CRK Topping Tarts Guide — Crafting Odds and Legendary Tarts
An Epic Searing Raspberry Tart rolls 7.2% to 12.0% ATK the day it is crafted, against the 9% main stat of a Searing Raspberry Topping pushed to +12. Here is every Tart's roll range, what the Mine Workshop really charges for the roll you want, and how the Legendary tier added on July 29 upgrades.

A Searing Raspberry Topping pushed to +12 gives a Cookie 9% ATK from its main stat, after twelve successful upgrades' worth of Topping Pieces and Coins. An Epic Searing Raspberry Tart gives 7.2% to 12.0% ATK the moment it leaves the Mine Workshop, and there is nothing to upgrade. The Tart gets its own slot beside a Cookie's five Toppings and counts as a sixth piece of their set, which is why each Topping type's set bonus has an Equip 6 row. Since July 29 it also has a Legendary tier with an upgrade track of its own.
This is the whole system: what each rarity rolls, what the Mine Workshop actually charges for the roll you want, where the sixth piece counts toward a set, and how Legendary Tarts, Butter Cream and Tart Cores work. Rates come from Devsisters' own update notices and its published Topping Tarts rate table. Where a number exists only on a wiki or a third-party walkthrough, the sentence says so.
What a Topping Tart is
Topping Tarts arrived in v6.3, The Flame Awakens, on April 9, 2025 — the same update that opened Into the Depths, the mines they are crafted in. The rules, per the Cookie Run: Kingdom wiki's Topping Tarts page:
- One per Cookie. A Cookie equips a single Tart alongside its five Toppings.
- Ten types, one per Topping type, each with that Topping's main stat: Searing Raspberry is ATK, Swift Chocolate is Cooldown, and so on.
- XS (Common), S (Rare) and M (Epic), plus a Legendary tier added in v7.7.
- Main stat only, rolled once. An XS, S or M Tart has no upgrade levels, no bonus effects and nothing to reroll. The roll you craft is the roll you keep.
- It counts toward its type's Topping set. That is where Equip 6 comes from: five Topping slots plus one Tart.
They come from crafting in the Mine Workshop, from limited-time events, and from Choice Chests.
All ten Tart types and their rolls

Ranges are from the wiki's Topping Tarts page and match Devsisters' own value-chance tables line for line. The last column is the set bonus with five matching pieces and then with six.
| Tart | Main stat | XS | S | M | Equip 5 → Equip 6 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Searing Raspberry | ATK | 3.6% | 4.8–6.0% | 7.2–12.0% | +10% → +12% |
| Hard Walnut | DEF | 6.0% | 8.0–10.0% | 12.0–20.0% | +20% → +25% |
| Healthy Peanut | HP | 3.9% | 5.2–6.5% | 7.8–13.0% | +12% → +15% |
| Bouncy Caramel | ATK SPD | 2.7% | 3.6–4.5% | 5.4–9.0% | +10% → +12% |
| Juicy Apple Jelly | CRIT% | 3.3% | 4.4–5.5% | 6.6–11.0% | +8% → +10% |
| Swift Chocolate | Cooldown | -1.5% | -2.0 to -2.5% | -3.0 to -5.0% | -5% → -6% |
| Solid Almond | DMG Resist | 3.0% | 4.0–5.0% | 6.0–10.0% | +8% → +10% |
| Hearty Hazelnut | CRIT Resist | 4.5% | 6.0–7.5% | 9.0–15.0% | +30% → +35% |
| Sweet Candy | Amplify Buff | 3.0% | 4.0–5.0% | 6.0–10.0% | +11% → +12% |
| Fresh Kiwi | Debuff Resist | 3.0% | 4.0–5.0% | 6.0–10.0% | +12% → +13% |
Three things fall straight out of that table.
The scale is identical across all ten types. An S Tart rolls between 1.33x and 1.67x the XS value, and an M Tart rolls between 2x and 3.33x. That puts the best possible S below the worst possible M in all ten rows, so an S Tart is a placeholder, not a keeper.
Inside a range, every value is equally likely. Devsisters' table gives each 0.1% step in an M range the same chance, so the average roll is the midpoint. An M Searing Raspberry averages 9.6% ATK, and 11.0% or better is 11 of its 49 possible values: a 22.4% chance.
The spread inside M is bigger than the gap below it. On Searing Raspberry, the best M roll is 4.8 points above the worst one, while the worst M sits only 1.2 points above the best S. Which M you craft matters more than whether you craft an M at all.
