Crimson Desert Updates and Roadmap: Every Patch and What Comes Next

Four months of patches turned Crimson Desert into a different game. Here is what actually shipped, version by version, and the only three things Pearl Abyss has actually committed to next.

The game you bought in March is not the game on your drive

If you bounced off Crimson Desert in April and have not launched it since, the version on your drive is four months and roughly a dozen patches behind. Between the March 19 launch and version 1.15.00 on July 24, Pearl Abyss shipped a house-decoration overhaul, opened endgame content to two characters who could not touch it before, added cross-save across four storefronts, and quietly fixed the thing where a stolen wagon vanished if you used Escape.

Most "what's new" posts about this game are recycled press releases. This one is a version-by-version read of the official notice board at crimsondesert.pearlabyss.com, plus what executives actually said at the July 7 shareholder briefing — kept separate from what they merely hinted at, because the internet keeps mashing those together.

Short version: the patches have been substantial, the roadmap through September is public and specific, and the three questions everyone asks — DLC, multiplayer, Switch 2 — have exactly one committed deadline between them.

The patch cadence, in numbers

Crimson Desert launched March 19, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and macOS, scored 77 on Metacritic for PC and 78 for PS5, and sold two million copies on day one. By the July 7 shareholder meeting Pearl Abyss was reporting six million units at full price in 83 days — the kind of number that buys a game a long post-launch tail.

The support has matched it. The notice board currently lists 1.15.00, 1.14.00, 1.13.01, 1.13.00, 1.12.02, 1.12.01 and 1.12.00 among recent entries, with 1.06.00 dating back to a May revision. That works out to a numbered feature patch every two to three weeks with hotfixes slotted between, each landing on Steam (PC and Mac), PlayStation, Xbox and the Epic Games Store simultaneously. The Mac App Store build trails — on 1.15.00 it was still listed as in-progress while everything else was live.

That is a real cadence, not a skeleton crew.

Update 1.01.00: the AI art apology and the storage box

The first big patch arrived within days of launch and did two jobs.

The first was cleanup on a genuine mess. Players found generative AI artwork in paintings and signs around Pywel. Pearl Abyss confirmed the assets were not meant to ship, apologised, and committed to a comprehensive audit. Patch 1.01.00's notes described the fix in the flattest possible language — replacing select 2D visual assets to better align with the game's art direction — and the AI paintings became human-made ones. Credit where due: they said they would fix it and fixed it in the very next patch, which is not the industry norm.

The second job was inventory. The same update added new item storage at the Howling Hill Camp, answering the loudest complaint of launch week and making the camp systems meaningfully less painful to use.

Update 1.12.00: they let you decorate outside the house

June 19, and the most content-dense patch of the run.

The headline is a new feature that lets you decorate the area outside your house, backed by 58 new house items covering facilities, lighting, decorations and pet furniture, plus two new crafting tools: a Workstation and a Loom. If you wrote off the housing layer as a token feature, this is the patch that argues otherwise.

Underneath the decorating sits a pile of things that touch combat:

  • Chain attacks while sliding across all weapon types — a genuine movement-tech change, not a tweak, and it touches every build in the weapons guide.
  • Damiane and Oongka can now equip Visiones, read memories, and mount Blackstar — the first serious step toward the two of them being full characters instead of guest slots.
  • Boss retry was overhauled to keep your knowledge, weapons, elements and quick-slot items. Anyone who has ground a wall in the bosses guide knows how much dead time that removes.
  • New gear: five headgear items and the Greymane Light Armor set for Kliff, Honorary Greymane Cloth Gloves for Damiane, a Greymane Signet accessory for everyone, a Box of Fortune shop item at 100 silver capped at three per restock, and 51 new Collectibles-Contract knowledge entries.

Also, the Pets - Tailor's Shop was renamed to Pet Shop. Four months of patch notes and somebody finally admitted the old name made no sense.

Update 1.13.00: Oongka and Damiane finally get the Abyss

July 3, and this is the patch that changed what a Crimson Desert save looks like for anyone who does not want to play Kliff forever.

Oongka and Damiane can now enter the Abyss. Memory Fragment locations for certain rematchable bosses were moved to accommodate it. If you have read the Abyss Cores guide, you know how much of the build ceiling lives behind that door — locking two of three characters out of it was the clearest signal they were not equals. Now they are in. The gear economy expanded to match: 39 new pieces for Kliff and Oongka including boss outfits and armour, 8 new armour pieces plus boss equipment sets for Damiane, and Kliff and Oongka sharing most outfits and Kuku-type equipment.

