Fortnite Crew Guide: What You Get and Is It Worth It

Fortnite Crew got quietly worse in June 2026 — the monthly V-Bucks dropped from 1,000 to 800 at the same $11.99 — and the math still leans in its favor, because it bundles five passes and a skin you cannot buy any other way. Here's the full contents list and the honest math.

On June 6, 2026, Fortnite Crew got measurably worse: the monthly V-Bucks grant dropped from 1,000 to 800, with no change to the $11.99 price. That is the kind of quiet nerf that usually means "cancel it" — and yet the arithmetic on Crew still holds up, because since December 2024 it has included every seasonal pass in the ecosystem at once. Whether it is strong for you depends entirely on how many of Fortnite's games you actually play.

Our V-Bucks and Item Shop guide maps the currency itself; this is the deep dive on the subscription — exactly what is in the box, what changed in 2026, the cancellation rules that decide whether your rewards outlive the subscription, and the per-mode math for whether $11.99 a month beats buying things one at a time.

What Fortnite Crew is

Fortnite Crew is Epic's monthly subscription, running since December 2, 2020, when it launched alongside Chapter 2 Season 5. It costs $11.99 a month (the US price on Epic's Crew page), and that price did not move when the V-Bucks grant shrank in June 2026.

The pitch has changed shape twice. At launch it was a skin-plus-V-Bucks bundle with the Battle Pass attached. In April 2023 Epic bolted on Rocket League's premium Rocket Pass. Then in December 2024 it became the everything-subscription: the OG Pass, Music Pass, and LEGO Pass all joined, so one Crew membership now covers every seasonal pass in the game — Battle Royale, Fortnite OG, Festival, and LEGO Fortnite — plus a different game entirely.

The same December 2024 change also rewired how the passes behave for subscribers. That rewiring gets its own section below, because it determines what you keep when you cancel.

Everything included: the full list

An outfit from a past Fortnite Crew Pack (August 2026): each month's pack is built around one Crew Series outfit.

Here is what a Crew month contained in late October 2026, next to what each piece costs if you buy it separately. Treasure Hunters began on November 1, 2026, so the passes marked as ending October 31 or November 1 have been replaced or are being replaced by their successors; the right-hand column is the late-October snapshot, not today's set:

LEGO Pass1,200 V-BucksSoaring Skies (from Apr 16; the Fortnite Wiki's listing gives a Sep 2 end, and later extensions are not confirmed by a source we could check)
Rocket Pass Premium in Rocket League1,000 Credits in Rocket League, a separate gameRocket League Season 24 (since Sep 23)

Where those dates come from: Epic's Battle Pass page said the Override pass "Ends November 1, 2026 Eastern Time" (the in-game Passes tab listed it through October 31). Epic's own posts announced OG Season X on September 3, the Neon Dreams Music Pass for July 30 and the Soaring Skies LEGO Pass in April, but the OG and Music end dates come from the Fortnite Wiki rather than an Epic announcement. The wiki's LEGO Pass page lists Soaring Skies as ending September 2, and we could not confirm any later end date, so treat the LEGO Pass end as unknown. The Battle Pass and Music Pass rows were scheduled to end on October 31 or November 1. Epic's Treasure Hunters announcement (October 30) features a new Battle Pass with Portgas D. Ace and Nico Robin, and neither it nor the v43.00 notes (November 1) states the pass's price, whether Crew includes it, or how the other passes roll over, so check the in-game Passes tab for the current set and prices rather than assuming the table above still applies.

Two line items deserve a closer look:

  • The Crew Pack is the only thing here money cannot otherwise buy. Crew Packs and their contents are subscriber-exclusive — per Epic's own Crew FAQ, "They will never be sold or given away to non-subscribers." Epic says past packs' items may be made available again later, but only to subscribers. If you collect skins, that exclusivity is the real product.
  • The four Fortnite passes total 4,000 V-Bucks bought separately. That is the number doing the heavy lifting in the "is Crew worth it" argument, and it comes with an asterisk the size of the next two sections.

