Genshin Flins Build Guide — Talents, Weapon, Artifacts
Flins does not poke a shield and walk away. His whole kit is a two-stage transformation that turns his own Elemental Skill and Burst into direct Lunar-Charged hits, which means the stat priorities and artifact math for a normal Electro DPS do not apply to him. Here is what actually moves his damage, talent by talent.

Why Flins Needs His Own Guide
Our Lunar Reactions guide already covers what Flins is in the party: one of three characters who convert Electro-Charged into Lunar-Charged, worth up to 14 percent bonus Base DMG from his own ATK, raising the party's Moonsign by a level. That is the mechanic. It is not a build.
What that guide does not answer is what to actually do with him — which talent to level first, whether his 5-star signature weapon is worth pulling for or whether a rod you got for free out of the fishing shop does the job, which of the three Lunar artifact sets fits a character who has to stay on the field, and what his six constellations change. That is a different question, and it is the one this post answers.
Flins reran alongside Ineffa in Phase 2 of Version 7.0, live from September 1 to September 22, 2026, paired with his signature polearm Bloodsoaked Ruins on the weapon banner. He first released with Nod-Krai in the Luna I update, at Adventure Rank content gated behind the region's own quest line.
The Manifest Flame Loop Is the Entire Kit
Flins does not have a "press E, press Q, walk away" rotation. His kit is a two-stage transformation, and almost all of his damage lives inside it.
Pressing his Elemental Skill, Ancient Rite: Arcane Light, puts him into Manifest Flame form. In this form his Normal and Charged Attacks convert to Electro damage that cannot be overridden by another infusion, his interruption resistance goes up, and his Elemental Skill itself is replaced by a new one: Northland Spearstorm, an AoE Electro hit on a 6-second base cooldown that cannot be reduced by other effects (the 16-second cooldown belongs to the initial Ancient Rite: Arcane Light press that starts the transformation, not to Northland Spearstorm itself).
Using Northland Spearstorm does two things. It deals its own hit, and for the next 6 seconds it swaps his Elemental Burst, Ancient Ritual: Cometh the Night, for a cheaper variant called Thunderous Symphony. If there is a thundercloud nearby from an active Lunar-Charged reaction, both his normal burst and Thunderous Symphony deal an extra hit of damage — that hit is itself counted as Lunar-Charged DMG, not ordinary Electro.
So the loop in order is: Skill (transform) → Skill again (Northland Spearstorm, AoE hit, opens the burst discount window) → Burst (Thunderous Symphony if you're inside the 6-second window, full burst if not). Both burst versions hit harder with a thundercloud present, which means the ordinary play pattern is to get an Electro-Hydro Lunar-Charged reaction going before you burst, not after.

Talent Priority: Burst, and It's Not Close
Compare what each talent's numbers actually add up to at the same investment level, and the priority answers itself.
At talent level 10, Northland Spearstorm — his upgraded Elemental Skill hit — deals 321% ATK in one instance. His Elemental Burst at the same level 10, across its full sequence (initial hit, two middle-phase Lunar-Charged hits, one final-phase Lunar-Charged hit) totals roughly 737% ATK before the Moonsign: Ascendant Gleam bonus hits adds more on top. The burst alone does more than double what the skill does at identical investment.
| Talent | What it scales | Approx. total multiplier at Lv. 10 |
|---|---|---|
| Elemental Burst (Ancient Ritual: Cometh the Night) | Initial + 2 middle-phase + 1 final-phase Lunar-Charged hits | ~737% ATK |
| Elemental Skill (Ancient Rite: Arcane Light → Northland Spearstorm) | Single AoE Electro hit | 321% ATK |
| Normal Attack (Pocztowy Demonspear) | 5-hit combo + Charged Attack | Standard polearm scaling, mostly filler between skill/burst windows |
The constellations back this reading up: Constellation 3, Stranger in the Night, raises the Burst by three talent levels; Constellation 5, Exile's Shadow, raises the Skill by three levels. Cheaper constellations investing in the higher-value talent first is the standard tell for priority, and it lines up with the raw numbers here. Level Burst first, Skill second, Normal Attack last — the same order our damage formula guide recommends for any talent that carries a character's main damage instance.
His Utility Passive, A Light in the Dark, is unrelated to combat — it surfaces Nod-Krai local specialty nodes on the minimap and lets you understand Wilderness Exiles and Wilderness Hunters. Free value, no investment needed, no bearing on damage output.
Ascension and Talent Materials: Two Regions, Not One
Flins is filed as a Nod-Krai character in-game (his lore ties him to Snezhnaya, but his farm route is entirely in Nod-Krai), and his shopping list pulls from three different sources — none of which overlap with the Snezhnaya farm route our Snezhnaya guide covers, because that's a different region.
| Material type | Item | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Gemstone | Vajrada Amethyst Sliver → Fragment → Chunk → Gemstone | Electro Hypostasis and Electro Regisvine, or converted from other Electro gems |
| Local specialty | Frostlamp Flower | Found at Frostmoon Enclave, Eye of Kratti, Final Night Cemetery and Sigurd's grave — all in Nod-Krai |
| Boss material | Broken → Reinforced → Precision Kuuvahki Stamping Die / Drive Shaft | Dropped by Landcruisers, the Fatui mechanical common enemies found across Nod-Krai and Snezhnaya |
| Talent books | Teachings/Guide/Philosophies of Vagrancy | Lightless Capital domain, open Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday |
| Weekly boss material | Ascended Sample: Queen | Dropped by the Ascended King / Sublimated Queen trounce domain boss — see our weekly boss guide for where that fight is and what else it drops |
| Crown | Crown of Insight | Needed for one talent past level 10; from events or Golden Slumber |
The Drive Shaft chain is the one to plan around. Landcruisers are common-enemy density, not a boss, but Precision Kuuvahki Stamping Dies specifically are the highest-tier drop and take the longest to accumulate — clear Landcruiser encampments across Nod-Krai and Snezhnaya on your dailies rather than trying to farm one location on repeat.

