same as losing. Five rounds of the Afterlife Mixer pay 700, the same as 0-5 in a Goro Takemura Open or 1-2 in a standard three-round event. Five 30-minute best-of-1 rounds is about the same round clock as three 50-minute best-of-3 rounds, 150 minutes either way.
  • Losses pay at side events, not in the Main Event. The Main Event's prize table pays 200 Eddies per round win, with no line for a loss, and 2,000 for reaching day two.

Sealed side events and the rules they use

Four of the side events are sealed, and the pods can be.

The Tournament Rules define two sealed formats. "Sealed Kit" rules (Appendix D.2.1) build from a kit: six booster packs, three extra random Legends, a Nova Rare promo and dice. "6-Pack" rules (D.2.2) are written for "Sealed events at the LGS-level or side events" that hand out six booster packs with no extra Legends or promo (dice may or may not be provided). Under 6-Pack rules you choose up to three Legends from what you open. For each Legend you are missing, you "add the top card of their deck face down as a blank Eddie" before drawing your opening hand. Both formats ignore RAM, allow up to three colours, set a 30-card minimum main deck and allow any number of copies of a non-Legend card.

WeirdCo's post does not say which ruleset each event uses, so the matching below is my reading:

  • Afterlife Mixer: Sealed and Chroming Up Sealed list "six packs for deck construction" and no Legend pack. That is the 6-Pack setup, so a pool with no Legends starts with blank Eddies instead.
  • Chroming Up Sealed hands out another pack after rounds 1 and 2, "to add to your deck and make it even stronger." The Tournament Rules have no clause for a deck that grows mid-event, so ask the head judge how the new cards go in.
  • Night City Beta: Afterimage uses Welcome to Night City Beta Kits, so it is a kit event. WeirdCo's Beta Event guide lists each kit as six Beta booster packs, three extra random Legends, a Beta Kit Mantis Blades promo and a full dice set. WeirdCo's Kickstarter FAQ says the Kickstarter Beta product contains "art variants of cards that are exclusive to the Kickstarter Beta product", and the rarities breakdown covers where those Iconic variants sit. Afterimage runs once at each Regional: Friday 4:30 PM in Chicago and Sunday 1:30 PM in Warsaw.
  • 3v3 Chooms: Team Sealed gives each team 18 packs for deck building. WeirdCo does not say whether those are split six per player or pooled.

The sealed deck rules post covers how to build a 30-card sealed deck.

Casual events still need a sideboard

Section 1.2.3 of the Tournament Rules splits side events in two. Premier side events use competition-level enforcement. "The majority of side events" use the lighter enforcement of store events. WeirdCo's post calls the Goro Takemura Open premier and does not say whether the other four competitive events are.

Lighter enforcement does not mean lighter deck rules. Appendix D.1 says every constructed deck has "a sideboard of exactly 7 cards" and "must be sleeved with opaque standard-sized card sleeves", even though section 2.1.5 says sleeves are not required at side events. The one constructed format with no sideboard is "Quick" best-of-1, and Appendix C.2.2 offers it only to stores running Pre-release or Night City Brawl events. The "Competitive" best-of-1 rules written for premier side events (C.2.1) do use the sideboard, in a three-minute pre-game window after both players reveal their Legends. WeirdCo has not said which best-of-1 rules the Afterlife Mixers and Chooms events use. If you bring seven sleeved sideboard cards to every constructed side event, the question never comes up. A single starter deck has no spare cards for a sideboard, and the Tournament Rules breakdown covers sideboarding in full.

Two formats work differently:

  • 3v3 Chooms. Teams of three play three one-on-one games at once, and the team that wins at least two of the three takes the round. Before each round, every player's Legends are revealed and the team captains choose which decks face each other. Eddies are paid per player on that player's own game, so a 3-0 player on a losing team still collects 300 a win. The Tournament Rules have no section on team events, so nothing published says whether teammates may share cards.
  • On-Demand Pods. Pods are eight players, three rounds, best-of-1. Section 3.2.2 of the Tournament Rules names on-demand side events as one place single-elimination rounds are used, and eight players is exactly a three-round bracket.

The Chicago and Warsaw timetables

WeirdCo lists clock times with no time zone. Chicago's timetable has 32 scheduled side events across three days. Warsaw's has 17 across two, and its Saturday matches Chicago's Saturday slot for slot.

What WeirdCo has not said

As of 23 October 2026:

  • Side event prices. No entry fee is published for any of the 12.
  • Second Chance Relic limits. Whether one player can enter more than one, what happens to a seat when fewer than 16 players go 3-0, and whether a play-in seat comes with the Major Leagues badge extras (the Misty promo, the foil Muamar promo, a Braindance Promo Pack, 600 Eddies and the Buy-A-Box voucher).
  • Goro Takemura Open edge cases. What happens if fewer than eight players finish 5-0, and whether a player who already holds a Black Sapphire invite can win another.
  • Draws and byes. What they pay in Eddies.
  • Which rules the casual events use. Which best-of-1 rules apply to the Mixers and Chooms, which sealed rules apply to each sealed event, whether Team Sealed packs are pooled, and whether Chooms teammates may share cards.
  • The time zone of the timetable.
  • Which Dexter DeShawn: Off The Grid printing is the stamped prize.