One clarification worth making because the names collide: the included Rocket Pass belongs to Rocket League, the standalone Psyonix game — not Rocket Racing, the Fortnite racing mode Epic removed on October 1, 2026. Rocket Pass Premium stayed in Crew after that removal (the October 2026 Crew Pack still includes the current Rocket Pass), and Epic ties it to the current Rocket League season. Our removed modes guide covers the Rocket Racing story.

The June 2026 downgrade

The V-Bucks cut did not happen in isolation. It was the second half of a repricing that started on March 19, 2026, when Epic raised the real-money price of V-Bucks — the $8.99 pack went from 1,000 V-Bucks to 800 — citing the increased cost of running Fortnite. The same day, the Battle Pass dropped from 1,000 V-Bucks to 800, and its total V-Bucks reward was cut from 1,500 to 800.

Then, for any Crew subscription renewing on or after June 6, 2026, the monthly grant was cut to the same 800 figure. Epic emailed subscribers about the change in early April; the subscription price itself stayed at $11.99.

The knock-on effect matters more than either number alone: the Battle Pass no longer pays you a profit. For years the completed pass returned more V-Bucks than it cost, which made "buy it once, roll the earnings forward" the standard free-to-play advice — advice we gave in our own V-Bucks guide. Since Chapter 7 Season 2, a completed pass returns 800 V-Bucks against an 800 V-Bucks price: it breaks even, funding the next season's pass and nothing more. The OG Pass returns no V-Bucks at all. The era of playing the pass for spending money is over.

When rewards actually arrive

The Fortnite Battle Pass shown as included content on the Crew overview screen.

Crew's rewards land on four different clocks, not one monthly drop:

  • On purchase: your first 800 V-Bucks arrive immediately.
  • On your renewal date: each later 800 V-Bucks grant lands when your billing cycle renews — not when a new month starts, and not when a new season starts.
  • At month's end: Epic's support pages say a new Crew Pack arrives at approximately 8 PM EDT / 7 PM EST on the last day of each month, whatever your billing date. That is the evening before the pack's own month begins: Epic released the October 2023 pack on September 30 at 8 PM ET.
  • On season change: the new Battle Pass, OG Pass, Music Pass, LEGO Pass, and Rocket Pass each unlock for you as their seasons roll over, whenever that falls in your billing cycle.

The Crew Pack is the only piece on a calendar-month cycle. The seasonal passes run on their own calendars, and as the table above shows, those calendars disagree with each other by months. A single Crew month always contains all the current passes, but which seasons those are depends on when you subscribe.

The cancellation fine print

This is the part to read before subscribing, because Epic changed the rules on December 1, 2024, and what was true before that date no longer applies to anyone who subscribed after it.

  • Pass premium rewards now require an active subscription. For anyone who subscribed from December 1, 2024 onward, the premium reward tracks Crew grants — Battle Pass, OG Pass, Music Pass, LEGO Pass — unlock and claim only while the subscription is live. Cancel, and you can keep unlocking and claiming until your current billing period ends; after that, the levels you earn stop unlocking premium rewards for the rest of the season, even though the pass is still running.
  • What you have already claimed is yours. Lapsing stops you from unlocking new premium rewards; it does not reach into your locker. Premium rewards you unlocked while subscribed but never claimed are not lost either: Epic's Crew FAQ says unlocked items you have yet to claim are auto-claimed for you when the Pass expires, even if you are no longer subscribed by then. Each pass expires on its own date, so the OG Pass's rewards auto-claim when it ends, not when the Battle Royale season does.
  • Subscribers from before December 1, 2024 are grandfathered for the Battle Pass only. They can keep unlocking and claiming Battle Pass premium rewards for as long as the pass is live, even after unsubscribing, but their OG, LEGO and Music Pass premium rewards need an active subscription like everyone else's. Cancel after December 1, 2024 and resubscribe once the old subscription has lapsed, and Epic treats you as a new subscriber under the new rules.
  • Rocket Pass Premium works differently. Epic says you keep access to it for as long as that Rocket Pass is live, even if you cancel Crew partway through the Rocket League season.
  • Buying a pass with V-Bucks is still permanent. A pass you purchase separately keeps its premium track claimable for the whole season, subscription or no subscription. That asymmetry is the honest argument for buying the one pass you care about instead of subscribing.
  • The 14-day conversion rule. If you buy a pass with V-Bucks and then subscribe to Crew within 14 days, Epic automatically gives back the V-Bucks you paid as a one-time grant — and converts that pass to the subscription-locked kind. Subscribe more than 14 days after buying, and there is no grant, but the pass stays independently yours.

