Gundam Card Game Tokens - All 29, and What to Bring
The English card database holds 29 Unit tokens and 32 deck cards that make them, and Bandai's own Aquatic Assault build needs three token cards from a different starter deck. Here is every token, every card that makes one, the six-copy rule, what three Bandai documents say about substitutes, and where the database gets its own tokens wrong.

By Bandai's own billing, the first-ever Gundam Card Game serial card is a token. EXBP-028, a gold-lined Strike Freedom Gundam EX Base, is one of two cards that can come out of the 1st Anniversary Event Pack that stores are handing out until 31 October 2026, and Bandai's event page puts its odds at "a low probability". The other possible card is a promo ST04-012 Striker Pack, whose whole job is making tokens.
The English card database holds 29 different Unit tokens, 32 deck cards make them, and the rules on how many token cards you may bring - and what you may use when you run out - sit in three Bandai documents that do not say the same thing. Bandai's own build of Aquatic Assault [ST11] needs three token cards from a different starter deck and never makes the token the database files under the Aquatic Assault box. Here is every token, every card that makes one, and what to put in your deck box.
How I counted
On 10 October 2026 I pulled every Unit token, EX Base and EX Resource entry from Bandai's English card database and read each detail page. A freeword search for "token" across the deck-legal cards returns 44 card numbers, and I read all 44 to separate the cards that make a token from the ones that only mention one. The database's product filter says which box each token card comes from, and the product pages give the token-card count for each box.
Rules are from Comprehensive Rules Ver. 1.9.0 (11 September 2026), the Bandai Organized Play Tournament Rules Manual (last updated 10 July 2025) and the Sanctioned Tournament Floor Rules Ver. 1.1.0 (last edited 19 November 2025). Rulings are from the official FAQ, whose freeword search returns 20 answers for "token". I also checked Bandai's four September decklists, card by card, against the token makers.
All 29 Unit tokens, and what makes each one
Every Unit token has a T- number, and every card that makes one prints the token's name, trait, AP and HP inside its own text. The token card is the physical stand-in for that definition.

