PUBG Secret Rooms: Every Map, Key and What's Inside

Secret Rooms are on seven PUBG maps now, they've been in Ranked since June 2026, and the Self-AED hasn't spawned in one since April 2025. Here's every map's key and door rules, the loot lists KRAFTON has actually published, and the two unlocked cousins: Vikendi's alarmed Lab Camps and Sanhok's Loot Truck.

If your picture of a PUBG Secret Room is Taego's key-locked vault with a Self-AED on the shelf, it's badly out of date. KRAFTON pulled the Self-AED out of special spawn locations in Update 35.1 (April 2025), added Secret Rooms to Rondo and Miramar after that, and in Update 42.1 (June 2026) made them available in Ranked on four maps. As of the latest patch notes, Update 43.1, KRAFTON has documented locked loot rooms on seven maps, and the rules change from map to map: what the key is called, how the doors behave, and how much KRAFTON admits is inside.

This is the cross-map reference. Which maps have them, how each one opens, what the patch notes actually confirm is on the shelves, and the two unlocked cousins KRAFTON names alongside Secret Rooms in its loot-source lists: Vikendi's alarmed Lab Camps and Sanhok's Loot Truck. For the drop-by-drop side of each map, the individual guides for Taego, Erangel, Miramar and the rest still apply.

Which maps have Secret Rooms

KRAFTON doesn't call them all the same thing. Deston has Security Doors opened with Security Keys; Vikendi has Secret Rooms opened with a Security Key; on the other five maps it's a Secret Room and a Secret Room Key. Here's the whole set as the patch notes describe it:

Taego's room arrived in Update 13.1, a few weeks after the map itself, with keys "scattered across Taego" to find and carry to it. Paramo's predates every patch note checked for this guide: the earliest official mention found is Update 11.1 (March 2021), which "Increased item spawn rates in the Secret Room" and added the Secret Room Key to Custom Match spawn options. The clearest marker that both maps use the same key is a bug notice: KRAFTON's Update 21.1 notes (December 2022) stopped Secret Room Keys spawning on Taego and Paramo for that update because the keys couldn't open the rooms, and Update 21.2 fixed it, stating "Secret Room Keys are now available again on every mode."

"Not listed" means KRAFTON's 42.1 list for that mode leaves the map out, not that anyone confirmed the rooms are disabled there. It barely matters for Ranked right now: none of Paramo, Deston or Vikendi is in the Season 43 Ranked pool.

How the keys and doors work

Where KRAFTON says where keys come from, the answer is the floor. Deston's Security Keys "world spawn around the map" (18.2), Vikendi's Security Key is a "world spawn item" (21.2), and Erangel's and Miramar's rooms open with "world-spawned Secret Room Keys" (26.1 and 41.2). You loot one like any other item, carry it to a locked door, and use it.

Past that, only two maps have door rules spelled out in the patch notes cited here:

  • Deston has the fullest rulebook, straight from its 18.2 launch notes. Security Keys stack in your inventory, each one is consumed after a single use, Security Doors can be grouped so one key unlocks the entire group, and a door can't be closed or relocked once it's open. KRAFTON spells out the consequence itself: "the open doors will be a hint to other players that you've been (or still are) at this area."
  • Rondo: "Opening any one of the four doors will unlock them all" (38.2). One key opens the room from every side at once, which also means every entrance is open to whoever turns up next.

For the other five maps, none of the notes cited here says whether a key is used up, how many rooms a map has, or how common keys are. The one rate signal on record is Vikendi's: Update 24.1 "slightly diminished the appearance rate for Secret Room Security Keys" there. KRAFTON has also had to close at least two ways in without a key. Update 25.1 fixed "an issue that allows access to Vikendi's Secret Rooms without a Security Key," and 42.1 fixed players getting "unintended access to a Secret Room on Paramo by using a motorcycle."

