Genshin Vodyanitsa Build Guide — Talents, Weapon, Artifacts
Vodyanitsa's signature ascension passive does precisely nothing below 40,000 Max HP, and both halves of its bonus cap out at exactly 65,000 — a target most support builds never plan a single roll around.

Why Vodyanitsa Needs Her Own Guide
Our 7.1 release date guide named Vodyanitsa the moment she was announced — 5-star Hydro Catalyst, Prima Donna of the Korolevskiy Troupe, live from September 23 — and then explicitly declined to touch her numbers, because the ascension and talent tables were blank stubs two days before launch. That was the right call at the time. It is now two days after release, the wiki's talent tables are fully populated, and the actual question a reader has — what do I level, what do I put on her, what does she need around her — has a real, sourced answer.
She is also a genuinely unusual build. Vodyanitsa is a Hydro healer-support whose numbers scale off Max HP rather than ATK or Elemental Mastery, and her single highest-value passive does not turn on until she is absurdly overhealed by normal standards. That is the build, and it is worth spelling out in full rather than in a paragraph tucked into a launch roundup.
What Her Kit Actually Does
Vodyanitsa's Elemental Skill, Rechitativ: Sonorous Dawn, puts her into the "Song of Ages Past" state for 16 seconds. While it is active, she periodically summons the Horn of Spring's Call, which strikes nearby opponents alongside her active character, and both that attack and her initial cast reduce the target's Hydro and Cryo RES. At the same time, the active character periodically heals for a flat amount plus a percentage of Vodyanitsa's Max HP, and gains extra interruption resistance.
Her Elemental Burst, Koda: Sink With Thee, is a single AoE Hydro nuke that deals more damage if it lands while Song of Ages Past is already running.
The part that makes her a build article rather than a paragraph: using the Skill also grants "Lead Vocal" and "Chorus" stacks, which convert the party's next few Hydro or Cryo hits into buffed hits — and if a Stellar Vortex is already on the field from someone else's Stellar Swirl, her 1st Ascension Passive turns it into an upgraded Wandering Vortex instead, which sheds 35% Anemo RES from nearby enemies and extends the Radiance: Stellar Swirl window by 4 seconds. She does not create Stellar Swirl herself. She upgrades it when someone else does.

The 40,000 HP Threshold That Runs Her Whole Kit
Here is the specific, checkable claim the rest of this build hangs on. Her 4th Ascension Passive, Dirge of the Fandyr, reads: for every 1,000 Max HP she has in excess of 40,000, the Lead Vocal/Chorus effect gains 140 flat Hydro and Cryo DMG, or 260 flat Stellar Swirl reaction DMG if a Wandering Vortex is active. Below 40,000 Max HP, that clause does literally nothing — it is not a diminishing bonus, it is a threshold with a wall in front of it.
The caps close the loop cleanly: 3,500 flat Hydro/Cryo DMG divided by 140 is 25, and 6,500 flat Stellar Swirl DMG divided by 260 is also 25. Both halves of the bonus max out at the same point — 25,000 HP over the 40,000 floor, or 65,000 Max HP total. Her signature weapon's passive uses the identical 40,000 floor for its own ATK buff (more on that below), so this is not a one-off number tucked into a single passive. It is the target the entire kit is built around, and it is a target most support builds never plan a single artifact roll toward.
Talent Priority: Skill First, and It's Not Close
At talent level 10, here is what each talent actually does:
| Talent | What it governs | Value at Lv. 10 |
|---|---|---|
| Elemental Skill (Rechitativ: Sonorous Dawn) | Healing per tick, Hydro/Cryo RES shred, Wandering Vortex upgrade | 593 + 5.04% Max HP healing every 1.5s; 30% Hydro/Cryo RES reduction for 6s; a 5.89% Max HP hit on cast, then more from Horn of Spring's Call roughly every 3s across the 16s duration |
| Elemental Burst (Koda: Sink With Thee) | A single AoE Hydro hit, boosted during her own Song of Ages Past | 82.2% Max HP normally, roughly 153% Max HP (82.2% × 1.864) if cast while Song of Ages Past is already running |
Reading those side by side, the case for Skill first is not "bigger number" the way it would be for a damage dealer — her Burst hit is larger in isolation. It is that almost everything she is actually built to do lives in the Skill: the healing that keeps a team alive, the RES shred that buffs the party's Hydro and Cryo damage, and the Wandering Vortex upgrade that is the entire reason to run her in a Stellar Swirl team. The Burst is a periodic damage tick that happens to be better when the Skill is already active. The constellations agree with that read — Constellation 3 raises the Skill three levels, Constellation 5 raises the Burst three levels, the same lower-number-goes-to-the-primary-talent pattern our damage formula guide and Flins build guide both point to.
Level Skill to 10 first, then Burst, then Normal Attack last — she is not meant to be autoattacking.
Ascension and Talent Materials: Odette's Farm Route Again
Vodyanitsa's material list is close to a copy-paste of Odette's, which our Snezhnaya farming guide already worked out before either of them existed as playable characters.
| Requirement | What she needs |
|---|---|
| Ascension gem | Varunada Lazurite (1 Sliver / 9 Fragment / 9 Chunk / 6 Gemstone) |
| Local specialty | 168 Frostfairy Flower — same plant as Odette, found at Snezhnograd, the Sanctuary of Grief and Pilgrimage to the Sacred Gorge |
| Boss drop | 46 Unscorched Blossom Branch, from the Immortal Construct in Everfrozen Earth — the same boss Odette farms |
| Common drops | Chimeric Core / Symbiotic Chimeric Nucleus / Prime Chimeric Nexus, from Aberrant Chimeric Monsters |
| Talent books | Teachings/Guide/Philosophies of Fortitude — Relics of the Fallen Grace, open Tuesday, Friday and Sunday |
| Weekly boss material | Madman's Restraint, from the Heretic of the False Moon (Nod-Krai's False Moon Institute) |

