The Last of Us Part 1 Skins: All 55 and What They Cost
Part I kept all 21 skins from the 2013 game, added 18 outfits and 16 weapon skins, and put the lot in one points shop. Here is the listed price of each skin, filter and modifier, what the Digital Deluxe Edition actually unlocks, and the two Steam-only shirts.

In 2013, Joel's grey shirt and Ellie's first Naughty Dog T-shirt were pre-order bonuses. In The Last of Us Part I they cost 10 points each, on the same shelf as everything else. The remake kept all 21 character skins from the original game, added 18 new outfits, brought in weapon skins (a first for the series, per The Last of Us Wiki), and moved the whole wardrobe into one points shop that opens after the credits.
This guide prices the 55 outfits, accessories and weapon skins in that shop, plus its 30 filters and 15 gameplay modifiers. It also covers what the Digital Deluxe Edition actually gets you, how Speedrun Mode unlocks, and the two shirts only the Steam version has. It covers Part I only: the 2022 PS5 remake and its 2023 PC port. Part II Remastered has a separate wardrobe with its own No Return challenge outfits, and those are in our Part II Remastered skins guide.
How the Part I shop works
The shop runs on points (shown as P), and you cannot spend any of them until you have finished the main story. TheLoadout's launch-week guide puts it plainly: you need to beat the game before you can start buying skins. Gamer Journalist's guide says the same, and it names three sources of points: finishing the story, finishing it on a higher difficulty, and collecting hidden items in the chapters. Neither source says how many points each one pays, so this guide does not guess.
The shop lives in the Extras menu. That is where the Steam store page tells PC players to find their bonus shirts, and it is where PowerPyx locates Speedrun Recap. The outfits are not limited to the main campaign: Naughty Dog's 2025 Photo Mode gallery of unlockable skins describes its picks as including outfits Ellie can wear in Part I and in Left Behind.
Here is everything this guide prices, at a glance:
| What | Items | Price each | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Joel outfits and backpacks | 11 | 5P or 10P | 100P |
| Joel weapon skins | 8 | 10P | 80P |
| Ellie outfits, backpacks and goggles | 28 | 5P to 15P | 340P |
| Ellie weapon skins | 8 | 10P | 80P |
| Filters | 30 | 5P | 150P |
| Gameplay modifiers | 15 | 0P to 20P | 210P |
| Total | 100 | 960P |
The totals are my sums of the published prices, not a figure Naughty Dog has stated. If you are short of points after the credits, the cleanup routes in our Part I collectibles guide are where to look, since collectibles are one of the three named sources.
Joel's 19 outfits and weapon skins

Part I prices come from TheLoadout's and Gamer Journalist's launch-week lists. The 2013 column is from The Last of Us Wiki's skin table for the original game and Remastered, where each skin had a condition to meet and, apart from the two pre-order shirts, a dollar price:
| Outfit | Part I cost | How it unlocked in 2013 and Remastered |
|---|---|---|
| Purple plaid shirt | 10P | Finish on Survivor or higher, then $1,000 |
| Red plaid shirt | 10P | Finish on Hard or higher, then $500 |
| Gold plaid shirt | 10P | Finish on Hard or higher, then $500 |
| Grey shirt | 10P | Pre-order bonus |
| Grey sweatshirt | 10P | Finish the game, then $250 |
| Brown shirt | 10P | Finish the game, then $250 |
| Short sleeve denim | 10P | Finish the game, then $250 |
| Long sleeve denim | 10P | Finish the game, then $500 |
| Winter gear | 10P | New in Part I |
| Military backpack | 5P | Finish on Hard or higher, then $1,000 |
| Camper backpack | 5P | Finish the game, then $500 |
Joel's eight weapon skins are all new to Part I. Naughty Dog's edition listing names four of them, and those four are the Digital Deluxe early unlocks pictured at the top of this page:
| Weapon skin | Weapon | Part I cost | Digital Deluxe early unlock |
|---|---|---|---|
| Black Gold | 9mm pistol | 10P | Yes |
| Silver Filigree | 9mm pistol | 10P | Yes |
| Two Tone | Pistol | 10P | No |
| Lone Star | Pistol | 10P | No |
| Rubber Tactical | Shotgun | 10P | Yes |
| Sculpted Oak | Shotgun | 10P | Yes |
| Digital Camo | Shotgun | 10P | No |
| Copperhead | Shotgun | 10P | No |
That is 180P for all 19. If you buy one Joel item, make it Winter Gear. It is the only outfit Part I added for him; the other ten are 2013 items you may already have worn.