The rest is a grab bag with more depth than its bullet count suggests:

  • A Hunter's Sigil that lets bird pets retrieve specialised prey and materials — a passive resource line, which matters if you run the ingredient loop.
  • Summoned pets rest alongside you in a bed, and a Hide Minimap and Status option arrived in Settings for the screenshot crowd.
  • Four new carpet recipes and three new plate armour recipes in shops; many previously non-dyeable disguise outfits and weapons became dyeable; firefly colonies now yield up to three; Iron Eagle and Phoenix can equip the Sigil of Valor.
  • Special attacks for Flame Knight, Wyvernflames, Savage Fang and Goldenscale Bandits — enemy variety, not player power.
  • Axiom Force now activates immediately on soft lock-on targets, and muskets and pistols fire while sliding.

That Axiom Force change is the one to circle. Traversal and combat both hang off it, and instant activation removes a beat of input lag from a system the exploration guide treats as the map's skeleton key.

Update 1.14.00: cross-save actually shipped

July 16, 09:00 UTC. Cross-save went live, letting you continue your progress using a single save file across PlayStation, Xbox, Steam and the Epic Games Store.

This is the roadmap item people assumed would slip, because "cross-save is coming" is one of the most commonly missed promises in the business. Pearl Abyss announced it June 2 and shipped it six weeks later.

1.14.00 also carried a fix that says something about how they are treating the cast: Damiane's Skystep now uses identical controls to Oongka's Vertical Flight. Two abilities, one muscle memory — the "all three playable characters get a share of the spotlight" line turning into an actual input change. The rest was housekeeping: a blocked completion on the quest A Dwarf's Concern, Aerial Force Palm getting interrupted during free-fall, missing sound after the Praevus the Ancient battle, persistent audio from Ator's Orb, NPCs pathing through wooden gates, and mount animations at high speed.

How to turn cross-save on

The official Cross Save Guide went up the same day. The flow is:

  1. Open the Save Game menu and select Cross-Save Settings.
  2. Follow the link or scan the QR code to reach the Cross-Save portal.
  3. Log in and connect the platform accounts you want linked. You need a Pearl Abyss account to manage the linking.
  4. Refresh the game.
  5. Upload your save data to the Cross-Save slot.

One caution: the guide does not spell out restrictions on simultaneous play or how conflicts resolve, and points you to a separate FAQ for the fine print. Upload deliberately, know which save is authoritative, and do not assume it behaves like a cloud sync — 1.15.00 lists a fix for cross-save data loading crashes, so it was not flawless out of the gate.

Update 1.15.00: the boring one that matters

July 24, 02:40 UTC, and it is almost entirely fixes. Which is the point — a patch with no new toys, three weeks after a feature drop, is a studio doing maintenance instead of chasing headlines.

The list worth knowing:

  • Transparency rendering on certain bosses during combat, and UI colour and transparency anomalies with HDR enabled.
  • Crop growth and harvesting failing in specific locations, and large fish vanishing from fish traps — the farming and life-skill economy quietly leaking value.
  • Equipment lock status not persisting for Oongka and Damiane, and the Mace of Ambition repositioned so you can actually reach it.
  • The Axiom Force crosshair displaying outside its activation range, and the camera staying zoomed while swimming in some areas.
  • Wyvern summoning while airborne enabled, and Aerial Roll distance after Aerial Maneuver adjusted.
  • Cross-save data loading crashes, stolen wagons disappearing when using Escape, and Kliff sinking into slopes during the Blinding Flash Finisher.

Nothing there sells a trailer. All of it is the difference between a game people finish and a game people put down.

The official roadmap through September

On June 2 Pearl Abyss published a dev update covering planned work for June through September 2026. Six items, two already shipped — a useful reliability check.

Story improvements. Refining key narrative scenes to strengthen the narrative flow of Kliff's journey. A direct response to the reviews: the narrative was the consensus weak point, and the CEO addressed the criticism publicly in late March.

Re-Blockade update. A new phase for more natural blockade flow, stronghold defence mechanics against invasion threats, and improved rewards for liberating strongholds.

New combat content. A combat feature described only as letting players prove their true strength as a Greymane. Unnamed and undated.

Cross-save. Shipped in 1.14.00.

Character gameplay improvements. Adjustments for Damiane and Oongka so all three playable characters get a share of the spotlight. Partially shipped across 1.12.00, 1.13.00 and 1.14.00.

Quality of life. Non-combat systems including trading and farming. The 1.15.00 crop and fish-trap fixes read like the opening move.

