CRK Stat Caps Explained — Every Ceiling and the Buffs You Are Wasting
Cookie Run: Kingdom quietly enforces a ceiling on almost every defensive stat, and most teams smash through at least one of them without noticing. Here is every documented cap, the exact topping and treasure math that gets you there, and the one cap where overshooting still pays.

You have almost certainly built a team that throws away a buff. Not a bad buff — a good one, on the right cookie, that simply does nothing because the stat it feeds was already sitting on a ceiling. Cookie Run: Kingdom does not tell you when this happens. There is no red "MAX" tag on the stat sheet, no shake animation, no warning. The number just quietly stops moving while the buff icon keeps spinning above your tank's head.
The caps are real, they are documented, and most of them are low enough that a mid-game roster bumps into them by accident. Once you know where the ceilings sit, a whole category of team-building decisions gets easier: you stop doubling up on the same defensive support, you stop rerolling toppings for a stat that is already maxed, and you start recognising which enemy cookies exist specifically to punch through the ceiling you just built.

Two things jump out. First, the defensive caps are far more aggressive than the offensive ones — you can stack a Weakness debuff to 500% and attack speed to a genuinely absurd 1000%, but your tank's damage reduction stops dead at 90%. Second, several of these ceilings are reachable with gear alone, which means you can waste stats before a single support cookie has used a skill.
The 90% DMG Resist ceiling
The single most important number in the game's defensive math: the maximum DMG Resist a Cookie can have after all calculations is 90%. Enemies in non-PvP content get 95%.
That sounds generous until you count sources. A five-piece Solid Almond set gives 1.7% per M topping plus an 8% Equip 5 bonus — call it 16.5% before bonus effects, and DMG Resist bonus effects roll in a wide 1% to 6% band, so a well-upgraded almond set can realistically land in the mid-20s on its own. Then the Dark Lord's Castle landmark adds 5-15% to every cookie in your kingdom. Then the support cookies start stacking:
- Awakened Dark Cacao Cookie: +25% to all allies, permanently, from his passive
- Elder Faerie Cookie: +22.5% to all allies for 12 seconds
- Caramel Choux Cookie: +15% to all allies for 12 seconds
- Cream Ferret Cookie: +10% to all allies for 14 seconds
- Burning Spice Cookie: +17.5% per Burn stack to Fire-type allies, already self-capped at 50%
Notice that last one. Burning Spice's Revelry of Flames has its own internal ceiling written into the skill, which is a tell that the developers know exactly how fast this stat compounds. Run Burning Spice and Awakened Dark Cacao together on a Fire team and your damage dealers are at 75% from two passives, before toppings, before landmarks, before anyone hits a skill button.
One honest caveat that matters: the wiki does not publish a confirmed stacking formula for DMG Resist. A multiplicative version sits in the article's source marked as needing verification by its own editors. So treat "how do these combine" as an open question and the 90% ceiling as the settled fact. If you see a guide confidently reciting a DMG Resist formula, it is going further than the source material does.
Why overcapping DMG Resist is not always waste
Here is the part that flips the usual advice. The wiki's DMG Resist Bypass page states that bypass "calculates the total amount of DMG Resist that a target has, including DMG Resist that would exceed the maximum DMG Resist cap."
Read that again, because it changes how you build for Arena. If bypass were applied to your capped 90%, then every point above 90 would be dead weight. Because it is applied to your raw total instead, the surplus acts as a buffer against bypass attackers. You are not building past the cap for the cap — you are building past the cap so that a 40% bypass lands on a bigger number and still leaves you near the ceiling.
And bypass is everywhere in the current meta:
- Hollyberry Cookie and her Awakened form: 50% bypass against stun-immune targets
- Black Pearl Cookie: 40%, rising to 45% at Crystal Jam +30, plus a rally that gives all allies 15-25%
- Burning Spice Cookie, Fire Spirit Cookie, Eternal Sugar Cookie, Moonlight Cookie: 40% each
- Awakened Golden Cheese Cookie: 40% on the single-target portion of Immortal's Retribution
- Marshmallow Bunny Cookie: a flat +15% bypass to every ally
That last one is the quiet menace. Marshmallow Bunny hands bypass to your whole team, which means the enemy tank's carefully assembled 90% wall is being read as something meaningfully lower by five cookies at once.
The same wiki page flags that the exact arithmetic of how bypass multiplies against resist is not confirmed. Under either reading, though, the practical conclusion holds: against bypass-heavy comps, extra DMG Resist keeps working after the visible number stops moving.
CRIT Resist caps at 75% and you will blow past it

CRIT Resist maxes at 75%, and unlike DMG Resist there is no documented mechanic that rewards going over. Every point above 75 is gone.
Now do the topping math, because this is the cap people break without realising. Hearty Hazelnut is the CRIT Resist topping: 2.1% per M piece, and a +30% Equip 5 set bonus — by a distance the largest set bonus of any topping type. CRIT Resist bonus effects also roll in a 3-4% band, the tightest and highest floor of any bonus effect in the game. A five-piece hazelnut set with a few CRIT Resist rolls comfortably clears 50% on its own.