Ellie's 36 outfits and weapon skins

Ellie gets most of the wardrobe. Her eleven returning items first:
| Item | Part I cost | How it unlocked in 2013 and Remastered |
|---|---|---|
| Naughty Dog T-shirt I | 10P | Pre-order bonus |
| Naughty Dog T-shirt II | 10P | Finish the game, then $250 |
| Naughty Dog T-shirt III | 10P | Finish the game, then $500 |
| Jak and Daxter T-shirt | 10P | Finish on Normal or higher, then $500 |
| Jak hoodie | 10P | Finish on Hard or higher, then $500 |
| Jumpsuit | 10P | Finish on Survivor or higher, then $1,000 |
| Red flannel | 10P | Finish the game, then $250 |
| Angel Knives | 10P | Finish on Hard, then $500 |
| Daxter backpack | 5P | Finish on Survivor or higher, then $1,000 |
| Punk backpack | 5P | Finish the game, then $500 |
| Jak goggles | 10P | Finish on Hard or higher, then $600 |
Then the seventeen outfits Part I added. Sixteen of them are shirts for other PlayStation games: the two Uncharted shirts at 10P and fourteen more at 15P.
| New outfit | Part I cost |
|---|---|
| Seattle wear | 10P |
| Uncharted 4: A Thief's End shirt | 10P |
| Uncharted: The Lost Legacy shirt | 10P |
| Astro Bot shirt | 15P |
| Days Gone shirt | 15P |
| Dreams shirt | 15P |
| Ghost of Tsushima shirt | 15P |
| God of War Ragnarök shirt | 15P |
| GT Classic shirt | 15P |
| Horizon Zero Dawn shirt | 15P |
| Ico shirt | 15P |
| Infamous shirt | 15P |
| Ratchet & Clank shirt | 15P |
| Resistance shirt | 15P |
| Returnal shirt | 15P |
| Shadow of the Colossus shirt | 15P |
| Sly Cooper shirt | 15P |
One date in that list is odd. Gamer Journalist's list went up on launch day, September 2, 2022, and it already has the God of War Ragnarök shirt. Ragnarök itself did not come out until November 9, 2022, so Ellie could wear the shirt about two months before the game it advertises was released.
Her eight weapon skins split evenly between her pistol and her bow:
| Weapon skin | Weapon | Part I cost | Digital Deluxe early unlock |
|---|---|---|---|
| Iron Ink | Ellie's pistol | 10P | No |
| Golden Moth | Ellie's pistol | 10P | No |
| Sepia | Ellie's pistol | 10P | No |
| Washington Liberation | Ellie's pistol | 10P | No |
| Sunrise | Ellie's bow | 10P | No |
| Carbon Black | Ellie's bow | 10P | Yes |
| Arctic White | Ellie's bow | 10P | Yes |
| Spalted Walnut | Ellie's bow | 10P | No |
That is 420P for all 36, and 210P of it is the fourteen 15P shirts. They are the priciest outfits in Part I at 15P each, so if you are budgeting, the eleven returning items and the 10P new outfits come first.
What the Digital Deluxe Edition actually buys
Naughty Dog's announcement priced Part I on PS5 at $69.99 for Standard and $79.99 for the Digital Deluxe Edition, and listed eight things the Deluxe version unlocks early. The word Naughty Dog uses for all eight is early unlock, and the Steam store page uses the same wording:
| Digital Deluxe item | What it is | How Standard gets it |
|---|---|---|
| Increased Crafting Speed | Joel skill | Bought with supplements |
| Increased Healing Speed | Joel skill | Bought with supplements |
| 9mm Reload Speed Increase | Workbench upgrade | Bought with parts |
| Rifle Clip Capacity Increase | Workbench upgrade | Bought with parts |
| Explosive Arrows | Gameplay modifier | Listed at 0P in the wiki's modifier table |
| Dither Punk | Filter | 5P |
| Speedrun Mode | Timed-run mode | Finishing the main story |
| Six weapon skins | Cosmetics | 10P each, 60P together |
The cosmetics on that list, six weapon skins and a filter, come to 65 points in the standard shop. The rest is a modifier the wiki lists at 0P, a mode the credits give you anyway, and two skills and two gun upgrades the standard edition buys with supplements and parts. Our crafting and upgrade guide and weapons guide cover those costs. Getting them early helps on a first run. They will not change which outfits you own by the end. The $10 is for convenience, and none of the eight items is exclusive.
The Firefly Edition, which Naughty Dog sold through PlayStation Direct in the US for $99.99, had the same early unlocks plus a SteelBook and four American Dreams comics. Pre-ordering any edition added bonus supplements and parts.
Filters and gameplay modifiers

Filters are what the original game called render modes. The wiki counts 30 in Part I at 5P each, which is 150P for the set. Twenty-nine are the same filters Part II added in its August 2020 update, and the thirtieth, Dither Punk, is the one Naughty Dog listed as a Digital Deluxe early unlock. The 2013 game had three render modes (Black and White, Dreampop and Old West) at $100 each.