Two things worth flagging before you plan a farming week. First, the Fortitude book slot was previously a two-character series (Alyosha and Traveler (Cryo)) per our Snezhnaya guide's table — it is now a three-character series with Vodyanitsa added, which is worth knowing if you were treating Tuesday/Friday as a light day. Second, add up her ascension Mora (420,000) and all three talents to 10 (4,957,500) and you get 5,377,500 Mora — the exact figure our farming guide already calculated for a "standard" Snezhnaya character, because the ascension template and talent curve are shared across the whole nation. Her weekly boss material sends you to Nod-Krai, not Snezhnaya — the same Heretic of the False Moon run Alyosha's farm route already uses (Odette's own weekly material comes from a different Trounce Domain, in Sumeru); see our weekly boss guide for the full Trounce Domain map if you're short on Madman's Restraint.
Weapon: Hymn of the Maelstrom Versus the Free Option
Vodyanitsa's release-version 5-star Catalyst, Hymn of the Maelstrom, is featured on the concurrent Epitome Invocation weapon banner (September 23 – October 13, 2026) alongside Vesna's own weapon. It carries HP% as its secondary stat, and its passive, Rondo of Slumber, is built entirely around the same 40,000 HP threshold as her ascension passive:
- Flat Healing Bonus, +4% at R1 rising to +8% at R5.
- On healing, the wielder gains a stacking buff (up to 3 stacks, 10s each): their own Max HP increases by that same 4-8%, and the currently active party member's ATK increases based on the wielder's Max HP over 40,000 — 0.4% ATK per 1,000 HP at R1, 0.8% at R5, capped at 8% (R1) to 16% (R5) ATK.
- If a nearby party member triggers Frozen or Stellar Swirl, both of those bonuses are boosted by a further 75% for 5 seconds.
- All of it works while she is off the field.
Do the same division as before: at R5, 16% divided by 0.8% is 20, so the ATK bonus caps at 20,000 HP over the floor — 60,000 Max HP total, close to but not identical with the ascension passive's 65,000 cap. Build toward the higher number and both effects are maxed together.
If you are not pulling the banner, Prototype Amber is a legitimate free alternative and one our best F2P teams guide already covers: a forgeable 4-star Catalyst with 9% HP as its secondary stat and a passive that restores party HP and Energy after a Burst. It does not touch the 40,000 HP mechanic the way Hymn of the Maelstrom does, but it is free, it fits her HP-scaling identity better than most alternatives, and it reaches R5 without a single wish.

Artifacts: Heart of the Furnace or Ocean-Hued Clam
Two real options, depending on which half of her kit you're building around.
Heart of the Furnace, from Snezhnaya's Inverted Glacier domain (already covered in our Snezhnaya farming guide), gives +18% ATK at two pieces, and at four pieces the wearer gains +12% ATK for 12s and the whole party gains +50% Stellar Glimmer reaction DMG when the wearer triggers or deals Stellar Glimmer reaction damage — a category that explicitly includes Stellar Swirl, per our Lunar Reactions guide. It works off-field and does not stack with a second copy. This is the pick if your account is built around a Wandering Vortex team and you want Vodyanitsa's own trigger to buff everyone else's Stellar Swirl damage, not just her own.
Ocean-Hued Clam is the other legitimate answer, and it exists specifically to reward the size of her healing numbers. Two pieces give +15% Healing Bonus. Four pieces convert healing done into a Sea-Dyed Foam that explodes for AoE damage based on 90% of the accumulated healing (capped at 30,000 HP banked, one foam every 3.5 seconds, off-field capable). Given that her Skill alone heals for 593 plus just over 5% of her Max HP every 1.5 seconds across a 16-second window, a well-built Vodyanitsa is one of the few characters in the game who can realistically stack a Sea-Dyed Foam toward its cap on her own.