KRAFTON's official Update 21.2 image for Vikendi's Secret Rooms: on the left, a Tythonic Industries Security Key card with a chip and barcode; on the right, the tall concrete entrance of a Secret Room with a barred light panel above its door, standing in the snow.

Secret Rooms have been in Ranked since 42.1

Update 42.1 (17 June 2026 on PC, 25 June on console) is the change that put Secret Rooms into the current Ranked loot economy. From the Season 42 section of the notes: "Secret Rooms are now available in Ranked and Custom Matches - Esports Mode."

  • Ranked: Erangel, Miramar, Rondo, Taego
  • Custom Match – Esports Mode: Erangel, Miramar, Rondo, Taego, Vikendi, Deston

It isn't Ranked's first contact with them. Update 22.2 (March 2023), with Taego in the Ranked pool, added the P90 to "Care Packages and Secret Rooms in Ranked," and Update 35.2 (May 2025) stated in its destructible-pots notes that "The Secret Room Keys spawn only in Normal Match." 42.1 is the change that brought them back, on four named maps.

Put that list next to the Season 43 Ranked pool in KRAFTON's 43.1 Map Service Report (Erangel, Miramar, Taego and Rondo at 25% each) and every Ranked map this season has Secret Rooms switched on. Deston's place on the Esports Mode list is a straight reversal, too: its 18.2 launch notes had Security Doors "Unavailable in Custom Match – Esports Mode."

KRAFTON's official Update 38.2 image from the Rondo Secret Room section of the patch notes: a dark two-tier pagoda-style building on a stone platform guarded by lion statues, with a tall limestone karst peak behind it.

Two cautions before you plan a Ranked drop around one. KRAFTON has tuned special-spawn loot separately for Ranked before. Update 32.1 adjusted DBS and Lynx AMR spawn rates "in special spawns like the Secret Room, Lab Camp, and Market in Normal Match" but removed the DBS from special spawns in Ranked outright. No Ranked-specific Secret Room list has been published since 42.1; 42.2's Taego and Rondo Secret Room changes sit under a World heading that says "World updates apply to all game modes." And the same Season 42 notes made final placement carry "greater weight in RP calculations," so a key detour that drags you out of position costs you more in Ranked than the same detour does in a Normal Match.

What KRAFTON confirms is inside

None of the patch notes checked for this guide gives a complete loot table for any Secret Room. What they give is one launch list and a run of additions and swaps, and together they're the best official picture available:

WhereUpdateWhat KRAFTON says changed
Taego13.1 (August 2021)Launch list: Self-AED (since removed, see below), scopes, a low chance of Care Package items, and a large number of healing items and throwables
Rondo39.2 (January 2026)Weapon, attachment and throwable spawns inside Secret Rooms increased
Erangel40.1 (February 2026)All-In-One Repair Kit, Emergency Cover Flare and Jammer Pack now spawn in Secret Rooms
Vikendi40.2 (March 2026)Added: Jammer Pack, Emergency Pickup, Folded Shield, Mountain Bike, Mortar, All-In-One Repair Kit, Stun Gun, Zipline Gun, Emergency Cover Flare (Normal Match and Custom Match – Normal Mode)
Secret Rooms (no map named)41.1 (April 2026)The new Emergency Support Flare can come from Secret Rooms; the Jammer Pack (Lv.3) is limited to Care Packages, Secret Rooms, Loot Trucks, Lab Camps and Emergency Supply Drops
Taego42.2 (July 2026)New shelving layout. Can now spawn Ghillie Suits, Pickaxe, Jammer Pack, Folded Shield, Mountain Bike, Mortar, Repair Kit, M79, Stun Gun, Zipline Gun and Emergency Cover Flare. Weapons added: Vector, ACE32, M24, Kar98k, Micro UZI, UMP, S12K. Removed: K2, VSS, S686
Rondo42.2 (July 2026)Care Package weapons now roll only from a dedicated Care Package weapon slot instead of in every weapon slot. Weapons added: S12K, UMP, MP5K, JS9. Removed: VSS
Miramar, Deston, ParamoNoneNo item list in any patch notes checked for this guide; Miramar's notes promise "high-value items" and Deston's "high-tier items"