A Tart against a maxed Topping
The fair comparison is main stat to main stat. A Topping's main stat climbs with every upgrade level — 0.5 points a level on Searing Raspberry, Hard Walnut, Healthy Peanut and Juicy Apple Jelly and 0.2 or 0.1 on the other six, per cookierun.wiki's Toppings page — so the number printed beside an M Topping on the Fandom wiki is its +0 value, not its ceiling.
| Type | M Topping at +0 | M Topping at +12 | M Tart |
|---|---|---|---|
| Searing Raspberry (ATK) | 3.0% | 9.0% | 7.2–12.0% |
| Hard Walnut (DEF) | 3.0% | 9.0% | 12.0–20.0% |
| Healthy Peanut (HP) | 3.0% | 9.0% | 7.8–13.0% |
| Bouncy Caramel (ATK SPD) | 1.7% | 4.1% | 5.4–9.0% |
| Juicy Apple Jelly (CRIT%) | 3.0% | 9.0% | 6.6–11.0% |
| Swift Chocolate (Cooldown) | -1.8% | -3.0% | -3.0 to -5.0% |
| Solid Almond (DMG Resist) | 1.7% | 4.1% | 6.0–10.0% |
| Hearty Hazelnut (CRIT Resist) | 2.1% | 4.5% | 9.0–15.0% |
| Sweet Candy (Amplify Buff) | 1.8% | 3.0% | 6.0–10.0% |
| Fresh Kiwi (Debuff Resist) | 1.8% | 3.0% | 6.0–10.0% |
The best M Tart roll beats a +12 Topping's main stat in all ten types. The worst M roll still matches or beats it in seven; Searing Raspberry, Healthy Peanut and Juicy Apple Jelly are the three where a bottom roll comes in under a maxed Topping. On the average roll, nine of ten Tarts win, and Juicy Apple Jelly (8.8% average against 9.0%) is the one that doesn't.
The caveat is the one that matters for DPS builds: an M Topping at +12 also carries three bonus effects, and a Tart carries none. On the defensive types the Tart still wins outright on main stat: even a bottom-roll Hearty Hazelnut Tart (9.0%) is twice a maxed Hazelnut Topping (4.5%), and a bottom-roll Hard Walnut Tart (12.0%) beats a maxed Walnut Topping (9.0%) by a third.
Source caution: crkguide.com's Searing Raspberry per-level table climbs 5 points a level, to 63% at +12. That is ten times the 0.5-point step cookierun.wiki gives, and the same site's own Juicy Apple Jelly table — same +0 value of 3% — climbs from 3% to 9%. Use 9%.
Where the sixth piece counts

Topping set bonuses step up at 2, 3, 5 and 6 pieces of one type, and both wikis count a Tart as a piece of its type. That gives the Tart three different jobs depending on what is already equipped.
On a five-piece set, a matching Tart pays twice. You get the Tart's own roll plus the Equip 5 → Equip 6 step. Five Searing Raspberry plus an M Raspberry Tart is +9.2% to +14.0% ATK from the Tart slot: 7.2–12.0% from the Tart and +2% from the set moving from +10% to +12%. The step is worth 1 point on Swift Chocolate, Sweet Candy and Fresh Kiwi, and 5 points on Hard Walnut and Hearty Hazelnut.
An off-type Tart keeps Equip 5 and adds a second stat. An M Juicy Apple Jelly Tart on a five-Raspberry Cookie is +6.6% to +11.0% CRIT% instead of that +9.2% to +14.0% ATK, and the Raspberry set stays at +10%. Which is worth more depends on the Cookie's kit, not on the Tart.
On a hybrid, count thresholds. Because the steps are at 2, 3, 5 and 6, a Tart that moves a type from 1 piece to 2, from 2 to 3, or from 4 to 5 buys a set step; a Tart that moves a type from 3 to 4 buys nothing but its own roll. Take the 3 Solid Almond + 2 Swift Chocolate frontline from our CRK toppings guide:
| Sixth piece | Set change | What the slot adds |
|---|---|---|
| Solid Almond Tart (M) | Almond 3 → 4 pieces: stays at Equip 3 (+7%) | 6.0–10.0% DMG Resist |
| Swift Chocolate Tart (M) | Chocolate 2 → 3 pieces: Equip 2 (-2%) → Equip 3 (-4%) | -5.0% to -7.0% Cooldown |
Since September 23, a Tart can also sit inside a Topping Set, which bundles five Toppings and a Tart into one item; equipping or removing one costs Coins. Our v7.9 update guide covers the rules.