Three things in that table matter more than the rest.
Parts and Bit / Funnel are the most-made tokens, with four cards each. Daughtress is next at three.
Twelve of the 29 come from starter decks - ten from the four July 2025 launch decks, plus GOOhN and Bit / Funnel from the September wave. The other 17 come out of booster packs, so the token card for your Zeong or your Hashmal is a random pull, not something a box guarantees.
T-013 Hy-Gogg plays as (Cyclops Team), whatever the card says. Bandai corrected the token by errata on 30 January 2026, and its database entry still lists (Zeon) on 10 October. The errata guide covers what that changes.
Green makes the most, and twelve more cards care
Split the 32 token makers by colour and one colour stands out:
| Colour | Cards that make a Unit token | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Green | 15 | Qubeley, Zeong, Hy-Gogg, Gouf, Quiet Zero, Gundam Exia (EX) |
| Blue | 8 | White Base, Corsica Base, Victory Gundam Hexa, Hashmal, ZnO |
| Red | 4 | The three Daughtress Units, GFreD |
| White | 3 | Justice Gundam, Alvatore, Striker Pack |
| Purple | 2 | CGS Mobile Worker (Commander Type), Orga's Order |
By card type it is 19 Units, 6 Commands, 6 Bases and one Pilot, GD04-081 Üso Ewin.
The other 12 of the 44 "token" cards make nothing. They reward tokens, protect them or punish them:
| Card | What it does with tokens |
|---|---|
| GD02-046 Sayla's Light-Type Guncannon (red Unit) | 【Deploy】 deals 2 damage to an enemy Unit token |
| GD02-105 Valedictorian (green Command) | One of your Unit tokens can't receive battle damage from enemy Units during this battle |
| GD02-123 Sodon (green Base) | A friendly Unit token may attack an active enemy Unit with 5 or less AP this turn |
| GD03-045 Balient (red Unit) | AP+1 while you have a Unit token in play |
| GD03-107 Over the River and Through the Woods (green Command) | Deals damage equal to the number of friendly Unit tokens to an enemy Unit that is Lv.5 or lower |
| GD03-126 Cyclops Team (green Base) | All friendly Unit tokens get AP+1 during your opponent's turn |
| GD04-013 Core Fighter (blue Unit) | While it is rested, your (League Militaire) Unit tokens gain <Blocker> |
| GD04-022 Kikeroga (MS Mode) (GQ) (green Unit) | All your Unit tokens gain <Breach 1> |
| GD04-083 Marbet Fingerhat (blue Pilot) | All your (League Militaire) Unit tokens get AP+1 |
| GD05-084 Odelo Henrik (blue Pilot) | Enemy effect damage to your (League Militaire) Unit tokens is reduced by 1 |
| ST07-015 Ptolemaios (purple Base) | While a rested friendly (CB) Unit is in play, can't receive damage from enemy Units that are Lv.3 or lower, other than Unit tokens |
| ST13-010 Red Gundam (0079) (red Unit) | Destroy 1 friendly Unit token: gains <Breach 3> this turn |
Parts is the only token with dedicated support beyond its makers. Four cards make it, and the only three trait-specific cards in that table - Core Fighter, Marbet Fingerhat and Odelo Henrik - all target (League Militaire) Unit tokens, which in practice means Parts. And note Sayla's Light-Type Guncannon. Two damage kills any token with 2 HP or less, which is 23 of the 29.
If you are coming from Magic's token-heavy Commander builds, note the difference in kind: here every token is a numbered card with fixed stats, and the rules cap how many of each you may bring.
What the rules say a token is
Rule 5-17-1 defines a token as a card treated as a Unit, Base or Resource that an effect places on the field from outside the game. The FAQ (Q49) adds that the EX Base and EX Resource you start with are tokens too. From there:
- It is a real Unit for rules purposes (5-17-2-1). It counts toward your six-Unit limit (rule 4-5-4, ruling Q104). Deploy a token into a full battle area and you trash one of your Units first, then deploy the token - rulings Q117, Q137 and Q429 give that answer for Gouf, Justice Gundam and ZnO - and the trashed Unit is not destroyed (11-4-2-1).
- It has no colour, and its Lv. and cost are both zero (5-17-2-3 and 5-17-2-4, rulings Q101 and Q102). Lv. 0 puts every token inside any "Lv.3 or lower" check, and two cards carve tokens out of theirs by name. ST07-015 Ptolemaios can't receive damage from enemy Units that are Lv.3 or lower "other than Unit tokens" - Q204 confirms that covers <Breach> damage too - so against Ptolemaios a token still deals damage where a Lv.3 Unit cannot. GD04-022 Kikeroga's 【During Link】 makes Units that are Lv.3 or lower deploy rested, "other than Unit tokens".
- It can take a Pilot (5-17-2-2, ruling Q103), unless the token says it can't.
- It cannot attack the turn it arrives (rule 3-2-4) unless an effect says otherwise. GD01-066 Justice Gundam's 【During Pair】【Attack】 is one: it lets one of your (Triple Ship Alliance) Unit tokens attack on the turn it is deployed.
- It arrives active unless the text says rested (5-4-2). Thirteen of the 32 makers deploy their token rested, and Zeong rests its Head but not its Arms. White Base, Striker Pack, the four Parts makers and all four Bit / Funnel makers deploy theirs active.
- It does not stay in your trash. Any move to a place other than the battle area, resource area or shield area removes it from the game (5-17-2-5). It passes through first, so "when destroyed" and "when returned to your hand" triggers still fire (5-17-2-5-1). So a destroyed token is not left in your trash for effects that count cards there, and the FAQ's exile rulings say the removal area holds exiled cards "not including tokens". A removed token goes back outside the game (5-17-4), ready to be used again.
The rulings guide covers the FAQ more broadly.
Four tokens with strings attached
![The official Gundam Card Game Unit token T-014 Ad Balloon from Steel Requiem [GD03]: an inflatable Santa Claus advertising balloon with a sack over its shoulder, standing in front of dark pine trees under a blue sky, with the line This Unit can't be set as active or paired with a Pilot, the Civilian trait, and 0 AP and 1 HP along the bottom, under a SAMPLE watermark.](/images/blog/gundam-tcg/gundam-card-game-tokens-guide/gundam-t-014-ad-balloon-token-card.webp)
Most tokens are plain bodies. Four print a restriction, and each one changes how the token plays.
T-014 Ad Balloon can't be set as active or paired with a Pilot. GD03-020 Zaku II FZ deploys two of them rested when it is paired with 4 or more (Cyclops Team) cards in your trash, and while you have one in play, Zaku II FZ can't receive enemy battle damage. The catch is in the restriction. A balloon that can never stand up is a rested enemy Unit for its whole life, and rule 8-2-1 makes any rested enemy Unit a legal attack target. Your opponent does not need to get through Zaku II FZ. They attack the balloons, each with 1 HP, one at a time.
T-021 Parts can't choose the enemy player as its attack target, so it can only attack enemy Units - rested ones, or an active one with 5 or less AP on a turn GD02-123 Sodon picks it.
T-022 Wire-Guided Arm can't be paired with a Pilot. GD04-017 Zeong deploys two when it is paired with a (Newtype) Pilot, and the World Championships guide shows how Bandai turned that Zeong board into its Season 2 prize ladder.
T-029 Bit / Funnel, the card at the top of this page, can't be paired with a Pilot or attack, and with no <Blocker> it can't block either - Bandai's own Bit / Funnel deck notes say the same. None of its four makers deploys it rested, and rule 8-2-1 lets your opponent attack only rested Units unless a card says otherwise. So a Bit / Funnel is out of reach of ordinary attacks until something rests it. The exceptions are cards that let an attacker pick an active Unit with 5 or less AP - GD02-123 Sodon for one Unit token, GD03-017 Kämpfer for (Cyclops Team) Units - and a 2 AP Bit / Funnel qualifies. In Bandai's ST13 list, ST13-006 Gundam Aerial's 【Activate・Action】 rests a friendly Unit as its cost, and GD01-112 Extreme Hatred rests two of yours. Bandai's notes suggest firing Aerial in your opponent's end phase. A Unit rested then is set active again in your start phase (7-2-3-1), before your opponent can attack again.
What Bit / Funnels are for is damage that never needs them to attack. Qubeley's 【Activate・Main】 starts a damage-step-only battle between one of your Unit tokens and an enemy Unit. Red Gundam (0079) destroys one to gain <Breach 3>. And GD03-107 Over the River and Through the Woods counts them: three friendly Unit tokens means 3 damage (ruling Q246).
Bandai's own September decks, token by token