Three things fall out of that table. First, the recent lists lean hard on utility: Jammer Packs, Folded Shields, Mortars, Zipline Guns and Mountain Bikes appear on both the Vikendi and Taego additions. Second, the Lv.3 Jammer Pack comes with a hard sourcing rule. It's the 250-capacity pack with KRAFTON's "High" Blue Zone protection rating, and per 41.1 it comes from only those five sources, so a Secret Room is one of your few shots at it without chasing an airdrop. Third, Care Package weapons are in the mix. KRAFTON's 42.2 notes say Rondo's Secret Rooms used to give them "a chance to spawn in each weapon category slot" and now roll them "only from the dedicated Care Package weapon slot," and that 32.1 line "adjusted" rather than removed DBS and Lynx AMR rates in Secret Rooms and Lab Camps for Normal Match. Our care package guide covers what those crate weapons do once you have one.

What's no longer in a Secret Room

Older descriptions of Secret Rooms are built around items that aren't there any more:

  • The Self-AED. Update 35.1 (9 April 2025 on PC) made it a world spawn "on all maps, but only in Solo mode," with three sub-points: "Removed from Duo & Squad modes," "Removed from special spawn locations," and no longer a reward for Rondo's In-Game Challenge. This is the big one: the Self-AED was the first item on KRAFTON's own 13.1 list for the Taego room, and the PUBG Wiki's Taego Secret Room page, last edited in January 2022, still lists it first.
  • The Thermal 4x Scope. Update 26.1 had moved it out of world spawns and into places like Care Packages, Secret Rooms, Lab Camps and Supply Drops. Update 35.1 then removed it "from every spawn spot."
  • The K2, VSS and S686 on Taego and the VSS on Rondo, cut from those Secret Room weapon pools in 42.2.

If a guide or an AI summary tells you to go key-hunting on Taego for a Self-AED, it's describing the game as it was before April 2025.

Vikendi's Lab Camps: loot with an alarm

Vikendi also has a special spawn that isn't locked at all. Lab Camps arrived in Update 21.1 (December 2022), and KRAFTON's notes put them "around the frozen lake in the northwest," each one a different size and layout, stocked with colour-coded Supply Drops:

Supply DropWhat KRAFTON says can spawn
YellowBoost items, Throwables, M79, or Level 3 Equipment
RedWeapons available in Vikendi, including ammo, plus Care Package weapons "if you're very lucky"
BlueAttachments available in Vikendi

The catch is the alarm. In "certain Lab Camps," taking items from a Supply Drop immediately sets off "a loud siren and red lights for a certain period of time." Looting again while it's already going doesn't restart it; looting after it stops sets it off again.

KRAFTON retuned Lab Camps in Update 24.1 (June 2023): better odds of the "lucky" Supply Drops that hold Care Package weapons, but a "marginal downgrade" in item quality, and "a significant reduction" in how often Care Package weapons and Level 3 gear appear. They're still in the game. Update 41.1 names Lab Camps as one of the five sources of the Lv.3 Jammer Pack and a source of the Emergency Support Flare.

Sanhok's Loot Truck: the Secret Room that drives

Sanhok gets no locked room. It gets a moving one. The Loot Truck came back in Update 33.2 (15 January 2025 on PC), with KRAFTON's dev comment calling it a return for a vehicle "first introduced in Sanhok four years ago." The rules are specific:

  • Four Loot Trucks spawn at designated locations after the match begins and drive predetermined routes.
  • A destroyed truck stops for good, and no new Loot Truck spawns to replace it.
  • Heavy armour means reduced damage, but "attacking them from the sides deals increased damage."
  • Damage knocks small or large lootable containers off the truck. Destroying it blows open the cargo hold, which "contains a large amount of lootable gear."
  • The explosion "deals significant damage within a 10-meter radius," and players hit by the rear door blown off in the blast "may be knocked down or killed."
  • It runs in Normal Match, Custom Match and Arcade, but not Team Deathmatch.

