Gundam Card Game Series - All 20, and Which Are Buildable

Gundam 00 has 65 cards in the Gundam Card Game and Gundam Wing has 50 - and Wing is the far easier deck to build, because all 50 Wing cards sit inside one legal colour pair and Gundam 00 is split across four colours. Card count is not the number that decides whether your favourite series is playable. I read the Source Title field off all 892 deck-legal cards and worked out which of the 20 series survive contact with the two-colour rule.

The official Gundam Card Game card EB01-002 Hi-Nu Gundam (EX), a blue Lv. 8 cost 7 Unit with 6 AP and 5 HP and the G Generation trait, whose Source Title field reads SD Gundam G Generation ETERNAL rather than Char's Counterattack.

Every Gundam Card Game card carries a field called Source Title, and the rulebook does not know it exists. Section 2 of the Comprehensive Rules Ver. 1.8.0 enumerates the fields the game recognises - card number, card name, card type, colour, trait, zone, AP, HP, Level, cost, effect - and Source Title is not one of them. The words "Source", "Title" and "series" appear nowhere in the 35-page document.

It is still the line that tells you which Gundam a card came from, so I read it off all 892 deck-legal cards. Twenty series, every card carrying exactly one, and a distribution that does not line up with how big the shows are.

Here is the part that matters at a deck box: Mobile Suit Gundam 00 has 65 cards in this game and Gundam Wing has 50, and Wing is much the easier deck to build.

Twenty series, 892 cards

The reason is the two-colour rule. A legal deck uses one or two colours and nothing else (Comprehensive Rules; the deckbuilding guide has the full 50-and-10 breakdown). All 50 Gundam Wing cards are blue or green, so every one of them is legal in the same deck. Gundam 00's 65 cards are spread across green, red, white and purple, so the best you can assemble in one legal pair is 35 of them.

That is the whole shape of this article. Two numbers per series, and the second one is the one that matters.

How I counted

On 23 August 2026 I fetched the detail page for every deck-legal card number in the official card database at gundam-gcg.com/en/cards/ - GD01 through GD05, EB01, and ST01 through ST10, with parallel art collapsed - and read Bandai's own printed fields: colour, card type, trait, link requirement and Source Title.

That is 892 cards, the same total the colour count and the Base count worked from, and my per-colour and per-type tallies reproduce theirs exactly: 199 blue, 195 green, 193 white, 168 red, 137 purple; 560 Units, 145 Commands, 119 Pilots, 68 Bases. Every one of the 892 carries a Source Title, so there is no residual "unknown" bucket in any table below.

I deliberately did not use the database's own series filter. It disagrees with the cards for three of the twenty series, and the last section explains why.

Deck-shape numbers come from the lists Bandai publishes on its own DECKS page. Rules citations are Comprehensive Rules Ver. 1.8.0, dated 10 July 2026.

The full roster

Colours are listed largest share first. "Best legal pair" is the two-colour combination that captures the most cards of that series; where a series is printed in a single colour, a mono-colour deck is legal on its own and the pair column just names the cheapest legal way to widen it.

∀ Gundam14White 14White (mono)14
Endless Waltz14White 14White (mono)14

Those twenty numbers sum to 892 with nothing left over.

Thirteen of the twenty are printed in one or two colours and nothing else - Mobile Suit Gundam, Wing, The Witch from Mercury, GQuuuuuuX, After War Gundam X, AGE, Char's Counterattack, Hathaway's Flash, G Gundam, 0080, V Gundam, ∀ Gundam and Endless Waltz. For those thirteen, "build my favourite series" and "build a legal deck" are the same instruction. Five more sit in three colours, and exactly two - Gundam 00 and SEED DESTINY - are spread over four.

Card count is not buildability

Gundam 00 is the clearest case, because the split runs straight through its own faction.

The official Gundam Card Game card GD04-054 Gundam Virtue (Trans-Am), a purple Lv. 7 cost 5 Unit with 2 AP and 6 HP carrying the CB and GN Drive traits, whose effect destroys any enemy Unit it deals battle damage to.

Celestial Being is Gundam 00's protagonist organisation and its cards are tagged (CB). There are 43 of them, and they are printed in three colours: 16 purple, 15 red, 12 green. You cannot legally play all 43 in one deck. GD04-054 Gundam Virtue (Trans-Am) is purple, GD04-038 Gundam Exia is red, GD03-026 Gundam Dynames is green - one organisation, one show, three decks that cannot be the same deck.

(GN Drive), the trait for the series' signature reactor, splits the same way - 13 purple, 10 green, 6 red out of 29.