Pearl Abyss attached its standard caveat: everything is in development and details may change on release.

Re-Blockade is the one to watch

Of the six, Re-Blockade carries the most structural consequence. Stronghold defence against invasion threats puts new pressure on territory you already took, which turns liberated ground from a checkbox into something you maintain. Improved liberation rewards push the same way — the world map as a loop instead of a to-do list. If you run the comrades and dispatch economy, that is the system most likely to gain a new job.

The DLC answer is due this quarter

The June dev update teased a DLC as a meaningful addition to your journey and gave no specifics. At the July 7 shareholder meeting in Gwacheon, CEO Heo went further: the DLC is being considered as paid content, and the company would finish discussions on release timing and direction and give a clear answer within the third quarter.

That is the hardest commitment on this page. Not a release date — a date by which you get told the release date. Q3 ends September 30. Nothing said by then is a slip worth noticing.

Unstated: scope, price, whether it is a story expansion or a content pack, and whether it interacts with the Deluxe and Ultimate packs from the editions guide. Anyone telling you otherwise is guessing.

Multiplayer: the stance quietly changed

This is the genuinely new thing, and it deserves care because the position moved.

Crimson Desert shipped single-player, and Pearl Abyss was clear before launch that there were no plans for multiplayer integration. At the July briefing, executives acknowledged high interest and said they are continuously reviewing ways to add it. CEO Heo Jin-young framed it as room to expand the game, with studies underway on technical feasibility and gameplay mechanics — while flagging it as a major task requiring a review of server structures, balance, platform-specific stability and operating systems.

Read that carefully. "There is room for it" and "we are studying feasibility" is not an announcement. No mode, no scope, no timeline. What changed is the door going from closed to ajar, which for the studio behind Black Desert Online is not nothing — but treat every "Crimson Desert multiplayer confirmed" headline as an overreach until Pearl Abyss names a thing.

Switch 2: real, but early

Same briefing, clearest technical detail of the day. Pearl Abyss is reviewing a Nintendo Switch 2 version, currently developed to a level where basic gameplay is possible. Optimisation and quality verification are not complete, and the company had nothing to share on timing.

"Basic gameplay is possible" on a BlackSpace Engine open world is a real milestone — it means the port exists and runs, not that it is close. R&D started around March. Do not expect a date soon.

What Pearl Abyss has not said

The gap between reported and confirmed is where most bad Crimson Desert coverage lives, so here is the honest ledger:

  • No DLC release date, price, or scope. Only a promise of an answer by the end of Q3.
  • No multiplayer mode, format, or timeline. Feasibility study only.
  • No Switch 2 release window. The port runs; optimisation is unfinished.
  • No name or date for the new combat content from the June roadmap.
  • No detail on how far the story revisions go — re-recorded scenes, re-edited cutscenes, or new content are all still possible.
  • No published restrictions on cross-save simultaneous play. The guide defers to a separate FAQ.

One community note while you wait: the Beyond the Abyss video challenge closed on July 12, with ten winners due August 3 collecting a sponsored trip to Pearl Abyss headquarters in Korea.

Quick Action Checklist

  • Update to 1.15.00 before you judge the game. Anything before 1.12.00 is missing outdoor decorating, sliding chain attacks and the boss-retry rework.
  • Set up cross-save from the Save Game menu if you own it on two platforms, but read the FAQ first — simultaneous-play limits are not documented.
  • Take Oongka or Damiane into the Abyss now that 1.13.00 opened it, and check the 39 new Kliff and Oongka pieces plus the 8 for Damiane.
  • Re-test Axiom Force on soft lock-on targets. It activates immediately as of 1.13.00, and the crosshair range bug was fixed in 1.15.00.
  • Craft a Hunter's Sigil if you keep bird pets, and re-check crops and fish traps — both were leaking before 1.15.00 and both feed the cooking loop.
  • Watch for the DLC announcement before September 30. It is the only date Pearl Abyss has committed to.
  • Treat multiplayer and Switch 2 as studies in progress. Neither has a mode, scope, or window attached.

Frequently Asked Questions

Version 1.15.00, posted July 24, 2026, is the most recent numbered patch on the official notice board. It is a fix-focused update covering boss transparency rendering, crop and harvest failures, cross-save data loading crashes, HDR UI colour anomalies, the Axiom Force crosshair range, and enabling Wyvern summoning while airborne. It went live on Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and the Epic Games Store, with the Mac App Store build still in progress at the time of posting.