Bandai posted a 50-card build for each September starter on its DECKS page, and the decklist breakdown covers what each one keeps and imports. Read the same four lists for tokens and the box contents stop matching:
| Bandai list | Token makers in the 50 | Token cards you need | Where those come from |
|---|---|---|---|
| ST11 Marine | 4 ST01-015 White Base | T-001 Gundam, T-002 Guncannon, T-003 Guntank | Heroic Beginnings [ST01] |
| ST12 Close Combat | None | Only the EX Base and EX Resource | - |
| ST13 Bit / Funnel | 4 Qubeley, 4 Elmeth, 4 GD05-126 Quiet Zero | T-029 Bit / Funnel and T-026 Gundnode | Silent Barrage [ST13] and Freedom Ascension [GD05] boosters |
| ST14 Heavy Armed | 4 GD01-107 First Contact, 3 ST14-009 Duel Gundam (Assault Shroud) | Extra EX Resources | Any EX Resource printing |
ST11 Marine cuts ST11-004 ZnO, the only card that makes the GOOhN token, and runs four White Base instead. White Base's 【Activate・Main】【Once per Turn】 costs ② and deploys a Gundam token (3 AP, 3 HP) if you have no Units in play, a Guncannon (2 / 2) if you have exactly one, or a Guntank (1 / 1) if you have two or more. All three token cards ship in Heroic Beginnings, a July 2025 starter.
ST13 Bit / Funnel keeps both Bit / Funnel makers that are Units and swaps the box's own Base, ST13-016 Sodon, for GD05-126 Quiet Zero. Quiet Zero's 【Activate・Main】【Once per Turn】 costs ② and deploys a Gundnode token while you have a Lv.5 or higher "Gundam Aerial" Unit in play. The list runs four ST13-006 Gundam Aerial, a Lv.6 card. Gundnode is T-026, a Freedom Ascension booster card, so Bandai's ST13 build needs a token the ST13 box is not filed with. The box lists four token cards in all, and Bandai does not say how many of them are Bit / Funnels.
ST14 Heavy Armed makes no Unit tokens, but GD01-107 First Contact's 【Burst】 and ST14-009 Duel Gundam (Assault Shroud)'s 【Destroyed】 each place an EX Resource, so pack more than the one EX Resource Player Two starts with. Rule 4-4-2-1 caps EX Resources at five in your resource area.
Six copies is the cap, and all you can use
Rule 6-1-2 has each player prepare one EX Base and one EX Resource token card, and 6-1-2-1 tells you to have every other token card you intend to use at hand. Section 2.4 of the Tournament Rules Manual makes it a deck requirement: "All tokens required for gameplay of registered deck."
The ceiling is rule 5-17-4-1: when preparing to play, you must have six or fewer copies of tokens with the same card number. That rule arrived in Ver. 1.5.0, which the current rulebook's changelog dates 9 January 2026; the 1.5.0 PDF's own changelog said 30 January.
Six lines up with the board. You can have at most six Units in your battle area (4-5-4), or six per team in Team Battle (12-3-14), and a token that leaves play goes back outside the game for reuse. So six copies of one token number is both the most you may bring and the most you could ever have on the table at once.
The rest of 5-17-4 covers handling. Token cards wait face down outside the game (the FAQ's Q7 says to keep them together outside the playing area). How many you have set aside is public, and either player may confirm it. Which ones they are is private. You may set aside token cards you never use, so one token stack can cover more than one deck, within the six-copy cap.
Substitutes, proxies and three documents
This is where Bandai's paperwork splits three ways:
| Comprehensive Rules Ver. 1.9.0 (11 Sep 2026) | Tournament Rules Manual (10 Jul 2025) | Sanctioned Tournament Floor Rules Ver. 1.1.0 (19 Nov 2025) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| How many you may prepare | Six or fewer per card number (5-17-4-1) | Every token your registered deck needs | "As many token cards as you like" |
| What counts as a token card | Not addressed | "All officially distributed" token cards, in any language | Any card the size of an official card that can show active or rested; proxies are banned except for token cards |
| Running out mid-game | Not addressed | A rectangular, card-sized substitute that shows active and rested, with opponent verification | Any card-like object that shows active and rested, if both players agree |
| Saying which token is which | Not addressed | Not required | Not required |
| Sleeves | Not addressed | Tokens must be sleeved differently from the main deck: clear, another colour, or unsleeved | Opaque, clear or none; if opaque, all tokens in matching sleeves that differ from both decks |
Two conflicts are real. The floor rules' "as many as you like" was last edited on 19 November 2025, before Ver. 1.5.0 added the six-copy cap to the Comprehensive Rules. And the floor rules let any card-sized card stand in for a token from the start, while the manual names officially distributed token cards and allows substitutes only once you run out mid-game.
The floor rules settle their own scope: they cover sanctioned tournaments, and an event's own regulations win any conflict with them. A kit that satisfies all three documents: official token cards, no more than six of any number, all sleeved alike and in a way that cannot be mistaken for your main deck or resource deck. Ask the head judge before you rely on a proxy. The floor rules also allow a plastic top loader on your EX Base, as long as its sleeve matches your other tokens.
GUNDAM ASSEMBLE miniatures may sit on top of a token card at events but never replace one, and individual stores or events may prohibit them. The tournament rules guide has that rule and the rest of the sleeve rules.
Where the token cards come from
| Product | Token cards on the box | Unit tokens the database files under it |
|---|---|---|
| ST01-ST04 (July 2025) | 8 each | ST01: T-001 to T-003. ST02: T-004, T-005. ST03: T-006, T-007. ST04: T-008 to T-010 |
| ST05-ST10 (September 2025 to June 2026) | 2 each | None |
| Aquatic Assault [ST11] | 4 | T-028 GOOhN |
| Raging Onslaught [ST12], Heavy Dominion [ST14] | 2 each | None |
| Silent Barrage [ST13] | 4 | T-029 Bit / Funnel |