SEED DESTINY has the same problem in a smaller pool: 47 cards across four colours, of which the best pair holds 34. Note what that does to the ranking. SEED DESTINY has 47 cards to After War Gundam X's 44, and X gives you all 44 in one legal pair while SEED DESTINY gives you 34.

The inversion at the top of the table is worth staring at:

SeriesTotal cardsIn best legal pairCards lost
SD Gundam G Generation ETERNAL1067630
Mobile Suit Gundam 00653530
Iron-Blooded Orphans59581
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing50500
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY473413

Gundam 00 is the third-largest series in the game and drops to eleventh once you apply the rule that governs every legal deck.

All twenty clear Bandai's own deck width

Here is the reassuring half, and it comes from Bandai's own decklists rather than from theory.

A Gundam Card Game deck is 50 cards with up to four copies of any card number, and the deckbuilding guide found that the seven most recent lists Bandai published run 13, 13, 13, 13, 15, 15 and 16 distinct card numbers. This is a format that wants four-ofs. Thirteen distinct cards at four copies is 52, which is already more than a deck.

So the bar for "can I build this series" is thirteen to sixteen distinct cards inside one legal colour pair - and every one of the twenty clears the bottom of that range. The floor is 14, which is enough to reproduce the thirteen-card lists with a card to spare.

The four smallest, with their type splits inside the best pair:

SeriesCards in pairUnitsPilotsCommandsBasesAt 4-of
∀ Gundam14832156
Endless Waltz14832156
0080: War in the Pocket15733260
Mobile Suit V Gundam211234284

∀ Gundam and Endless Waltz are the same shape twice: fourteen cards, all white, split 8/3/2/1. Run four of everything and you have 56 cards, six over a legal deck. Bandai's own seven lists averaged 30.7 Units, 8.9 Pilots, 6.3 Commands and 4.1 Bases; thirty-two Units, twelve Pilots, eight Commands and four Bases is that shape with a trim, not a compromise.

0080 is the tightest on Units specifically. Seven distinct Units is 28 copies at four apiece, against the 30.7 those official lists average - the thinnest Unit count of any series in the game, and the one place where the maths says a pure build wants help from outside.

The official Gundam Card Game card GD05-001 V2 Gundam, a blue Lv. 6 cost 4 Unit with 4 AP and 5 HP, the League Militaire and Victory Type traits, printing Repair 2 and an Activate Main ability that rests two of your Units to set itself active.

V Gundam is the cleanest mono-colour series in the pool: 21 cards, all blue, 19 of them carrying (League Militaire). A mono-colour deck is explicitly legal, so this is a series that builds itself without a single decision about a second colour.

The biggest series in the game is a video game

The largest Source Title in the Gundam Card Game is SD Gundam G Generation ETERNAL at 106 cards - more than Gundam SEED's 75, more than the original Mobile Suit Gundam's 63. It is not an anime. It is a Bandai Namco game.

It also owns two products outright. Every one of the 90 cards in the Eternal Nexus [EB01] collaboration booster carries it, and so does every one of the 16 in Generation Pulse [ST10]. 90 plus 16 is the whole 106; the series appears in no other product.

Mechanically it behaves as one closed archetype. 95 of the 106 carry the (G Generation) trait, and no card outside this Source Title carries it. The 11 that do not are all Command cards, which mostly print no trait at all.

What sits inside that archetype is the interesting part. EB01-002 Hi-Nu Gundam (EX) is the hero image above; the same set holds Gundam Exia, Gundam Epyon, Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex, Zeta Gundam III P2 Type and Strike Freedom Gundam. All six are filed as SD Gundam G Generation ETERNAL and tagged (G Generation) - which is to say the card game does not file them under Char's Counterattack, Gundam 00, Gundam Wing, Iron-Blooded Orphans, Zeta Gundam or SEED DESTINY, all six of which exist as separate Source Titles with their own cards.

One consequence is worth knowing before you go looking. Bandai's DECKS page lists a "Blue-White Thunderbolt Deck", and no card in the game carries Thunderbolt as a Source Title - the series filter returns nothing for it, because the roster is the twenty above and Thunderbolt is not one of them.

Series is flavour, trait is mechanics

Card text in this game does not ask about Source Titles. It asks about traits - (Zeon), (ZAFT), (Tekkadan), (Academy) - which the Comprehensive Rules define at 2-5-3 as a thing card text is allowed to reference.

