Pokopia Halloween Event: Pumpkaboo's Sweet Surprises Guide
Pokopia's first Halloween event adds Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist from October 17 to November 1, 2026, and it has a gate the Feebas event did not: you need Camouflage from Zorua. Here is the confirmed schedule, the checklist to clear before it opens, and what is still unannounced.

Pokopia's Halloween event closes on the morning of November 1, which makes Halloween night itself the last evening you can play it. The bigger catch comes earlier: this event runs on Camouflage, the Zorua move our Ditto transformations guide filed under "party trick." If you never did Zorua's request in Bleak Beach, you cannot earn the event currency until you do.
The Pokemon Company announced Pumpkaboo's Sweet Surprises on September 30, 2026, in an English post on Pokemon.com and a longer notice on the Japanese official site. It adds Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist, runs on a trick-for-treats loop, and pays out in Halloween furniture. The event has not started, so nothing below is a report on how it plays. It is what is confirmed, what to finish before October 17, and what is still blank.
The dates, and the one that matters
| Local time (your Switch 2 clock) | |
|---|---|
| Opens | Saturday, October 17, 2026, 5:00 a.m. |
| Closes | Sunday, November 1, 2026, 4:59 a.m. |
| Last full evening | Saturday, October 31 |
| Calendar dates touched | 16 |
Both official posts give the same window. The 4:59 a.m. close is the same one the Feebas event and the September Jump Rope rerun used: the event ends before dawn on its final listed date, so only the small hours of November 1 fall inside the window.
Sixteen dates is the number worth noticing. Our events guide worked out that all four of Pokopia's gathering events (Hoppip, Sableye, Jirachi, Feebas) ran sixteen-date windows and added Pokemon, while the contests ran about half that and added none. Pumpkaboo's window is sixteen dates and it adds two Pokemon, so the rule of thumb holds for the first new gathering event since we wrote it down. Serebii's placeholder page counts this as the fifth big Pokopia event, which lines up with those four.
What to have done before October 17
Pokemon.com covers the basics. The full start conditions come from the notice on the Japanese official site, which follows the same checklist Nintendo published in English for the Feebas event in August, item for item, with one addition.
| Requirement | Where it is stated | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Game on Ver. 2.0.1 | Japanese official notice | The September hotfix. The Jump Rope rerun needed the same version, so if you played that, you are set |
| A town's important requests cleared and its Pokemon Center rebuilt | Japanese notice; Pokemon.com says Pumpkaboo waits "near rebuilt Pokemon Centers" | The same gate the Feebas event had |
| Camouflage learned from Zorua in Bleak Beach | Both official posts | The addition. Nintendo's Feebas page listed no move requirement |
| Switch 2 date and time set to the real world | Japanese notice | Outside the window the event does not appear |
| Online the first time you play it | Japanese notice | The title screen should show Ver. 2.0.1 |
If you do not have Camouflage yet, it is a short job. Game8 says Zorua is hiding as an oddly placed square tile right by the Bleak Beach Pokemon Center. Punch it with Rock Smash, which Serebii's move list says you get by befriending Hitmonchan, and Zorua drops the disguise and gives you a request, Show Off Some Toy Blocks. Serebii's crafting table lists the Toy blocks recipe as coming from Zorua itself, at a cost of 1 Lumber. Craft them, hand them over, and Game8 says Zorua teaches Camouflage.
Do it before the 17th. The Japanese notice, like Nintendo's Feebas page before it, says that if you meet the start conditions while the event is already running, you have to move to another town once or Save & Quit from the main menu before the event triggers. It is a quick fix, but only if you know about it.
How the candy loop works
The Japanese notice lays out four steps, and the Pokemon.com post matches them:
- Talk to Pumpkaboo near the Pokemon Center and help with its request to befriend it.
- Collect Pumpkin Candy. Use Camouflage to turn into furniture a Pokemon likes, wait for it to come over, then surprise it. Pokemon.com's version is to "camouflage yourself as objects and surprise unsuspecting Pokemon." Pull it off and you receive Pumpkin Candy.
- Trade the candy at the Pokemon Center for event furniture and decorations.
- Build a habitat from those items to befriend Gourgeist.

The detail that shapes your prep is how Camouflage works. Serebii's move table describes it as "Turn into the object in front of you," and Game8 says you shapeshift into the item directly in front of you. So the disguise has to be something already placed in front of you, not something sitting in your bag, unless the event changes how the move works, which neither official post suggests. The Japanese notice is specific that the disguise should be furniture a Pokemon likes, which puts the favourites system to work. Our friendship guide covers how favourites work and where to read a Pokemon's list.
Our read, not a published rule: before October 17, put a few pieces of furniture near your Pokemon Center that match the favourites of the Pokemon who spend time there. Neither official post says how much candy one scare pays, whether there is a daily cap, or whether the same Pokemon can be tricked twice. That will be known on the 17th, not before.
What the candy buys, and how Gourgeist moves in
Pumpkin Candy is spent at the Pokemon Center. Pokemon.com calls the rewards "event-themed furniture and decorations," and the Japanese notice says they are themed on a midnight festival. Neither post names the items or prices them.