None of the fourteen starter-deck product pages says which token cards are in the box.
Past the boxes there are four other routes, all collector printings of the same numbers:
- Edition Beta (December 2024) printed T-001, T-002, T-003 and T-006.
- The two Premium Card Collection GUNDAM ASSEMBLE Sets ($39.99 each, 27 February 2026) carry their own printings of the tokens whose miniatures they include: T-015 to T-017 in the IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS set [PC01A], T-018 to T-020 in the GQuuuuuuX set [PC02A]. The two product pages label the miniatures "T-011" to "T-013" and "T-014" to "T-016". Those are the token numbers of six different cards; the miniatures themselves are TP-011 to TP-016. Both pages also describe GUNDAM ASSEMBLE as "a miniature game" in its own right.
- Prizes. The database lists four more Wire-Guided Arm printings - two as Store Championships 26-27 Season 2 cards (that season runs 1-30 November 2026) and two as World Championships 26-27 Season 2 upper-rank prizes - plus a Season 2 winner's Zeong (Head).
- Store Tournament packs. Two more Bit / Funnel printings are filed as Store Tournament Participant Pack 06 and Winner Pack 06 cards. As of 10 October, the English (US) events page lists no store tournament that hands those packs out.
Stardust Trails [GD06] releases 30 October 2026, and its product page lists 8 tokens among its 135 + 8 card types. None of them is in the English database yet.
Where the database lets you down

