Genshin Carefree Snowball Fight Guide — 420 Primogems

Carefree Snowball Fight caps your Snowball Cheer until Day 5, so the full 420 Primogems can't be claimed before October 25. Here is how a match turns into Snowball Cheer, the 1,660 ceiling per match, and everything the six milestones pay.

HoYoverse's banner for the Carefree Snowball Fight event: a laughing brown-haired child in a red vest throws both arms up behind a large, grumpy blue Oddowl, with a small ice-blue creature holding a jar and a swirl lollipop beside them and snowballs flying, captioned "Carefree Snowball Fight, Fun Throwing Challenge" against a pale snowy forest.

Nobody Finishes Before Day 5

Carefree Snowball Fight has a speed limit. HoYoverse's event notice caps your Snowball Cheer at 2,000 from the first day, raises the cap on Day 3 and again on Day 5, and stops it at 6,000. The last of the event's six 70-Primogem milestones sits at exactly 6,000. Count October 21 as Day 1 and the full 420 Primogems can't be claimed before October 25. The event closes at 03:59 server time on November 2, which leaves October 25 through November 1 to finish once the cap is out of the way.

Our Phase II events roundup went out a week before this event opened, when HoYoverse had published its dates and little else, and it kept the Primogem total out as unconfirmed. The event is live now, and the Genshin Impact Wiki lists the reward track (70 Primogems at each 1,000 Snowball Cheer, 420 in all, the same total Game8's guide gives) and the list of challenges a match pays for. This guide covers what the roundup could not: how a match turns into Snowball Cheer, what the cap means for your schedule, and what comes with the Primogems.

Getting In Takes a Snezhnaya Quest

HoYoverse's notice runs the event from 10:00 on October 21 to 03:59 on November 2, 2026, server time, and sets three requirements:

  • Adventure Rank 20 or above.
  • Archon Quest Prologue: Act III, "Song of the Dragon and Freedom."
  • "Gunfire in the Silent Lands," from Archon Quest Chapter VII: Act I, "Everwinter Without Mercy."

The third is the one that can hold you up. The wiki lists "Gunfire in the Silent Lands" as the second part of Chapter VII: Act I, starting in Sretomorozsk, and the act's first part, "Into the Wind, Into the Frigid North," needs Adventure Rank 18 and Prologue: Act III. If you have not started Snezhnaya's story, that is two Archon Quest parts between you and the snowball fight. The rest of the region's unlock chain is laid out in our Shadow Realm guide.

The event's in-game description puts the fight in the snowfields southwest of Morepesok, in Everfrozen Earth. HoYoverse's notice says the challenge is entered in Co-Op Mode.

The Cap Calendar

Event daysDates (October 21 = Day 1)Snowball Cheer capPrimogems you can claim
Days 1–2October 21–222,000140 (milestones 1,000 and 2,000)
Days 3–4October 23–24Raised; Game8 lists 4,000280 if the cap is 4,000
Day 5 onwardOctober 25 to 03:59 on November 26,000420 (all six milestones)

HoYoverse gives the starting cap, the two days it rises and the 6,000 maximum. It does not print the middle step or the time of day each rise lands. Game8's guide fills the gap with 4,000 on October 23 and 6,000 on October 25, which fits a cap that climbs in two equal steps.

Two things follow:

  • Starting late costs nothing in rewards. From October 25 the whole 6,000 is open at once, so a player who first plays then can still claim all six milestones.
  • November 1 is the real last day. The close at 03:59 server time on November 2 comes a minute before that day's 04:00 daily reset, so the event's last server day is November 1; only its after-midnight hours spill into November 2. Overflowing Favor closes at the same moment.

How a Match Pays Snowball Cheer

Two scores are in play, and only one of them unlocks rewards. Inside a match, your team scores points by knocking down Oddowls; the tutorial says a higher score means more Snowball Cheer. Snowball Cheer itself comes from stage challenges, per HoYoverse's notice, and the wiki's scoring table lists 22 of them. Here they are grouped into their ladders:

ChallengeSteps and Snowball CheerMost per match
Complete the match300300
Total team score of 5,000 / 10,000 / 20,000200 / 100 / 50350

Participate in defeating 5 / 10 / 20 Plain Ol' Oddowls100 / 50 / 20170
Avoid being hit by any attacks / take no more than 5 hits100 / 50150

Gain 2 / 4 / 6 buffs20 / 50 / 2090
Total1,660

What the Table Says

  • Finishing is worth 300 on its own. A match you complete with nothing else ticked still pays, and 20 of those reach 6,000.
  • Even a perfect run needs four matches. Three matches at the 1,660 ceiling come to 4,980, short of 6,000.
  • Two Shockwave Wonderbeet summons pay as much as finishing: 200 for the first, 100 for the second.
  • Getting hit costs up to 150. A hitless match clears both the 100-point and the 50-point line. The archive's Frenzied Bomber Oddowl is the one described as attacking with explosive bombs.
  • The score ladder is a team number. The wiki words those three lines as total team score, not your own.

Oddowls, Wonderbeets and the Three Stages

The tutorial's one aiming note is that snowballs fall back toward the ground as they fly, so it tells you to aim well.