Quick reference

  • 12 side event types. Five competitive: Goro Takemura Open, Second Chance Relic, Nova Win-a-Box, Sunset Win-a-Mat and Flatlined Revival. Seven casual: two Afterlife Mixers, Chroming Up Sealed, Night City Beta: Afterimage, two 3v3 Chooms events and On-Demand Pods.
  • Black Sapphire invite: a 5-0 in a Goro Takemura Open (256 cap, five rounds, best-of-3). That is up to 32 more invites at Chicago and up to 24 at Warsaw, on top of the Main Event's 64.
  • Main Event entry: a 3-0 in one of Chicago's four Friday Second Chance Relics, 16 each, 64 in total. Warsaw has none.
  • Eddies: 200 for taking part (400 in Flatlined Revival), then 300 a win and 100 a loss in most events. A standard three-round event pays 500 to 1,100, and a badge's 600 plus a 0-3 buys a 1,000-Eddie playmat.
  • Rules: the Goro Takemura Open runs under competition-level rules, with decklists, deck checks and sleeves. Bring a sleeved 7-card sideboard to every constructed side event.
  • Tickets: Chicago on 11 November at 7 PM EST, Warsaw on 18 November at noon EST, through Melee, for badge holders only. No prices are published yet.

Frequently Asked Questions

What side events are at the Cyberpunk TCG Edgerunner Open Regionals?
WeirdCo's 19 October 2026 side event preview lists 12 side event types for Edgerunner Open Chicago (11 to 13 December 2026) and Warsaw (30 to 31 January 2027). Five are competitive: the Goro Takemura Open (Black Sapphire Invitational invites), the Second Chance Relic (Main Event entry), Nova Win-a-Box (a booster display), Sunset Win-a-Mat (a playmat) and Flatlined Revival (Prize Wall Eddies). Seven are casual: Afterlife Mixer Constructed and Sealed, Chroming Up Sealed, Night City Beta: Afterimage, 3v3 Chooms Team Constructed and Team Sealed, and On-Demand Pods. Chicago's timetable lists 32 scheduled side events and Warsaw's lists 17.
What is the Cyberpunk TCG Goro Takemura Open?
The Goro Takemura Open is a premier side event at Cyberpunk TCG Edgerunner Open Regionals: five rounds of constructed best-of-3, capped at 256 players. Every player who finishes 5-0 receives a Black Sapphire Invitational invite, an EOR-stamped Dexter DeShawn: Off The Grid promo and a serialized Goro Takemura playmat. A full 256-player event with no draws produces eight 5-0 records. Chicago runs four Goro Takemura Opens (two on Friday, two on Sunday) and Warsaw runs three (all on Sunday), which is up to 32 and 24 extra invites on top of the Main Event top 64.
Can I still play in the Edgerunner Open Chicago Main Event without a ticket?
Yes, through a Second Chance Relic. WeirdCo reserved 64 of the 2,048 Chicago Main Event seats for four Friday Second Chance Relic events, each three rounds of constructed best-of-3 capped at 128 players, with Main Event entry for every 3-0 player (16 per event). Side event tickets can only be bought by players who already hold a Main Event, Streetkid or City Cruiser ticket, so a player without a Main Event ticket needs a Streetkid or City Cruiser badge first. Chicago side event tickets go on sale on Melee on 11 November 2026 at 7 PM EST. Warsaw, a two-day event, has no Second Chance Relic.
When do Edgerunner Open side event tickets go on sale?
Cyberpunk TCG Edgerunner Open side event tickets go on sale through Melee on 11 November 2026 at 7 PM EST for EOR Chicago, and on 18 November 2026 at noon EST (6 PM in Warsaw) for EOR Warsaw. They are sold through each event's Melee hub, and only to players who already hold a Main Event, Streetkid or City Cruiser ticket for that Regional, with linked Melee and cyberpunktcg.com accounts. WeirdCo has not published side event prices.
How many Prize Wall Eddies do Edgerunner Open side events pay?
Most Cyberpunk TCG Edgerunner Open side events pay 200 Prize Wall Eddies for taking part, 300 per round win and 100 per round loss, so a standard three-round event pays 1,100 for 3-0 and 500 for 0-3. Flatlined Revival pays 400 for taking part plus a foil Muamar Reyes: El Capitán promo, and an extra 700 for 3-0, so 2,000 in total. A five-round Goro Takemura Open pays 700 to 1,700. Afterlife Mixers pay 100 per round win or loss, so 700 for five rounds whatever your record. On the Prize Wall, an EOR Legend Art Playmat costs 1,000 Eddies and a booster pack 100.
Do I need a sideboard for Edgerunner Open side events?
For constructed side events, bring one. Appendix D.1 of the Cyberpunk TCG Tournament Rules requires every constructed deck to have a sideboard of exactly 7 cards and opaque sleeves. The no-sideboard "Quick" best-of-1 format (Appendix C.2.2) is only offered to stores for Pre-release and Night City Brawl events. The Goro Takemura Open is a premier side event under competition-level rules, with decklists submitted through Melee and possible deck checks. WeirdCo has not said which best-of-1 rules the casual Afterlife Mixer and 3v3 Chooms events use.