The official shop screenshot is the best look so far. Pumpkaboo is behind the register with nine items on display stands: a Pikachu-eared pumpkin candy basket, a gnarled tree with a small jack-o'-lantern at its base, a blue sarcophagus-style cabinet, a stone statue of ghost Pokemon, a large jack-o'-lantern on a stump, a smaller Pikachu-eared jack-o'-lantern stack, a bunch of balloons topped by a Pikachu in a witch hat, and two smaller pieces we cannot identify from the shot. Siliconera also reports nine new decorations. Treat nine as likely but unconfirmed until the shop opens.
For scale only: one of each of the Feebas event's six rewards cost 60 Prism Scales on Serebii's exchange table, as our events guide lays out. Pumpkin Candy prices have not been published, so do not budget off that number.

Gourgeist comes from a habitat, not straight from the shop. Both official posts say to build a habitat from the exchanged items that appeals to it, and you can then befriend it. Pokemon.com is explicit that "Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist will stick around town" after the event ends, so this is permanent, the same as Feebas and Milotic in August. Our habitat and comfort guide covers how a furniture set turns into a Pokemon moving in.
Neither Pokemon is on Pokopia's roster yet, going by Serebii. Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist do not appear in Serebii's base-game Pokedex or its Bubbly Basin dex, and Serebii's separate event Pokedex still runs seven entries, Hoppip through Milotic. Neither official post nor Serebii lists their specialties yet.

Where it will not run
The Japanese notice has the fine print, and it matches the Feebas rules line for line:
- Not on Cloud Islands, and not in Bubbly Basin. The paid DLC town is out again, as it was for Feebas.
- Multiplayer is Palette Town only, and the event cannot be played in Spectator Mode.
- Talk to Pumpkaboo and hear the event details before you start Link Play in Palette Town.
Do not carry over habits from September. The Japanese notice for the Jump Rope rerun said that contest also ran on Cloud Islands and could be joined in Spectator Mode. This event allows neither. Nintendo's multiplayer explainer says the Pokemon Center PC in Palette Town is where you switch Spectator Mode off, and our multiplayer guide covers what changes when you do.
Pumpkaboo vs Feebas, side by side
The skeleton is August's event with the currency swapped out. Feebas details are from Nintendo's Feebas event page; Pumpkaboo details are from Pokemon.com and the Japanese notice.
| Fetching Scales for Feebas | Pumpkaboo's Sweet Surprises | |
|---|---|---|
| Window | Aug 13-28, 2026 (16 dates) | Oct 17-Nov 1, 2026 (16 dates) |
| Required version | Ver. 2.0.0 | Ver. 2.0.1 |
| Currency | Prism Scales | Pumpkin Candy |
| How you earn it | Pick it up on Dream Islands, reached via Drifloon and a doll | Scare Pokemon while disguised with Camouflage |
| Stated start gate beyond the Pokemon Center | None | Camouflage from Zorua |
| New Pokemon | Feebas, Milotic | Pumpkaboo, Gourgeist |
| Cloud Islands / Bubbly Basin | No / No | No / No |
| Pokemon stay after the event | Yes | Yes |
The how-you-earn-it row is the real change. You earned Feebas's scales by walking a Dream Island and picking them up. Pumpkin Candy comes from a hide-and-pounce minigame, and that is what the move gate is for.
Confirmed vs not confirmed
Confirmed by The Pokemon Company (Pokemon.com and the Japanese official site):
- Pumpkaboo's Sweet Surprises runs October 17, 2026, 5:00 a.m. to November 1, 2026, 4:59 a.m., local time.
- Pumpkaboo waits near rebuilt Pokemon Centers; befriend it to start collecting.
- Camouflage from Zorua in Bleak Beach is required; surprising Pokemon while disguised earns Pumpkin Candy.
- Candy is exchanged at the Pokemon Center for event furniture and decorations, which you use to build a habitat for Gourgeist.
- Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist stay after the event ends.
- Ver. 2.0.1, a real-time clock and an online first launch are required. The event does not run on Cloud Islands or in Bubbly Basin, and multiplayer is Palette Town only, outside Spectator Mode.
Reported, not official:
- Nine new decorations (Siliconera), matching the nine display stands in the official shop screenshot.
- Serebii's placeholder page describes the currency as "Pumpkins." Both official posts call it pumpkin candy.
Not published yet:
- Item names and candy prices.
- Candy earned per scare, and any daily cap.
- How many new habitats the event adds; the official copy mentions only Gourgeist's.
- Pumpkaboo's and Gourgeist's specialties.
Quick Action Checklist
- Update to Ver. 2.0.1 if you are not already on it.
- Rebuild a Pokemon Center in at least one town. Pumpkaboo waits near rebuilt ones.
- Get Camouflage now: Rock Smash the odd square tile by the Bleak Beach Pokemon Center, craft Toy blocks (1 Lumber), deliver them to Zorua.
- Set your Switch 2 clock to real time and launch online once during the window.
- Our read, not an official rule: place some furniture your local Pokemon like before the 17th. Camouflage copies the object in front of you, so the disguise has to be something already placed.
- Co-op goes in Palette Town with Spectator Mode off, and talk to Pumpkaboo before you start Link Play.
- Your last evening is Saturday, October 31. The event closes at 4:59 a.m. on November 1.