The practical read: Crew is a rental on the passes and a purchase of the Crew Pack and V-Bucks. If you plan to finish a Crew-granted Fortnite pass after unsubscribing, that plan stopped working in December 2024, unless you are a pre-December 2024 subscriber finishing the Battle Pass. Rocket Pass Premium is the other holdout: it stays active until that Rocket League season's pass ends.

Crew Legacy Styles: the loyalty track

Fortnite Crew promotional art: a collage of outfits and pass reward tiles.

Starting with the October 2023 Crew Pack (Chapter 4 Season 4), Crew Pack outfits come with five Crew Legacy Styles: recolors and variants that unlock for continuing to subscribe after you receive the pack. Epic only guarantees them for the outfit, though the October 2023 pack extended them to its back bling, and the Fortnite Wiki's records show later packs' back blings and pickaxes typically getting matching styles too:

Months subscribed after receiving the packStyle unlocked
1A style specific to that Crew Pack
2Auric Legacy
3Phase Legacy
4Rimebound Legacy
5Cosmic Legacy

It is a straightforward retention mechanic: the outfit you already own keeps sprouting variants for five more billing cycles. Whether that moves you depends on how much you like the outfit, but it does mean a Crew Pack is not "complete" the month you get it — subscribe-one-month dippers leave five styles per pack on the table. Epic classes Legacy Styles as a Bonus Benefit it can change or discontinue; if you cancel, you keep the styles already unlocked, and progress resumes when you resubscribe.

Crew comes with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

Since November 18, 2025, Fortnite Crew is included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. If you already pay for Ultimate — for Game Pass's own catalog, on console or PC — you have Crew already, and paying Epic separately for it is throwing money away. Check your benefits before subscribing directly; this is the single cheapest way to have Crew if Ultimate is already in your budget.

Is Fortnite Crew worth it

The math, using the numbers above and V-Bucks at their post-March 2026 rate of $8.99 per 800:

  • The V-Bucks alone nearly cover the fee. 800 V-Bucks bought as a pack cost $8.99; Crew costs $11.99. You are effectively paying about $3 for everything else in the bundle.
  • The passes are worth 4,000 V-Bucks per full cycle — if you would have bought them. That is the trap in the subscription pitch. A pass you would not have paid for is not savings; it is clutter. Count only the passes for modes you actually play.
  • Break-even is roughly two passes. If you genuinely play two pass-carrying modes — say Battle Royale plus Festival — a Crew month at $3-net beats 2,000 V-Bucks of separate purchases by a wide margin. One-mode players are the marginal case: the Battle Pass costs 800 V-Bucks outright, keeps its rewards claimable all season without a subscription, and needs no monthly commitment.
  • Skin collectors are already sold. The Crew Pack cannot be bought any other way, and the Legacy Styles compound it. That audience subscribes for the exclusivity and treats the passes as a bonus.

Who should skip it: anyone who only plays Zero Build or Battle Royale casually, does not finish passes, and does not care about the monthly skin. An unfinished pass is wasted money whether it came from Crew or the shop — and the XP grind to finish one is real. Subscribe when the contents list matches your actual play, cancel when it stops, and mind the December 2024 rule when you do.