Use the database for token lookups, but check the card image against the text fields. Four things are off as of 10 October 2026.
The Unit Token filter misses two entries. Filter the card search by Unit Token and you get 44 entries covering 28 of the 29 numbers. T-025 Gundam Exia and the original Silent Barrage printing of T-029 Bit / Funnel have their type entered as "UNIT・TOKEN" and drop out; the only Bit / Funnels the filter shows are the two Store Tournament printings. Search by product or by card number instead.
The Edition Beta tokens list stats that are not on the cards. The Guncannon above is the Edition Beta printing, and it prints 2 AP and 2 HP, like the ST01 version and like White Base's own text. Its database entry says 3 and 3:
| Entry | Database text fields | Printed on the card |
|---|---|---|
| T-001 Gundam, Edition Beta | AP -, HP - | 3 / 3 |
| T-002 Guncannon, Edition Beta | 3 / 3 | 2 / 2 |
| T-003 Guntank, Edition Beta | 2 / 2 | 1 / 1 |
| T-006 Char's Zaku II, Edition Beta | 1 / 1 | 3 / 1 |
The card images are right, and they match the text of the cards that make the tokens.
Two tokens show a dash for AP but print a 0. The database's AP field for T-012 Daughtress and T-014 Ad Balloon reads "-". Both cards print 0, which is what their makers' text says.
Daughtress has no listed source. T-012's "Where to get it" field and block mark are blank, though the card prints block 1 and the product filter files it under Dual Impact [GD02].
EX Bases and EX Resources