Main stats either way: HP% Sands and HP% Goblet are close to mandatory given how much of her kit reads off Max HP, with a Healing Bonus Circlet if you're leaning Ocean-Hued Clam or CRIT if you're leaning on her own Burst damage.
Constellations: C2 and C6 Are the Real Jumps
| Con. | Name | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| C1 | Waters in Full Splendor | Each Song of Ages Past healing tick also grants nearby party members ATK equal to 0.8% of Vodyanitsa's Max HP for 5s |
| C2 | Echoes That Pierce the Snow | Horn of Spring's Call hits grant the active character +50% CRIT DMG on Hydro/Cryo DMG for 5s (or +60% CRIT DMG on Stellar Swirl reaction DMG with a Wandering Vortex active); also extends Song of Ages Past's duration by 9s |
| C3 | Song Lingering on a Spring Morning | Skill +3 talent levels (max 15) |
| C4 | Melancholic Voice Upon the Gentle Waters | Healing a target under 40% HP grants +50% healing on that tick; healing a target at 40%+ HP instead grants Vodyanitsa +20% Max HP for 6s, stacking 3 times |
| C5 | Together, Down Into the Deep | Burst +3 talent levels (max 15) |
| C6 | Neverending Song of Revelry | C2's CRIT DMG buff now hits all nearby party members; while Song of Ages Past is active, nearby Stellar Swirl reaction DMG is Elevated 25% and Hydro/Cryo DMG is increased 60% |
C2 is the constellation that changes how she plays rather than just how hard she hits — stretching Song of Ages Past from 16 to 25 seconds means the healing, RES shred, and Wandering Vortex window are up for well over half of most rotations instead of a fraction of one. C6 is a genuine ceiling: Elevation is a separate, rare multiplier bracket that does not share space with ordinary DMG Bonus sources — our damage formula guide flagged it as something "currently granted only by certain 5-star constellations," and this is a live example of exactly that. C1, C3, C4 and C5 are worth having but none of them changes a team plan the way C2 or C6 does.
Team Comp: She Needs Someone Else to Start the Reaction
Three requirements fall straight out of the kit:
- A Stellar Swirl enabler. Vodyanitsa upgrades an existing Stellar Vortex into a Wandering Vortex — she does not create Stellar Swirl on her own. As of today that requires Sandrone, Odette, or the Cryo Traveler in the party to actually trigger the Cryo-plus-Anemo reaction first (see the caveat below on Vesna).
- Something for her to heal and buff. Her value is almost entirely in what she does for the active character — healing, RES shred, and the Lead Vocal/Chorus DMG bonus. A team with no real damage dealer on field wastes most of what she offers.
- A genuine HP investment. Everything above the 40,000 HP floor is free party-wide damage and a bigger weapon ATK buff. Below it, two of her best numbers are simply switched off. Build her like a dedicated HP stacker, not a healer who happens to have some HP substats.
One live wrinkle worth flagging rather than quietly building around: Vesna, also released in Version 7.1, has a Stellar Jubilee Passive that converts party members' Cryo Swirl into Stellar Swirl — functionally the same enabling role as Sandrone, Odette and the Cryo Traveler. The wiki's own aggregated Stellar Swirl reaction page still lists only those three as of this writing, so whether Vesna counts as a fourth enabler by the site's own categorization is not yet settled two days after her release. Until that resolves, treat the three confirmed names as the safe planning list.

Quick Action Checklist
- Level her Elemental Skill first — it governs her healing, her Hydro/Cryo RES shred, and her Wandering Vortex upgrade, which is most of what she's actually for.
- She does nothing extra below 40,000 Max HP. Both her ascension passive and her signature weapon key off that exact floor.
- Push toward 60,000-65,000 Max HP to cap both the weapon's ATK bonus (60k) and the ascension passive's flat DMG bonus (65k) at the same time.
- Farm her materials on Odette's route: Frostfairy Flower, Varunada Lazurite, the Immortal Construct boss, and Philosophies of Fortitude (Tue/Fri/Sun) — now a three-character series, not two.
- Her weekly boss material, Madman's Restraint, comes from Nod-Krai's False Moon Institute, not from Snezhnaya.
- Hymn of the Maelstrom is featured on the Sept 23-Oct 13 weapon banner; Prototype Amber is a free, HP-secondary-stat alternative if you're not pulling.
- Run Heart of the Furnace for a party-wide Stellar Swirl damage buff, or Ocean-Hued Clam to convert her large healing numbers into free AoE damage.
- C2 (longer Song of Ages Past) changes her uptime; C6 (Elevated Stellar Swirl DMG, party-wide CRIT DMG) is the real damage ceiling.
- She upgrades Stellar Swirl, she doesn't create it — bring Sandrone, Odette, or the Cryo Traveler to actually trigger the reaction first.