Then add literally any of these:
- Hollyberry Cookie or Awakened Hollyberry Cookie: +35% to all allies
- Millennial Tree Cookie: +35% to all allies with four or more elements on the team
- Wildberry Cookie with Magic Candy +30: +35% to all allies
- Crimson Coral Cookie: +30% to all allies
- Financier Cookie: +20%, or +35% with her Magic Candy unlocked
- Cream Unicorn Cookie: +17.5% to all allies
A hazelnut-stacked tank next to Hollyberry is at roughly 85-90% raw and playing at 75. Adding Cream Unicorn on top of that does exactly nothing for that cookie. This is the most common wasted-buff situation in the game, and it hides in plain sight because both cookies are individually excellent.
The fix is not to drop hazelnut. It is to pick one source and route the other elsewhere — if your tank runs a hazelnut set, your CRIT Resist support is redundant on that cookie and should be evaluated purely on what else it brings, which for Hollyberry is a 50% DMG Resist bypass and for Financier is Paladin Protector coverage.
The 60% cooldown cap and the Watch rule

Cooldown Reduction caps at 60%. This is the one cap where the arithmetic produces a genuinely actionable rule.
The Squishy Jelly Watch is a Common treasure that reduces all allied cooldowns by 10% at Level 1 and 25.0% at Level 12. The wiki's tips section notes that with a Level 12 Watch equipped, a cookie only needs -35% cooldown reduction of its own to hit the lowest possible cooldown in battle. That is not a coincidence — 25 plus 35 is 60, exactly the cap. The tip is the cap restated as a build target.
So the real question is whether -35% is reachable. Swift Chocolate gives -1.8% per M topping with a -5% Equip 5 bonus, so a full chocolate set is around -14%. Cooldown bonus effects roll in a stingy 1-2% band, the smallest range of any bonus effect, and M toppings only carry three bonuses each. Getting to -35% from gear alone means near-perfect cooldown rolls across five toppings — which, for most accounts, is not happening.
Which reframes the cap entirely. You will not hit 60% cooldown reduction through toppings; you hit it through cookies with large self-CDR passives. Jagae Cookie cuts his own cooldown by 40%. Choco Drizzle Cookie cuts hers by 50% on a defeat trigger, up to three times per battle. Millennial Tree Cookie and Awakened Pure Vanilla Cookie each cap out around 15-25% from HP and DMG Resist scaling. Stack a Level 12 Watch onto one of those and you are at or over the ceiling, and every chocolate topping you equip after that is a wasted slot.
Cooldown Recovery is a separate system added in the v6.4 patch, with its own caps: recovery can be sped up by 150% or slowed by 50%. It stacks with reduction rather than competing with it, which is why some Arena comps now run both.
For reference, base cooldowns run from 6 to 19 seconds depending on the cookie, with initial cooldowns of 2 to 6 seconds at the start of a fight. Carol Cookie is the odd one out with an alternate 4-second cooldown that activates when two or fewer allies are left alive.
ATK SPD: 1000% up, 70% down
Attack speed is the most permissive cap in the game. ATK SPD-increasing buffs are capped at 1000%, raised from 500% in the v6.4 patch. Reduction bottoms out at 70% — nothing can slow a cookie below 30% of its normal attack rate.
Practically, you will never see the 1000% ceiling outside of extreme buff-stacking setups, which is exactly why the developers raised it. The number worth remembering is the 70% floor: ATK SPD debuffs have a hard limit, so slow-lock strategies cannot fully disable an enemy carry. Bouncy Caramel toppings give 1.7% per M piece with a 10% Equip 5 bonus, so gear contributes a rounding error against these numbers.
The matching offensive figure: DMG-increasing debuffs — the Weakness family — are capped at 500%. That is the ceiling on amplification, and it is generous enough that ordinary teams never approach it.
The 300K damage ceiling
Two damage types in Cookie Run: Kingdom scale off the target's maximum HP, and both are capped at 300,000 damage per instance. They are routinely confused, and the difference decides entire matchups.
Relative Damage deals damage based on the victim's Max HP. It can be reduced by DEF and DMG Resist, and it can critically hit. Caramel Arrow Cookie and Mercurial Knight Cookie are the recognisable examples.
True Damage deals fixed damage based on the victim's Max HP and cannot be reduced by anything — no DEF, no DMG Resist, no CRIT Resist — and it cannot crit. Sorbet Shark Cookie is the poster child. The lone exception the wiki records is Corruption, a True Damage source that can produce critical damage.
The strategic read: True Damage is the direct counter to everything else in this article. A tank sitting on a perfect 90% DMG Resist wall takes full True Damage. That is the deliberate release valve on the defensive cap system.
There is a counter to the counter, and it is unusually clean. Damage negation is not damage reduction, so it applies even to True Damage. Elder Faerie Cookie's Prism Shard negates all damage exceeding 10% of Max HP on herself, White Lily Cookie, and the highest-ATK ally for 12 seconds. On the enemy side, Abalone Cookie's Aquamech negates all incoming damage except CRIT DMG — a boss that inverts your entire build priority and rewards crit stacking over raw damage.
The 75% club
Three status-effect systems share a 75% ceiling and are easy to over-invest in:
- Debuff Resist — reduces the duration and potency of applied debuffs. Capped at 75%.
- Amplify Buff — increases the effects and duration of applied buffs, including healing received. Capped at +75%.
- Dampen Buff (Buffs Down in-game) — the enemy-side mirror, capped at -75%.
Topping bonus effects can roll both Amplify Buff and Debuff Resist, but only in a 1-2% band, so gear is a minor contributor here. These caps matter for skill stacking rather than gear planning: two cookies both dumping large Debuff Resist onto the same target is the same waste pattern as doubling CRIT Resist.
What has no published ceiling