The two tokens every game uses have the plainest rules. An EX Base is a Base token with 0 AP and 3 HP that both players start with (5-17-3-1). An EX Resource is a Resource token that Player Two starts with, and it is removed from the game when you spend it (5-17-3-2). The rules walkthrough covers how each one shapes the opening turns.
Most of them are promos. The English database holds 30 EX Base card numbers, 27 of them EXBP promos, and 29 EX Resource card numbers, 18 of them EXRP promos:
| Family | Printings | Where they come from |
|---|---|---|
| EXB-001 / EXR-001 | 3 each | Edition Beta; booster packs ("Included in Booster Packs"); Deck Build Box [SC01] |
| EXB-002 / EXR-002 | 2 each | Destiny Ignition [ST09], one of them an alternate art |
| EXB-003 / EXR-003 | 1 each | Generation Pulse [ST10] |
| EXR-004 to EXR-011 | 8 | SP versions in Freedom Ascension [GD05] |
| EXBP promos | 27 | 16 from events (including five from the Starter Deck Battle Event), 5 from the SD Gundam G Generation ETERNAL Collaboration Pack, 6 from products such as SC01, Special Booster Bundle 01 and the 1st Anniversary Set |
| EXRP promos | 18 | 10 from the bonus packs in the two GUNDAM ASSEMBLE sets, 4 from events, 4 from products |
EXBP-028, above, is the serial card from the start of this page. Every participant in the 1st Anniversary Event, which runs at stores from 12 September to 31 October 2026, receives one 1st Anniversary Event Pack, and each pack holds one card: the ST04-012 Striker Pack promo or the EXBP-028 serial. The rarity guide covers where these promos sit in the P rarity.
What this does not settle
- What is in each box. Bandai lists a token-card count for every starter but never which tokens, or how many of each.
- Which document governs your event. The floor rules defer to an event's own regulations; check the event page or ask the head judge before relying on a proxy or bringing more than six of a number.
- Stardust Trails. Its product page lists 8 token card types for its 30 October 2026 release, and Bandai has not said which, so the counts here may change.
- Fixes. Bandai has not said when the database's Edition Beta stats, its type labels or the Hy-Gogg trait will be corrected.
- Other regions. This is the English (US) database. Some promo numbers (EXBP-012 to EXBP-018, EXBP-033, EXRP-016 and EXRP-018) return nothing there, and I did not check the Japanese or Asian sites for them.
- Anything after 10 October 2026.
For how the six-Unit cap and the word "friendly" work in Team Battle, see the multiplayer rules guide.

Gundam Card Game Bases - All 68 Counted, and Which to Run
Every Base card in the Gundam Card Game opens with the same two lines. Not most of them - all 68, across five colours and sixteen products, with zero exceptions. That template is why the Base slot is not the throwaway it looks like, and the whole type tops out at Rare - no Base has ever been printed above it. I pulled all 68 out of the official database and cross-referenced them against 41 decklists Bandai published itself.

Gundam Card Game Space and Earth Zones Do Nothing
628 of the 1,078 cards in the Gundam Card Game database print a Zone field reading Space, Earth or both - and not one card in the game refers to it. The Comprehensive Rules give zones two lines and never name the values. The FAQ has no Zone category and no ruling that mentions one. So I counted the whole field anyway: the Unit split, the Base split that inverts it, the trait pattern that explains both, and why the first booster printed 43% of the game's Earth-only Units.

Gundam Card Game Link Units - Every Pilot Pairing, Counted
The link box on GD05-026 Gundam Aerial Rebuild reads [Prospera Mercury] / [Ericht Samaya]. Search the official card database for anything that answers to Ericht Samaya - a Pilot, a Command with a Pilot effect, anything - and you get nothing. Out of 173 distinct link requirements in the game, it is the only one no card can satisfy. I pulled every one of the 892 cards in the official database and mapped the whole link web: which characters have the deepest benches, which Units accept two names, which 35 characters exist only as Commands, and which single Pilot card links with 26 different Units.

Gundam Card Game Colours - I Counted All 892 Cards, and Bandai Has a Colour Pie It Never Published
Thirty-one of the 37 cards whose text carries <Repair> are blue. Twelve of the 14 that carry <Support> are red. Twenty-five of the 52 cards in the game that reach into your own trash are purple - a colour that is only 15% of the card pool. Bandai has never published a colour-identity document for the Gundam Card Game, so I pulled every one of the 892 cards out of the official database and counted. The pie is real, it is sharp, and it decides which two colours you should actually be pairing.

How to Play the Gundam Card Game - Resources, Shields, Pilots, and the Six-Card Life Total
Your entire life total in the Gundam Card Game is six face-down cards with 1 HP each, plus a token base with 3 HP. This is the complete rules walkthrough - the separate resource deck, the Level and Cost split, setup, the five card types, pairing Pilots into Link Units, the five phases, and combat - checked line by line against Bandai's Comprehensive Rules Ver. 1.8.0.

Gundam Card Game Commands - All 145, and When to Play Them
Comprehensive Rules 9-2 makes Command the only card type in the Gundam Card Game you can play out of your hand on someone else's turn, and whether a given Command can is written on one line of the card: 84 of the 145 Commands in the game carry an Action effect, which Bandai's own FAQ says can be played during your action steps or your opponent's. I read the timing line off all 145 of them, then counted what Bandai actually puts in its own 41 decklists - and 15 of those lists run none of it at all.