KRAFTON's official Update 33.2 image of Sanhok's Loot Truck just after being destroyed: an armoured olive-green truck with its rear cargo door blown open, ammo crates scattered on the ground behind it, a fireball in the background and a player holding a rifle in the left foreground.

KRAFTON's own pitch is that a destroyed truck yields "enough gear to fully equip your entire squad," possibly including "special weapons," and Update 41.1 added Loot Trucks to the source lists for both the Emergency Support Flare and the Lv.3 Jammer Pack. The same dev comment carries the warning worth taking seriously: while you're focused on the truck, "you might not notice other teams approaching."

The practical read: come at it from the flank and shoot the side panels instead of chasing it from behind, stay outside 10 metres when it's about to blow, and don't be behind it when it does, since the rear door is the part KRAFTON says can knock you. With only four trucks and no replacements, a truck another squad has already blown is gone for the match. One more thing: Update 38.1 fixed a bug where players inside and outside a destroyed truck couldn't damage each other through its broken parts, so the wreck is not a safe place to stand and loot.

Is a Secret Room worth the detour?

This is my read from how these systems are built. None of the patch notes cited here gives win-rate data for players who open a room.

  • Find a key, then decide. The rule in our Taego guide carries over to the other six maps: a key you loot along your normal path is worth a detour, while a route built around hunting for one is how you end up under-geared and late to the circle. The blue zone rotation guide covers the timing side.
  • Assume you've been noticed. Deston's doors stay open, Rondo's open on all four sides at once, certain Lab Camps sound a siren, and a Loot Truck ends in an explosion. Loot fast, then leave.
  • In Ranked, check the circle before the key. With placement weighted more heavily in RP since 42.1, a room on your way to the circle is a gift, and a room on the far side of it is a tax.
  • Know what you're shopping for. The published lists lean on utility, and the Lv.3 Jammer Pack comes from only five sources. If the Blue Zone is going to push your squad around late, that's a real reason to go.

What KRAFTON hasn't published

Worth knowing before you trust any confident answer to these:

  • Room locations and counts. None of the patch notes cited here give coordinates or say how many rooms a map has. KRAFTON's notes don't back any location map you find online.
  • Key spawn rates, beyond Vikendi's 24.1 reduction.
  • Whether keys outside Deston are single-use. Of the notes cited here, only Deston's say so.
  • Full loot tables, for any map. Miramar, Deston and Paramo don't get even a partial item list in the notes checked, and there's no Ranked-specific table since 42.1.
  • What's hidden in Vikendi's rooms for the exit. The 21.2 dev comment says KRAFTON "installed something handy inside" for "a safer getaway" and never names it.

Quick Action Checklist

  • Know your map's key name: Security Key on Deston and Vikendi, Secret Room Key on Taego, Paramo, Erangel, Rondo and Miramar
  • Treat Secret Rooms as a Ranked resource on Erangel, Miramar, Rondo and Taego since Update 42.1, which covers the whole Season 43 Ranked pool
  • On Deston, remember keys are single-use and one key can open a whole group of Security Doors, which then stay open
  • On Rondo, one key opens all four doors of a room at once, for you and for whoever shows up next
  • Don't key-hunt for a Self-AED: it left special spawn locations in Update 35.1 and now world-spawns in Solo only
  • Look for the Lv.3 Jammer Pack in Secret Rooms, Loot Trucks, Lab Camps, Care Packages and Emergency Supply Drops, the only five sources KRAFTON lists
  • On Vikendi, loot Lab Camp Supply Drops fast; certain camps sound an alarm the moment you take an item
  • On Sanhok, shoot Loot Trucks from the side, stay outside 10 metres when they blow, and never stand behind the rear door
  • Pick up a key on your route; don't build your route around finding one