Weapon: Bloodsoaked Ruins vs. the Rod You Already Own
Flins's signature weapon, Bloodsoaked Ruins, is a 5-star polearm at 48 base ATK with CRIT Rate as its secondary stat. Its passive, Mournful Tribute, does three things at refinement 1: for 3.5 seconds after using an Elemental Burst, Lunar-Charged DMG is increased by 36 percent (up to 84 percent at R5); after triggering a Lunar-Charged reaction, the wielder gains CRIT DMG +28 percent (up to 56 percent at R5) for 6 seconds; and Elemental Energy is restored once every 14 seconds on a Lunar-Charged trigger. Every part of that passive lines up with the loop described above — burst, thundercloud, more burst — so it is close to a best-case weapon for exactly how Flins is played.
It is not the only option, though, and the free one is sitting in a system you may have already cleared out. "The Catch," the free 4-star polearm from the Inazuma Fishing Association (full cost breakdown in our fishing guide), carries Energy Recharge as its secondary and a passive that reads Elemental Burst DMG +16% to +32%, Burst CRIT Rate +6% to +12% across its five refinements — refinements bought with fish, not wishes. Since roughly three-quarters of Flins's damage total lives inside his burst sequence, a flat Burst DMG and Burst CRIT Rate weapon is a genuinely strong fit, not a placeholder. If you have already farmed The Catch to R5 for another Inazuma polearm user, it is worth trying on Flins before assuming you need the banner pull.
Between the two: Bloodsoaked Ruins wins on raw ceiling because its buffs stack with everything The Catch offers and add CRIT DMG and energy sustain on top. But The Catch closes a meaningful part of that gap for zero Primogems, which matters more for Flins than it would for a character whose damage is spread evenly across Skill and Normal Attacks instead of concentrated in one Burst sequence.