Gameplay modifiers did not exist in the PS3 or PS4 versions. Part I has 15, and the wiki prices them like this:
| Group | Modifiers | Cost each |
|---|---|---|
| Mirror | Mirror World, Mirror on Death | 15P |
| Cheats | Slow Motion, Bullet Speed Mode, Infinite Ammo, Infinite Crafting, Infinite Melee Durability, Infinite Listen Mode Range, One Shot, Touch of Death | 20P |
| Cheats | Explosive Arrows | 0P |
| Audio | 8-bit Audio, 4-bit Audio, Helium Audio, Xenon Audio | 5P |
That is 210P for the fourteen that cost points. Fourteen of the fifteen have the same names and prices as Part II's modifiers, whose effects are listed one by one in the Part II Remastered skins guide. Explosive Arrows is the one Part I added: according to the wiki, your arrows explode on impact. If you want one victory-lap modifier, that is the one to pick, because Part II's modifier list does not have it.
Speedrun Mode unlocks with the credits
Standard-edition players unlock Speedrun Mode by finishing the main story on any difficulty. PowerPyx says Left Behind is not required, and that the Game Completed screen tells you New Game+ and Speedrun Mode are now available. You switch it on when starting a New Game, and the wiki adds that New Game+ works too.
Two rules, per the wiki and PowerPyx: you cannot change difficulty once a Speedrun run starts, and your chapter times are saved under Extras > Speedrun Recap. Gameplay modifiers are allowed, but per the wiki the timer and the recap mark any run that used one with a MOD symbol, so a One Shot run carries that mark. How Speedrun Mode stacks with Permadeath and the difficulty levels is in our Part I difficulty guide.
The Steam-only Left 4 Dead and Portal shirts
The Steam store page for Part I advertises a "Steam Exclusive Offer": two free T-shirts for Ellie, one for Left 4 Dead and one for Portal. They unlock as soon as you finish the main story and appear in the Extras menu. Neither shirt is on the PS5 launch lists. Because the store page calls them a Steam exclusive, expect them only in the Steam version.
That gives Ellie 38 outfits and weapon skins on Steam rather than 36, and the two extra shirts cost nothing. Naughty Dog's PC announcement names both Steam and the Epic Games Store as Part I's PC storefronts; for the hardware side of either version, see our PC requirements guide.
What changed from the 2013 wardrobe
| The Last of Us (2013) and Remastered | The Last of Us Part I | |
|---|---|---|
| Currency | In-game dollars earned from Tags | Points |
| Character skins | 21 (10 Joel, 11 Ellie) | 39 (11 Joel, 28 Ellie), plus 2 Steam-only shirts |
| Weapon skins | None | 16 |
| Filters | 3, at $100 each | 30, at 5P each |
| Gameplay modifiers | None | 15 |
| What gates a skin | A per-skin condition (pre-order, finish the game, finish on Normal, Hard or Survivor), then a dollar price for all but the two pre-order shirts | The post-credits shop; the launch price lists give no difficulty condition for any item |
Tags were the original game's objective list. Per the wiki, which cites the 2013 official strategy guide, they paid between $100 and $500 each: $250 for finding all the Firefly pendants, for example, and $500 for fully upgrading every weapon. That money then bought the outfits, several of which also needed a clear on Normal, Hard or Survivor first. The Jumpsuit, the Daxter backpack and the purple plaid shirt were $1,000 each, and you could not buy them at all until you had finished on Survivor.
Part I prices that Jumpsuit at 10P. That is a loss if you liked owning a Survivor clear you could wear, and a win for everyone else. To make an outfit mean something again, put it on for a Grounded run. For which release has what beyond the wardrobe, see the versions guide.
Where the lists disagree
None of the sources is complete, so here is where they differ:
- The wiki's prices for returning skins do not match the launch lists. The wiki's Part I column shows 2P for several returning outfits and for all of Ellie's pistol and bow skins, and leaves most of the other cells blank. TheLoadout and Gamer Journalist list those items at 10P, or 5P for backpacks. I have used the launch lists, because they price every item.
- The two launch lists are not independent. TheLoadout's and Gamer Journalist's lists match line for line, including the order and spellings, which points to one shared source rather than two separate checks.
- Some prices come from a single source. Filter and modifier prices, the 30-filter count and the 0P price for Explosive Arrows come only from the wiki. I could not confirm Explosive Arrows' standard-edition price anywhere else.
- Points earned are not in any source cited here. None of them gives a per-action rate, and every total on this page is my own sum.
If an item in your game is priced differently from this list, trust the game.
Quick Action Checklist
- Finish the main story first, because the points shop does not open until the credits roll.
- Earn points by finishing the story, finishing on higher difficulties and picking up collectibles.
- Budget 180P for all 19 Joel items and 420P for all 36 Ellie items, 600P for the full wardrobe.
- Buy Winter Gear first for Joel, since it is his one new outfit.
- Leave Ellie's fourteen 15P PlayStation shirts until last if points are tight.
- Skip the Digital Deluxe upgrade if cosmetics are the reason: its six weapon skins are 60P in the standard shop, and nothing on its list is exclusive.
- On Steam, check Extras after the credits for Ellie's free Left 4 Dead and Portal shirts.
- Unlock Speedrun Mode by finishing the main story (Left Behind is not needed), and leave modifiers off if you want a clean time.
- Try Explosive Arrows if you want a modifier that is not on Part II's list.