Does a Tart count toward Topping passives?
Three Cookies covered on this site have passives that convert a Topping stat into Cooldown, and each skill box words the source as Toppings. None of those skill boxes, and none of the Devsisters notices quoted here, says whether a Tart — or the Equip set bonus — counts. Here is what the answer is worth, using five M Toppings at +12 of the stat each passive reads — Juicy Apple Jelly for Time Shadow, Searing Raspberry for the other two:
| Cookie | Passive, per the wiki's skill box | Needed for the cap | Five Toppings, main stat only | Plus the Equip 5 bonus | Plus a matching M Tart (Equip 6) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Time Shadow | Cooldown -1.0% per 2.0% CRIT% gained from Toppings, capped at -35% | 70% CRIT% | 45% | 53% | 61.6–66.0% |
| Nether Queen | Cooldown -0.5% per 1.0% ATK increased by Toppings, capped at -25% (listed on her one-Healing-Cookie line) | 50% ATK | 45% | 55% | 64.2–69.0% |
| Ananas Dragon | Cooldown -3.0% per 6.0% ATK gained from Toppings, capped at -30% | 60% ATK | 45% | 55% | 64.2–69.0% |
None of those columns include bonus effects, which add 1–3% per ATK or CRIT% line. Read Ananas Dragon's row this way: five maxed Toppings alone leave her 15 points short of her cap. If the set bonus and the Tart both count, a matching M Tart carries her past it with no bonus-line luck at all; if neither counts, those 15 points have to come from ATK bonus lines at 1–3% each, and since Devsisters' Topping bonus-effect page says each of a Topping's bonus effects is a different one, five Toppings hold at most five ATK lines — so it takes a top 3% ATK roll on every one of them. Our Time Shadow Cookie build works through the same question for his 70% line. Until Devsisters says, don't build a breakpoint that only works if the Tart counts.
Crafting: what the Mine Workshop charges

The Mine Workshop has three recipes. Ingredients are from the wiki's Topping Tarts page; the Common and Rare odds are the post-July 29 figures from Devsisters' notice and rate table; the Epic recipe's guarantee is from cookierun.wiki's Mine Workshop table.
| Recipe | Ingredients | Epic | Rare | Common |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Common | 50 Flour Stone | 1% | 3% | 96% |
| Rare | 100 Flour Stone, 10 Sugar Ore | 10% | 90% | — |
| Epic | 200 Flour Stone, 20 Sugar Ore, 1 Butter Amber | 100% | — | — |
The July 29 update raised the Epic chance on the Common recipe from 0.3% to 1% and on the Rare recipe from 3% to 10%. The recipe sets the rarity odds, not the type: Devsisters' table gives each of the ten types a flat 10% chance on every craft.
What the Tart you actually want costs
- The right type at any roll: 1 in 10 per Epic craft, so about 10 Epic crafts on average — 10 Butter Amber, 2,000 Flour Stone and 200 Sugar Ore.
- An M Searing Raspberry at 11.0% ATK or better: 10% for the type times 22.4% for the roll, or 2.24% per Epic craft. That is about 45 Epic crafts on average: 45 Butter Amber, 9,000 Flour Stone and 900 Sugar Ore.
- An Epic from the cheaper recipes: about 100 Common crafts (5,000 Flour Stone) or 10 Rare crafts (1,000 Flour Stone and 100 Sugar Ore) per Epic, before the type roll even starts.
That is why the realistic target is a good roll, not a perfect one — and why a high M roll is worth protecting once you have it.
Butter Amber, Tart Essence and the Mine Shop

Flour Stone, Sugar Ore and Butter Amber come from Mine Ventures, Ore Vein Mining and the Mine Shop, and the wiki's Currencies page names Butter Amber the rarest of the three. Two smaller taps: an Amber Fossil taken to the Appraiser has a 5% chance of a Butter Amber, per both wikis' Into the Depths pages, and the August 26 update added a Tart Ore Vein Mine Card with a 140 Sugar Ore completion reward.