Quick Action Checklist

  • Check Xbox Game Pass Ultimate first — it has included Fortnite Crew since November 18, 2025; do not pay twice
  • Count the modes you actually play — the 4,000 V-Bucks pass bundle is only worth what you would have bought anyway
  • Know the grant is 800 V-Bucks, not 1,000 — the cut took effect for renewals on or after June 6, 2026
  • Expect V-Bucks on your renewal date and passes on season changes — not one monthly drop
  • Know what a lapse stops — on a post-December 2024 subscription, levels earned after your last billing period no longer unlock premium Fortnite pass rewards (anything already unlocked auto-claims when the pass expires)
  • Buy a pass separately if you only want one — a V-Bucks purchase keeps the pass claimable all season, no subscription required
  • Watch the 14-day window — subscribing within 14 days of buying a pass grants its V-Bucks back but converts it to subscription-locked
  • Stay subscribed if you love a Crew Pack — five Legacy Styles unlock across the five months after you receive it

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in Fortnite Crew?
A Fortnite Crew subscription ($11.99/month in the US) includes the monthly Crew Pack — a subscriber-exclusive Crew Series outfit with matching cosmetics — plus 800 V-Bucks per month and every current seasonal pass: the Battle Pass, OG Pass, Music Pass, and LEGO Pass, along with Rocket Pass Premium in Rocket League. The OG, Music, and LEGO passes joined the bundle in December 2024; the Rocket Pass has been included since April 2023. Bought separately, the four Fortnite passes cost 4,000 V-Bucks per cycle.
How many V-Bucks does Fortnite Crew give per month?
Fortnite Crew grants 800 V-Bucks per month, reduced from 1,000 for any subscription renewing on or after June 6, 2026 — the price stayed at $11.99. The first 800 V-Bucks arrive immediately when you subscribe, and each later grant lands on your billing renewal date rather than at the start of a month or season. The change aligned Crew with the March 19, 2026 V-Bucks repricing, in which the $8.99 pack went from 1,000 V-Bucks to 800.
Do you keep your items if you cancel Fortnite Crew?
Everything you have already claimed from Fortnite Crew stays in your locker permanently, including Crew Pack cosmetics and any pass rewards you collected, and per Epic's Crew FAQ, premium rewards you unlocked while subscribed but had not claimed are auto-claimed when the pass expires. What changes after canceling is progress: for subscriptions started on or after December 1, 2024, the premium tracks of the Battle Pass, OG Pass, Music Pass, and LEGO Pass only unlock and claim while the subscription is active, so once your final billing period ends, further levels stop unlocking premium rewards even if the season is still running. Subscribers from before December 1, 2024 can keep unlocking and claiming after canceling, but only for the Battle Pass. Rocket Pass Premium stays active for as long as that Rocket League season's pass is live. A pass bought separately with V-Bucks is not affected and stays claimable all season.
Is Fortnite Crew included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate?
Yes. Since November 18, 2025, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate includes a Fortnite Crew membership as one of its benefits. If you already subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate, you should not also pay Epic directly for Fortnite Crew — check your active benefits before subscribing.
Is Fortnite Crew worth it?
Fortnite Crew is strong value if you play two or more of the pass-carrying modes. The 800 monthly V-Bucks alone would cost $8.99 bought as a pack against Crew's $11.99 price, and the four included Fortnite passes cost 4,000 V-Bucks per cycle separately. It is weak value if you only play one mode casually: the Battle Pass costs 800 V-Bucks bought outright and stays claimable all season without a subscription, whereas a Crew-granted pass stops unlocking premium rewards once a lapsed subscription's final billing period ends. The subscriber-exclusive monthly Crew Pack is the tiebreaker for skin collectors.
Does the Fortnite Battle Pass still pay for itself?
Only barely. Since Chapter 7 Season 2 began on March 19, 2026, the Battle Pass costs 800 V-Bucks and returns a total of 800 V-Bucks when completed — down from a 1,500 V-Bucks return — so a finished pass funds the next one but no longer produces surplus V-Bucks to spend elsewhere. V-Bucks were also removed from the pass's bonus reward pages. The free pass track awards 300 V-Bucks, and the OG Pass returns no V-Bucks at all.