DEF is the interesting omission. The wiki describes it as reducing incoming damage by a flat amount rather than a percentage, and its page lists no cap at all. That is a meaningful asymmetry: percentage defenses are ceilinged, flat defense is not. It is also why DEF-scaling attackers exist at all: Kouign-Amann Cookie at Magic Candy +30 deals additional damage derived from her own DEF, on a stat with no published ceiling to run into.
ATK has a floor rather than a ceiling — ATK cannot be reduced below 85% of its base value, so ATK-down debuffs are worth at most a 15% shave.
Crimson Coral Cookie is worth studying as the cap-aware design case. When she is the only Front cookie on the team, she grants herself 30% DMG Resist and allies 25%, gives all allies 30% CRIT Resist, halves DEF-reduction effects on the team, and — the clever bit — increases the effectiveness of DMG-down buffs she receives by 30%. She is built to multiply other people's defensive buffs, which only makes sense in a system where flat stacking runs out of room.
How the caps got here
The ceilings are not original design. They are retrofits, and the patch history says so plainly.
Patch 6.3, The Flame Awakens (April 9, 2025) was the reset. It raised the maximum DMG Resist for Cookies from 85% to 90%, introduced a 500% cap on ATK SPD-increasing buffs, and capped DMG-increasing debuffs at 500%. Before that patch, the DMG Resist ceiling had sat at 85% since Patch 1.3, Lost Kingdom, in April 2021.
Patch 6.4, Garden of Sweet Delights (May 7, 2025) immediately doubled the ATK SPD buff cap from 500% to 1000% and introduced Cooldown Recovery manipulation with its own 150%/50% limits.
Read together, that is a developer discovering that buff stacking had outrun the math, slapping a ceiling on it, then walking the offensive ceiling back up within a month while leaving the defensive one alone. Which is a reasonable summary of where the game sits now: offense scales, defense does not.
Team rules that fall out of this
One CRIT Resist source per cookie. If your tank runs a Hearty Hazelnut set, it does not need Hollyberry's 35% as well. Bring Hollyberry for the bypass instead.
Check your passive stack before your active stack. Awakened Dark Cacao's 25% and Burning Spice's up-to-50% are always on. They eat the ceiling before your burst supports get a turn.
In Arena, deliberately overshoot DMG Resist. Bypass reads your uncapped total, so the surplus is insurance rather than waste — the opposite of the CRIT Resist rule.
Do not build a cooldown set on a cookie with a big CDR passive. Jagae at 40% plus a Level 12 Watch at 25% is already at the 60% cap with zero chocolate equipped.
Expect True Damage to ignore everything you just built and keep a healer with real throughput, or a negation effect, for those fights.
Quick Action Checklist
- Open your main tank and total its CRIT Resist from toppings alone. If it clears 45%, drop the second CRIT Resist support from that team.
- Level a Squishy Jelly Watch toward 12 (-25% cooldown) before you invest a single chocolate topping in cooldown reduction.
- Audit any Fire team running both Burning Spice and Awakened Dark Cacao — the 50% and 25% passives are doing most of your DMG Resist work already.
- For Arena defense, keep stacking DMG Resist past the visible 90% specifically because bypass is calculated on your uncapped total.
- Identify which of your damage dealers deal True Damage and save them for enemies sitting on maxed resistances.
- Stop rerolling toppings for Amplify Buff or Debuff Resist as a primary goal — the 1-2% bonus effect band means gear will never move those caps.
- Re-read your topping sets with the ceilings in hand; the best set is the one that stops just short of a wall.