Breaking down a Tart returns Tart Essence, the Mine Shop's currency. cookierun.wiki lists the shop's Tart material stock as follows, resetting every 7 days — note its table does not yet show the Tart Cores x100 item Devsisters added on July 29:
| Item | Price | Weekly stock |
|---|---|---|
| Butter Amber x1 | 200 Tart Essence | 20 |
| Sugar Ore x10 | 40 Tart Essence | 50 |
| Flour Stone x100 | 20 Tart Essence | 100 |
Price one Epic Tart in Tart Essence at those rates and the Butter Amber recipe is the cheap one:
| Route to one Epic Tart | Materials, on average | Tart Essence equivalent |
|---|---|---|
| Epic recipe | 200 Flour Stone, 20 Sugar Ore, 1 Butter Amber | 320 |
| Rare recipe | 1,000 Flour Stone, 100 Sugar Ore | 600 |
| Common recipe | 5,000 Flour Stone | 1,000 |
The Rare and Common routes also leave a pile of lower-rarity Tarts behind, and breaking those down claws some Tart Essence back. None of the sources cited here gives how much a breakdown returns, so read those two rows as upper bounds. The shop caps Butter Amber at 20 a week; past that, it has to come from Mine Ventures, Ore Vein Mining or Amber Fossils.
Legendary Topping Tarts
Legendary Topping Tarts arrived in v7.7, Tartrus of Oblivion, on July 29, 2026. Per cookierun.wiki, apart from the extra effect a Legendary Tart has the same values as an Epic one. What it adds is a bonus effect, and an upgrade track for that effect.
Getting one: drops and promotion
Devsisters' notice names two routes:
- Trials of the Nether Realm. The notice's own line is "Obtain Legendary Topping Tarts from the Trials of the Nether Realm." That is the seasonal endless-exploration mode from the same update, where a run allows only one high-rarity Cookie; our Nether Queen Cookie build covers the roster rule.
- Promotion. An Epic Tart promoted with Butter Cream becomes Legendary. Promotion keeps the Tart's type and stats and adds a Legendary bonus effect. Butter Cream comes from Trials of the Nether Realm, the same notice's Bag of Legendary Topping Tarts mission event included some, and cookierun.wiki adds certain time-limited events. Devsisters doesn't state the cost; esports.gg's walkthrough, built from in-game screenshots, puts it at 600 Butter Cream.
The line that matters is "keeps the stats." An XS, S or M Tart's main stat can't be rerolled, Devsisters describes no way to reroll a Legendary's either, and promotion carries the Epic roll over unchanged. Promote your best M roll of the type you need, not the first M you happen to hold.
The 11 bonus effects
A Legendary Tart carries one bonus effect, drawn from 11 at an equal 9.09% each, per Devsisters' rate table. Names below are Devsisters'; the starting values at +0 are cookierun.wiki's.
| Bonus effect | Starting value |
|---|---|
| Increased DMG Dealt to Cookies | 1% |
| Increased DMG Dealt to All Enemies | 1% |
| Fireworks Every 10 Sec & Increased ATK | 1% |
| Increased Team DMG at Start of Battle (Non-Stackable) | 1% |
| Increased DMG Resist | 2% |
| HP Recovery Every 7 Sec | 2% |
| Increased CRIT DMG | 3% |
| Increased Healing Given & Received | 3% |
| HP Shield at Start of Battle | 5% |
| DMG Resist +5% & Reduced Size | 10% |
| Max HP +5% & Increased Size | 20% |
Two notes. cookierun.wiki labels the 2% line DMG Dampening, where Devsisters' table says DMG Resist. And the wiki's upgrade-value tables are only partly filled and don't say which effect each belongs to; the two complete ones show a 1% effect climbing to 5% and to 7% at +12. That is five to seven times the starting value for a 1% effect, but the partial tables for the bigger effects climb more slowly — the one that starts at 20% reads 38.7% at +8 — so treat the exact +12 figure for any single effect as unconfirmed.
The team-damage line is the one Devsisters marks Non-Stackable, so don't plan on copies across several Cookies adding up.
Changing the bonus effect
Tart Cores change the effect. Devsisters' rate page spells out the draw:
- A change offers one random effect other than the one the Tart has, and you choose to take it or keep the current one. For any one target effect, that is 1 in 10.
- A follow-up reroll also excludes the effect you were just offered, so each later attempt is 1 in 9.
That works out to about nine attempts on average to land one specific effect, a 44% chance within five attempts and 69% within ten. The August 26 update added a confirmation pop-up on Change and Keep, which Devsisters says is there to help prevent accidental effect changes.