Frequently Asked Questions

Which PUBG maps have Secret Rooms?
As of Update 43.1, KRAFTON's patch notes document locked special-loot rooms on seven PUBG: Battlegrounds maps. Taego (added in Update 13.1), Paramo (before Update 11.1), Erangel (Update 26.1), Rondo (Update 38.2) and Miramar (Update 41.2) have Secret Rooms opened with a Secret Room Key. Vikendi has Secret Rooms opened with a Security Key (Update 21.2), and Deston has Security Doors opened with Security Keys (Update 18.2). Sanhok has no Secret Room; its equivalent special spawn is the Loot Truck.
How do you open a Secret Room in PUBG?
You find a key as world loot and use it on the locked door. On Taego, Paramo, Erangel, Rondo and Miramar the key is called a Secret Room Key; on Vikendi and Deston it is a Security Key. Deston's rules are the most detailed in KRAFTON's notes: Security Keys stack, each is consumed after one use, one key can unlock a whole group of Security Doors, and opened doors cannot be closed or relocked. On Rondo, opening any one of a Secret Room's four doors unlocks all of them.
Are Secret Rooms available in PUBG Ranked?
Yes, since Update 42.1 (June 2026). KRAFTON's notes state that Secret Rooms are available in Ranked on Erangel, Miramar, Rondo and Taego, and in Custom Match – Esports Mode on those four maps plus Vikendi and Deston. That reversed Update 35.2 (May 2025), whose notes said Secret Room Keys spawn only in Normal Match. The Season 43 Ranked pool in the Update 43.1 Map Service Report is Erangel, Miramar, Taego and Rondo at 25% each, so every Ranked map that season has Secret Rooms enabled.
What loot is in PUBG Secret Rooms?
KRAFTON's patch notes give no complete Secret Room loot table, only a Taego launch list and later changes. Taego's room launched in Update 13.1 with the Self-AED (since removed), scopes, a low chance of Care Package items, and a large number of healing items and throwables. Erangel's Secret Rooms gained the All-In-One Repair Kit, Emergency Cover Flare and Jammer Pack in Update 40.1. Vikendi's added the Jammer Pack, Emergency Pickup, Folded Shield, Mountain Bike, Mortar, All-In-One Repair Kit, Stun Gun, Zipline Gun and Emergency Cover Flare in 40.2. In 42.2, Taego's pool added Ghillie Suits, a Pickaxe, the M79 and guns including the Vector, ACE32, M24 and Kar98k while removing the K2, VSS and S686, and Rondo's rooms moved Care Package weapons to a dedicated slot, added the S12K, UMP, MP5K and JS9, and removed the VSS. Update 41.1 made Secret Rooms one of only five sources of the Lv.3 Jammer Pack.
Does the Self-AED still spawn in PUBG Secret Rooms?
No. Update 35.1 (April 2025) changed the Self-AED to a world spawn on all maps but only in Solo mode, and its notes list it as removed from Duo and Squad modes and removed from special spawn locations, which include Secret Rooms. Older guides that send players key-hunting on Taego for a Self-AED describe the game before that patch.
What are Lab Camps and Loot Trucks in PUBG?
They are two unlocked special-loot spots KRAFTON lists alongside Secret Rooms: Update 41.1 names Secret Rooms, Loot Trucks and Lab Camps among the five sources of the Lv.3 Jammer Pack. Lab Camps are Vikendi areas around the frozen lake in the northwest, added in Update 21.1, holding yellow, red and blue Supply Drops; certain Lab Camps trigger a loud siren and red lights when items are taken. The Loot Truck is Sanhok's special spawn, returned in Update 33.2: four armoured trucks drive set routes, take extra damage from the sides, drop loot containers when damaged, and explode when destroyed to open a cargo hold of gear, with a 10-metre blast radius. Destroyed trucks are not replaced.