I read the rules text of all 892 cards looking for a series name and found none. Three cards come up on a naive search and all three are quoting a card name, not a series: GD03-106 M.A.V. Tactics deploys a [GQuuuuuuX (Omega Psycommu)] token, GD05-120 Shining Finger looks for a Unit "with Shining Gundam in its card name", and GD01-002 Unicorn Gundam (Destroy Mode) looks for "Unicorn Mode" in a card name.

And traits and series are not the same partition.

SeriesIts biggest traitCards with itSeries that trait spansColours
SD Gundam G Generation ETERNAL(G Generation)9513
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED(ZAFT)3022
Mobile Suit Gundam 00(CB)4313
Mobile Suit Gundam(Zeon)3042
Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn(Neo Zeon)2433
Mobile Suit Z Gundam(Titans)3211
Iron-Blooded Orphans(Tekkadan)2811
The Witch from Mercury(Academy)4422
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing(Operation Meteor)1822
After War Gundam X(Vulture)2311

Three of those ten sit in a single series and a single colour: (Titans) is 32 cards, all blue, all Zeta Gundam; (Tekkadan) is 28 cards, all purple, all Iron-Blooded Orphans; (Vulture) is 23 cards, all purple, all After War Gundam X. Outside the ten, (League Militaire) does the same at 19 cards, all blue, all V Gundam. Those are the four biggest cases where flavour and mechanics land on the same pile of cards - smaller ones behave the same way, (White Base Team) at 21 cards all blue and all Mobile Suit Gundam among them - and wherever a trait sits in one series and one colour, a themed deck is also a functional one.

The rest leak. (Earth Federation) is 90 cards spanning eight different series and four colours - the second-largest trait in the game behind (G Generation)'s 95, and the largest one that crosses series at all. (Zeon) covers 57 cards across Mobile Suit Gundam, GQuuuuuuX, 0080 and Unicorn. Building "Earth Federation" is not building a series - it is building across most of the franchise at once.

The official Gundam Card Game card ST02-015 Saint Gabriel Institute, a green Lv. 2 cost 2 Base with 5 HP and the Academy and Stronghold traits, whose Deploy effect adds a Shield to hand and then looks at the top two cards of your deck.

A crossing can be as narrow as a single card. 44 of the 45 (Academy) cards are The Witch from Mercury; the forty-fifth is ST02-015 Saint Gabriel Institute, a Gundam Wing Base sitting in the Wing starter deck. It is green, which is the colour Wing and The Witch from Mercury share, so the two do meet in one legal deck.

It is worth checking what that actually buys you, because the answer is nothing. Twelve cards in the game reference (Academy) in their rules text. Ten of them ask for an (Academy) Unit; GD04-024 Gundam Aerial Rebuild asks for an (Academy) Unit card or Command card, and GD04-085 Suletta Mercury asks for an (Academy) Command card. Not one of the twelve asks for an (Academy) Base. Saint Gabriel Institute is a Base. The trait matches; the payoff does not fire. That is the difference between a trait table and a deck.

Bandai builds this way itself. Most of its published lists are named after traits and cards rather than shows: "Red-Purple Neo Zeon", "Purple-White Vulture", "Blue-Green Cyclops Team Deck", "GD03 The-O Repair Deck". Several are openly cross-series - "GD02 AGE × Wing", "GD02 Tekkadan × Vagan", "Triple Ship Alliance x AGE 2". The very first starter deck's own list is called ST01 Earth Federation / Academy, and Bandai's blurb for it reads "Amuro and Suletta collaborate for total control of the field" - Mobile Suit Gundam and The Witch from Mercury in one box, on purpose, at launch.

Which product to buy for a series

Eight of the ten ST starter decks are single-series products, which makes them the cheapest way into a specific show. Heroic Beginnings [ST01] and Zeon's Rush [ST03] are the two that mix.

ProductSeries in its own card numbers
Heroic Beginnings [ST01]Mobile Suit Gundam 9, The Witch from Mercury 7
Wings of Advance [ST02]Gundam Wing 16

Flash of Radiance [ST08]Hathaway's Flash 15
Destiny Ignition [ST09]SEED DESTINY 10
Generation Pulse [ST10]SD Gundam G Generation ETERNAL 16

The boosters are all multi-series, with a clear lead:

BoosterSeries in it, largest first
Newtype Rising [GD01]Unicorn 32, SEED 32, Mobile Suit Gundam 27, Wing 22, Witch from Mercury 17
Dual Impact [GD02]Z Gundam 31, After War Gundam X 21, Iron-Blooded Orphans 20, GQuuuuuuX 17, AGE 16

Freedom Ascension [GD05]SEED DESTINY 27, Char's Counterattack 27, G Gundam 21, Endless Waltz 14
Eternal Nexus [EB01]SD Gundam G Generation ETERNAL 90

Freedom Ascension [GD05] is the debut set for three series at once - Char's Counterattack, Mobile Fighter G Gundam and Endless Waltz - and Phantom Aria [GD04] introduced both V Gundam and ∀ Gundam. For those five series, every card printed so far comes out of GD04 or GD05 and nothing else, so there is no starter deck shortcut into them.