The event's Snowball Fight Archive lists three kinds of Oddowl:

OddowlVitalityWhat the archive says
Plain Ol' Oddowl1A perfectly ordinary Oddowl that has gone haywire
Treasure-Hoarding Oddowl2Defeating one seems to earn a higher score
Frenzied Bomber Oddowl2Attacks with explosive bombs that pose a serious threat

The tutorial also tells you to watch for different-coloured Oddowls, which it says are worth more points. Treasure-Hoarding Oddowls have their own ladder in the challenge list, 120 Snowball Cheer for 10 of them.

Two panels from the Carefree Snowball Fight tutorial: on the left, a glowing gold Oddowl, a round owl-like creature, perched on a wooden stand on a stone platform; on the right, a red Oddowl on a wooden crate in front of a rocky cliff.

Two Wonderbeets join the fight as it goes on, and both need you beside them:

  • Pitcher Wonderbeet. The tutorial says to get to its side "as soon as possible" and cheer it on. Once you finish, it grants you the Snowball Flurry buff for a while, which the archive describes as launching snowballs in rapid succession. A cheered-up Pitcher also throws snowballs at the Oddowls itself.
  • Shockwave Wonderbeet. It turns up when the Oddowls start amassing. You cheer it on by staying by its side while dodging attacks, and once you finish, per the tutorial, it unleashes a force that defeats all the Oddowls. The archive adds that cheering makes it release the shockwave faster.

HoYoverse's notice says completing a cheer grants extra buffs, and the challenge list pays for gaining 2, 4 and 6 buffs. The two Wonderbeet summon ladders are worth up to 390 Snowball Cheer a match, and the buff ladder adds up to 90 more, before counting the Oddowls the Shockwave clears.

The Shockwave Wonderbeet from the event tutorial: a round, ice-blue creature with leaf-like fronds and a wide-open mouth, sitting in an icy base while an orange explosion bursts behind it.

Each round, the wiki says, picks one of three stages at random:

  • The train. The platform and the train cars, where the Oddowls "could pop out from anywhere."
  • Svetloledovka. Beside the tracks in Svetloledovka, in Everfrozen Earth, among Prime Ice creations you are asked to keep the Oddowls away from.
  • The cabin. A cabin out in the wild that the Oddowls have taken over.

The Svetloledovka stage of Carefree Snowball Fight: wooden platforms and rope-strung posts hung with small lanterns, with two giant rusted mechanical arms and towering blue ice cliffs behind.

What the 420 Primogems Come With

The wiki's reward table, one row per milestone:

2,0007030,0003 Hero's Wit, 6 Mystic Enhancement Ore

5,0007030,0006 Guide to Glory, 6 dishes of food
6,0007030,000The "Oddowl" furnishing, 3 Sanctifying Unction

Added up row by row, that is 420 Primogems and 180,000 Mora, plus:

  • 6 Hero's Wit, 120,000 character EXP at 20,000 each.
  • 12 Mystic Enhancement Ore, 120,000 weapon EXP at 10,000 each.
  • 3 Sanctifying Unction, 7,500 artifact EXP at 2,500 each.
  • 6 each of Guide to Charity, Fortitude and Glory, Snezhnaya's three talent-book series from Relics of the Fallen Grace. Per the wiki's item pages, Charity levels Odette and the Cryo Traveler, Fortitude levels Alyosha, the Cryo Traveler and Vodyanitsa, and Glory levels the Cryo Traveler and Vesna. If you are building Vesna or Vodyanitsa, one of the three stacks is for her; the domain's weekday rotation is in our Snezhnaya farming guide.

At 160 Primogems an Intertwined Fate, the 420 is about two and a half pulls; our wish guide has the rest of that arithmetic. The wiki also lists a Battle Pass event mission for reaching 5,000 Snowball Cheer, worth 1,500 BP EXP, so the fifth milestone clears it as well.

The "Oddowl" furnishing icon: a chubby blue owl-like standee with big amber eyes, pointed ears and a fluffy white chest.

The last milestone holds the furnishing. The wiki lists "Oddowl" as a 4-star exterior furnishing, a standee of the bad-tempered Oddowl from the fairy tale the event is built on, with this event as its source. It goes in your Serenitea Pot, and it is behind the 6,000 milestone, the one the cap holds back until Day 5.

The rest of Version 7.1's closing dates, including Stygian Onslaught on November 3, are in our Phase II events roundup. More Genshin coverage lives on the Genshin Impact coverage hub, and the rest of our game guides are on the Mythras blog.

Quick Action Checklist

  • Reach Adventure Rank 20 and finish "Gunfire in the Silent Lands," the second part of Chapter VII: Act I, if you haven't. Without it the event stays locked.
  • Snowball Cheer is capped at 2,000 at first and rises on Day 3 and Day 5 to 6,000. Counting October 21 as Day 1, all six milestones and all 420 Primogems open on October 25.
  • November 1 is the last full day: the event closes at 03:59 server time on November 2.
  • Every completed match pays 300 Snowball Cheer. The full challenge list tops out at 1,660 a match, so 6,000 takes at least four matches.
  • Inside a match, push the team score past 5,000 (200), get the Shockwave Wonderbeet summoned twice (300), and dodge the Frenzied Bomber Oddowls' bombs (up to 150 for a hitless match).
  • Go after different-coloured Oddowls; the tutorial says they are worth more points.
  • Reach 5,000 Snowball Cheer for the Battle Pass event mission (1,500 BP EXP) and 6,000 for the 4-star "Oddowl" furnishing.