The rule that shapes the order you do things in: changing the effect does not change the Upgrade Lv. — the new effect's value is adjusted to the Tart's current level. Upgrading first and hunting the effect later costs you no levels.
Upgrading, failing and resetting
- A Legendary Tart gets 12 upgrade attempts, paid in Tart Cores. Succeed on all 12 and it reaches +12.
- Every attempt spends one opportunity whether it succeeds or fails, and a failure also lowers the maximum level that run can reach. In practice, the level you end on is the number of attempts that succeeded.
- A Tart with failed upgrades can be reset: level and used attempts go back to 0, and later attempts get a bonus success rate that grows with each reset. Each Tart keeps its own reset count, and at certain counts the upgrade cost goes up. esports.gg's walkthrough puts a reset at 300 Tart Cores and the bonus at +5 percentage points per reset; Devsisters' notice gives neither number.
- Since August 26, each Legendary Tart saves the maximum Upgrade Lv. it has reached. A reset doesn't affect that maximum, and it only updates if a later run climbs past it. The same notice's bug-fix list says each Tart's highest achieved Upgrade Lv. will be restored.
Read together with the reset rules, that means a poor run after a reset doesn't take away the level a good run already reached. What a reset still costs is Tart Cores, plus a higher upgrade price once the reset count crosses a threshold.
Where Tart Cores come from
Tart Cores pay for changing the effect, upgrading and resetting. The sources Devsisters' notices name so far:
- Breaking down a Legendary Topping Tart (July 29 notice)
- Trials of the Nether Realm rewards (July 29 notice)
- A Tart Cores x100 item in the Mine Shop (July 29 notice)
- The Bag of Legendary Topping Tarts mission event, whose bag also held Butter Cream and an Epic Topping Tart Choice Chest (July 29 notice)
- The Kingdom Pass Daily Rewards, which added Tart Cores on September 23
The Mine Shop line sets up a real trade-off. Devsisters' notice doesn't give the item's price, but esports.gg's walkthrough describes buying Tart Cores there with Tart Essence — the same currency that buys Butter Amber. If so, every Tart you break down funds either your next Epic craft or your next Legendary upgrade, not both.
Which Tart to build first
The numbers above point to a short order of operations:
- First M Tart goes on your main carry, matching its set. A matching Tart on a five-piece set pays its own roll plus the Equip 6 step, and it never needs a Topping Piece.
- Weigh the defensive Tarts by the numbers, not the name. Hard Walnut and Hearty Hazelnut Tarts carry the biggest ranges and the biggest Equip 6 steps (+5). If a tank is chasing the CRIT Resist cap covered in our stat caps guide, an M Hazelnut Tart on a five-Hazelnut set is 14 to 20 points of it from one slot: 9.0–15.0% from the Tart plus the 5-point Equip 6 step.
- Treat S and XS Tarts as placeholders. No S roll reaches the worst M roll, and Devsisters' notice only describes promoting Epic Tarts. Break them down for Tart Essence once an M replaces them.
- Don't break down a high M roll. It is the base for a future Legendary, and promotion keeps the roll.
- Spend Butter Amber on the Epic recipe. At the Mine Shop's prices it costs 320 Tart Essence per Epic, against up to 600 and 1,000 for the other two recipes; breaking down their leftover Tarts narrows that gap by an amount none of these sources gives.
- On a Legendary, upgrade before you reroll. The level survives an effect change, and since August 26 your best level survives a reset.
Quick Action Checklist
- Check whether each carry's Tart matches its five-piece set; if not, you are leaving the Equip 6 step on the table.
- On hybrids, put the Tart where it crosses a threshold (1 → 2, 2 → 3 or 4 → 5 pieces), not where it just adds a fourth piece.
- Craft Epics with the Butter Amber recipe — 320 Tart Essence equivalent, against up to 600 and 1,000 for the Rare and Common routes.
- Budget about 10 Epic crafts per specific type, and about 45 for a top-end Searing Raspberry roll.
- Buy the Mine Shop's 20 weekly Butter Amber before the 7-day reset if Tarts are your project.
- Promote your highest M roll of the type you need — type and stats carry over to Legendary.
- Change a Legendary effect only with Tart Cores to spare: about nine attempts on average for one specific effect.
- Reset failed upgrade runs; since August 26 the Tart keeps its best level.