Artifacts: Why the Off-Field Lunar Sets Are the Wrong Pick
Genshin ships three artifact sets built for Lunar teams, and our Lunar Reactions guide lists all three. Two of them are the wrong choice for Flins specifically, and the reason is in his own kit text: his Elemental Skill carries the utility tag "Requires Staying on Field."
Aubade of Morningstar and Moon boosts its wearer's own Lunar Reaction DMG by 20 percent while off-field, plus another 40 percent on top once the party reaches Ascendant Gleam — 60 percent total, but only for a character who is benched between rotations. Flins cannot be off-field during the part of his rotation that deals almost all of his damage, so he forfeits nearly all of that bonus on himself. Silken Moon's Serenade isn't off-field-gated the same way — its 4-piece gives the whole party 60 (Nascent Gleam) or 120 (Ascendant Gleam) Elemental Mastery whenever the wearer deals Elemental DMG, and it's specifically built to still proc from off-field — but that's exactly the point: it's designed around a support who isn't actively attacking, not an on-field carry. Both sets are better on a second Moonsign character you're benching between rotations than on Flins.
Night of the Sky's Unveiling is the one that fits. Its 2-piece gives 80 Elemental Mastery, and its 4-piece, Gleaming Moon: Intent, triggers when a nearby party member sets off a Lunar Reaction while the wearer is on the field, granting 15 percent CRIT Rate at Nascent Gleam or 30 percent at Ascendant Gleam for 4 seconds. That on-field requirement is a real condition, not "no condition" — it just happens to be the one condition Flins already meets every time he's doing anything, since his own kit keeps him on the field for his whole damage window. Since he also needs CRIT to make Bloodsoaked Ruins's CRIT DMG proc worth anything, this is the set that actually applies to him. Run one other Lunar enabler for a second Gleaming Moon instance in the party (each distinct one adds a further 10 percent Lunar Reaction DMG for everyone), and you get the team-wide payoff without giving up Flins's own CRIT.
On main stats: CRIT Rate/CRIT DMG Circlet, ATK% Sands (his talents scale off ATK, not EM), and an ATK% or Electro DMG Goblet — the Lunar-Charged bonus he personally deals from Old World Secrets already scales off his ATK separately, so there's no EM main-stat case here the way there is for Lauma or Nefer on the Bloom side.
Constellations: C1 and C6 Are the Two That Matter
| Con. | Name | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| C1 | Part the Veil of Snow | Northland Spearstorm's cooldown drops to 4s; party Lunar-Charged triggers restore 8 Energy (once per 5.5s) |
| C2 | The Devil's Wall | Post-Spearstorm Normal Attacks add 50% ATK as Lunar-Charged DMG; at Ascendant Gleam, his Electro hits shred 25% Electro RES for 7s |
| C3 | Stranger in the Night | Burst +3 talent levels (max 15) |
| C4 | Night on Bald Mountain | ATK +20%; Whispering Flame upgraded to 10% ATK as EM (was 8%), capped 220 |
| C5 | Exile's Shadow | Skill +3 talent levels (max 15) |
| C6 | Songs and Dances of Death | Flins's own Lunar-Charged DMG elevated 35%; at Ascendant Gleam, all nearby party members' Lunar-Charged DMG elevated 10% |
C1 is the constellation that actually changes how he plays, not just how hard he hits — a 4-second Spearstorm cooldown lets you refresh the burst-discount window far more often, and the Energy restore on ally Lunar-Charged triggers helps feed his 80-Energy burst cost without leaning entirely on Energy Recharge gear. C6 is the ceiling: a 35 percent personal Lunar-Charged DMG elevation (calculated independently of other DMG bonuses, so it doesn't get diluted by anything else you're running) plus a team-wide 10 percent at Ascendant Gleam. C2, C3, C4 and C5 are incremental — worth having, not worth chasing on their own.
Team Comp: What Flins Actually Needs Around Him
Three requirements come straight out of the kit, not from outside opinion:
- A Hydro applier. Lunar-Charged only exists on top of Electro-Charged, and Electro-Charged needs a Wet aura on the target. Without a Hydro source in the party, Flins's Electro hits are just Electro hits.
- A second Moonsign character, if you want Ascendant Gleam. One Moonsign character (Flins alone) caps the party at Nascent Gleam. A second — any of Ineffa, Lauma, Nefer, Zibai, Linnea or Columbina — pushes the party to Ascendant Gleam, which is what turns on Flins's own Symphony of Winter passive (+20% Lunar-Charged DMG) and the extra hit on his burst and Northland Spearstorm.
- A fourth slot picked off the 36-percent buff table, not by habit. Per the Lunar Reactions guide, a non-Moonsign character's element decides how they contribute after Ascendant Gleam is active — Pyro/Electro/Cryo scale off ATK, Hydro off Max HP, Geo off DEF, Anemo/Dendro off EM. If your Hydro applier already leans into a big HP stat, they're doing double duty as a Lunar damage battery just by existing.
That's a four-person team shape — Flins, a Hydro applier, a second Moonsign enabler, and a flex slot chosen by the buff table — not a fixed list of named units, because which specific characters fill those roles depends on your roster and none of the alternatives change the underlying requirement.

Quick Action Checklist
- Rotation: Skill (transform) → Skill again (Northland Spearstorm) → Burst inside the 6-second discount window, ideally with a Lunar-Charged thundercloud already up.
- Level Burst first — it's roughly 737% ATK across its full sequence at level 10 versus 321% ATK for the upgraded Skill hit at the same level.
- Farm Nod-Krai, not Snezhnaya: Frostlamp Flower (4 named locations), Vajrada Amethyst gems, and Landcruiser Drive Shafts for ascension; Lightless Capital (Wed/Sat/Sun) for talent books.
- Ascended Sample: Queen, his weekly boss material, drops from the Ascended King / Sublimated Queen trounce domain.
- Bloodsoaked Ruins is close to best-in-slot by design; "The Catch" from the Inazuma Fishing Association is a genuinely strong free alternative because its Burst DMG/Burst CRIT Rate passive matches how burst-heavy his damage is.
- Run Night of the Sky's Unveiling, not the two off-field Lunar sets — his Elemental Skill requires staying on field, which forfeits most of what Aubade of Morningstar and Moon and Silken Moon's Serenade offer.
- C1 (4s Spearstorm cooldown, Energy on ally Lunar-Charged) is the constellation that changes his rotation; C6 (+35% personal Lunar-Charged DMG) is the damage ceiling.
- Team shape: Flins, a Hydro applier, a second Moonsign character for Ascendant Gleam, and a fourth slot chosen off the element-based buff table.