The four starters arriving 25 September 2026 break the pattern. Aquatic Assault [ST11], Raging Onslaught [ST12], Silent Barrage [ST13] and Heavy Dominion [ST14] are described on Bandai's own product pages by battle style rather than by series - underwater combat, close combat, bit and funnel combat, heavily-armed units - and the example units they name are Char's Z'gok, Gundam Epyon, Qubeley and The-O. None of the four pages carries the FEATURED SERIES block that ST05's page and the GD06 and GD07 pages all carry. The starter deck guide has their prices and contents.

Bandai's own filter undercounts three series

The card database has a series filter, and it does not match the cards. Twenty deck-legal cards carry a Source Title that no filter option matches, so the filter returns zero of them.

The official Gundam Card Game card GD04-002 Penelope (Flight Form), a blue Lv. 6 cost 5 Unit with 3 AP and 5 HP and the Earth Federation trait, which gives all your Earth Federation Units AP+1 during your turn.

Three spellings are responsible.

Printed Source TitleCardsFilter option it should match
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny10Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY
Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans8Mobile Suit Gundam IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS
Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway"s Flash2Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash

GD04-002 Penelope (Flight Form) is one of the two carrying a straight double quote where the apostrophe belongs. The ten SEED Destiny strays are all ten SEED DESTINY cards printed in Phantom Aria [GD04], every one of them purple. The eight Iron-Blooded Orphans strays are all eight IBO cards in Freedom Ascension [GD05], seven purple and one blue.

The practical effect: filter the site for Iron-Blooded Orphans and it returns 51 of the 59 deck-legal card numbers the game has; filter for SEED DESTINY and it returns 37 of 47. In both cases the missing block is overwhelmingly purple, which is the colour both series are actually built in.

The error only runs one way. Checked filter by filter on 23 August 2026, no deck-legal card is returned by more than one series filter, and for the other seventeen series the filter's deck-legal results match the printed field exactly. What makes the filter look less reliable than it is, is the hit count on the results page: it counts parallel art and promo Resource cards as separate entries, so it reads far higher than any card count in this article. Every number here is read off the card.

What ships next

Two more series are confirmed and neither has shipped.

Stardust Trails [GD06] releases 30 October 2026 and its product page names two featured series: Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ and Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory. Neither appears on any card in the database today. Blazing Fist [GD07] follows on 29 January 2027, bringing Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team.

That takes the roster from 20 to 22 at the end of October and to 23 in January, and every table above moves with it. Bandai has published no card lists for either set, so how many cards each series gets and which colours they land in is unknown until the sets are out.

What this count does not tell you

Three honest limits.

This is what exists, not what wins. I have no tournament results. A series can be perfectly buildable inside one colour pair and still be bad, and nothing in a card count says otherwise.

Clearing thirteen distinct cards is a floor, not a deck. The four-of maths says a fourteen-card series can fill fifty slots. Whether those particular fourteen cards form a functioning curve is a different question, and the deckbuilding guide has the Level distribution that actually decides it. The banned and restricted list also constrains a few of these builds - the twenty vanilla Lv. 2 cost 1 Units are collectively capped at four copies of one of them, and the tournament rules guide has the rest.

Purity is a self-imposed rule, not a game rule. Nothing in the Comprehensive Rules stops a deck mixing series, and Bandai's own published lists do it repeatedly - AGE × Wing, Tekkadan × Vagan, Earth Federation / Academy. A series-locked build is a flavour constraint you are choosing to accept.

The counts are 892 distinct deck-legal card numbers as of 23 August 2026, covering GD01 through GD05, EB01 and ST01 through ST10, parallel art collapsed. Promo and alternate printings do not create new card numbers and are not counted separately.

Frequently Asked Questions

Twenty, as of 23 August 2026. Reading the Source Title field off all 892 deck-legal cards in the official database gives 20 distinct series, from SD Gundam G Generation ETERNAL at 106 cards down to ∀ Gundam and Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz at 14 each. Two more are confirmed but have not shipped: Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ and Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory arrive with Stardust Trails [GD06] on 30 October 2026, and Gundam: The 08th MS Team with Blazing Fist [GD07] on 29 January 2027.
